„Stop committing genocide“ by the definition of the word genocide, the events in Gaza, while devastating, do not meet the specific legal criteria for genocide and are more accurately framed within the context of war crimes or crimes against humanity, as determined by international law. Furthermore the conflict in Gaza is deeply rooted in decades of disputes, compounded by mutual distrust and violence making any resolution far from simple. Also in the last century, Israel accepted the United Nations 1947 partition plan proposing a two-state solution, while Arab leaders and Palestinian representatives rejected it, leading to the conflicts and territorial disputes that we see today.

It's not anti-semitism to oppose the actions of the Israeli state. Using that term is an insult to the Jewish people in Ireland (especially given that not all Jewish people support Israel's actions). Ireland supports a two-state solution, a ceasefire, and freeing the hostages taken by Hamas, so we have always seen the legitimate claims of both sides. However, Ireland opposes the continued slaughter and starvation of thousands of innocent people. While the terrorist attack by Hamas was clearly wrong, Israel's response was also wrong, and they have clearly committed war crimes. The blame for this rests with Netanyahu and his government. I hope the Israeli people realise that he is doing them no favours in the long-term and vote him out.

The people of ireland have been calling on successive governments to recognise the stae of palestine and to impose bds on israel for its atrocities, war crimes and breaches of human rights on palestinian civilians for decades. Israels decades of breaches of international laws have enraged the majority of everyday people across the world but their governments have refused to take meaningful action in support of palestine and to punish israels breaches of international law . If governments worldwide had imposed bds on israel and pushed for un sanctions on israel every time israel breached international and humanitarian law, there would have been no attack on oct 7th and no genocide being carried out under israels declaration of self defense. Israel is and has been an apartheid rogue state since its beginning. The fact that the countries who engineered its existence are also members of the unsc,is a clear conflict of interest. Israel was found on stolen land from a nation who rightfully owned, lived and worked in palestine for thousands of years. The foreign 'policies' that brought about the creation of the state of israel ,are still being used today, against the will of the people that rightfully own land. The most recent example,is the chagos islands, the uk , mauritius and the chagossians.. People born on chagos who were expelled have the right to return to live in chagos. However their children who were not born on chagos are not permitted to live on chagos. It is insufferable denial of the rights of people who are the descendants of enslaved people brought to chagos who were then expelled from their homeland. Now they are being forced to choose between going home to chagos,or staying in exile with their families. Israel has used this horrific 'policy' of no right to return for palestinians,in breach of international law ,to deny palestinians the right of return to their homelands. Ireland identifies strongly with palestine because britain used similar tactics to displace the irish population from their lands. Irish people are anti apartheid, not anti semitic, antigenocide, not anisemitic. Irish people people are pro equality, pro human rights, pro international law and pro peace. Israel has been slandering nations ,groups and individuals who challenge israel and accused everyone who does not support everything israel does of antisemitism. They are a rogue state and they must be forced to atone for everything they've done throughout the last year and the past century. The countries of the worl must unite in their demand for a top down change to restore the land property and rights to palestinians and their descendants.

Fine Gael and Simon Harris have been in power for 14 years, last election a few weeks ago they only managed 22% of seats. While they do not have the support of 68% of Irish voters, their stance on the IDF & Hamas murdering machines is no different from 99% of the Irish public. Condemning the IDF cannot - as much as Israel would like to believe - be equated to support for Hamas. Perhaps the difficulty with trying to talk to or negotiate with Hamas or Israel is that both are comprised of deeply traumatized individuals hell bent on removing the other from planet earth. Perhaps one day, when the middle east is drowned under blood, they will acknowledge that while digging each other’s graves, they made a few arms dealers very rich at the cost of their own people.

We cant support the use of starvation as a weapon of war, particularly directed against civilians. Ireland had a famine in the 1840s and so this particularly disturbs us when we see one artificially created. Hamas is extremist and should be condemned. But Israel has the military advantage, and has pursued a policy of colonialism and oppression against the Palestinians. Also, this conflict confirms me in my belief that mixing religion and politics too much (as both sides do) is a bad idea.
