Жыл бұрын

This weekend we attended the Munich Security Conference, where we met with US Lieutenant General Michael Loh and German Lieutenant General Ingo Gerhartz. With them we discussed the trans-atlantic relationship and if China could drive a wedge between Europe and the US
The Munich Security Conference is the world's leading forum for debating international security policy. It is a venue for diplomatic initiatives to address the world's most pressing security concerns. In 2023, under the new chairmanship of Ambassador Christoph Heusgen, the MSC will once again welcome a series of high-ranking international decision-makers and experts, including heads of state and government, ministers, and diverse voices from international organizations, civil society, the private sector, and the media.
Thank you to MSC, KZbin and Google for inviting us to attend, as well as the team in Munich who proved so helpful

Absolutely amazing to see TLDR doing on site interviews! I constantly get asked why I know so much about what's going on in the world outside of America and I answer "Because I don't watch the main stream media, I get my news from reliable sources." Keep improving, keep reporting and please never sell out!!

One of the reasons why I watch TLDR so often is because they are outsiders explaining issues from the outside to an audience of outsiders. I know they will get a lot of praise for this interview. But, I'm concerned that this will lead them to become like every other news outlet.

Actually watching/reading news media from all around the world is super important, because all national news are shaded because they also have to take business considerations in mind. It's rather funny to see news in one country reporting on topics that are basically taboo in others, not for economical reasons but simply be cause they are in the other country not considered ad-friendly.

Nice job, I would actually watch more of those because interviews with experts are way more interesting than interviews with politicians/celebrities, which only repeat their prefabricated lines written by some PR guys over and over again.

Even if these get less views - please keep doing these interviews! Really refreshing and genuinely nice approach that is relaxes who you are talking too and not making them feel pushed for a soundbite. If there were any improvements...it would be to ask detail questions as well as those broad questions. Think nuisances typical on a TLDR video...ask a nuisance question in an interview that is core to the topic but may be something others haven't asked as it is less headliny!

I think the ANG general was right about the supposed divide. Clearly there are political divides amongst political parties and constituents, but surprisingly this doesn’t affect the military as much as people think. Sure, the president is the head of the executive branch, but outside of Trump making flippant remarks, serious detrimental actions against the alliance of NATO is accepted as being political suicide. The US needs NATO and values our European allies, even if some politicians say stupid things. And as the general said, all that talk has not led to any policy changes that would weaken the alliance.

This was a fantastic interview! Really well managed in terms of prompts and questions etc.. Great to see TLDR make this huge step forward in terms of content creation. I think I may be pointing out the obvious but a little more attention is needed in future for audio quality/setup as there was quite a lot of distortion in some parts. Well done TLDR!

While I like the idea and format, I feel like this was a mismatch : I could sum it all up as "yes, we work well together, NATO is alive an kicking now". Maybe I did not pay enough attention but it felt like the wrong questions to the wrong people, and way too short for extracting something substantial. Still, a like for the effort, looking forward to the next iteration, keep up the good work !

@@idleishde6124 I agree. Look at what they did in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Somalia, etc. As the quote goes “Democracies are more peaceful than authoritarian countries because their citizens don’t want war”. That’s why during the middle eastern invasions in the early 2000s, Americans have never been so bipartisan in supporting the invasions and so was congress. After all, in the past 30 years, Russia has invaded and completely destroyed far more nations than the United States.

I fully consider TLDR to be an objective, fact-checked, progressive Marxist media, which is definitely positive, BUT(!) The title is misleading, because one would assume that it talks about the rights of trans people living in the Atlantic region, which would be very important to talk about, but instead it only talks about NATO, which would also be important to talk about trans, genderfluid and about the rights of non-binary minorities, because NATO is also tasked with protecting them against the aggressor Putler.

I'm afraid I don't really see how. We took the opportunity to talk with a number of experts, so we could share their perspectives for you to judge for yourself. We approved every guest, we chose the topics, wrote the questions, edited the videos, chose what to upload. We had total creative oversight of the process and weren't paid by the guest to include anything. I struggle to see how that's anything other than total independence
