Okay, something you don't realize about Texas. Texas is not a state it's a sovereign nation. Everybody augh. Texas never ratified to become a state, The ratification process came down 2 years after the Alamo. And the people of Texas told the US to pound sand. So, the governor of the territory of Texas took the bill and put it into a desk drawer. And to this day, it is in a desk door in a museum in Austin. If all Texas has to do is pull the bill out, sign on it not except and send it back to Washington.

When it comes to socialist parties, I feel DSA is worth a mention. It’s not a party per se, but it is by far the strongest leftist organisation, with multiple of their members in the chambers and local governments (usually as independent or under the Democratic Party) and endorsed by e.g. Bernie Sanders

I feel it should be noted that the democrats are in no way a leftwing party. They are center right maybe centrist at most. This is always left out when talking about the left/right divide in the US

What really needs to happen is a more proportional system of election. This is impossible without that. I’m not even talking PR, but something other than FTPT, same goes for us in the UK.

As a classical liberal, I'd be split between Acela and the conservatives. Americans just don't usually hold my political opinions... A classical liberal party wouldn't succeed (like the FDP does in Germany, for example)

I hope that non-Americans don’t get the sense from this that we are a multi-party system. I keep up with politics here pretty intensely and I’ve never heard of 3 of these parties. With our current system of funding (wildly corrupt) the chances of any of these parties getting enough $ backing to make a mark are small to none.
