I am sorry but that's total BS. The overwhelming majority of Turks in Europe are the descendants of workers that got there in 1960's as a result of high demand for workers Germany and other countries in Europe had. Most of these people were from villages, uneducated, very religious, and so on. Europeans haven't thought of teaching them their language before them coming in their land, teaching them about the European values and so on. They got segregated from the rest of the society. Got even more religious, because that was their identity. So they vote for Erdoğan. What a suprise!

The situation is quite bizarre. 10 years ago when Erdoğan pulled the same thing, his now ally, Bahçeli (the leader of the nationalist party) pushed for an early election. However, Bahçeli is also supporting this Kurdish peace now. If you ask me they are not trying to make peace with the kurds. They are trying to mold a new kurdish identity. Erdogan has been increasingly authoritarian, centralising power ever since the 2016 coup. He’s a strongman who’s driven the democratic backsliding of Turkey and while still retained decent support, this hasn’t necessarily been because people love Erdogan, but because he’s the only decent option. Considering everything he’s done already, can’t see him suddenly relinquishing power. If he can also continue exploiting issues and concerns that cause people ‘to rally round the flag’ or protecting fellow Muslim communities like the Palestinians, will do enough to win favour voters.

He did loose the local elections, so he has already lost enough support, he is trying to get as much power as he can before 2028. Excellent video and analysis. As someone who spent over 10 years living in Turkey, I can say that I have never ever seen as politically unstable country as Turkey. First of all, Erdoğan is de facto the government, the parliament and every other political party really play only a small role. He of course achieved that after the failed coup attempt in 2016, when he successfully transformed the system to his advantage. But it isn't only that he transformed the system once, he has done major changes unprecedented in modern Turkish history, and he will continue with further changes, ever modifying the constitution as much as he needs and wants to, all the while claiming that this is ''democratic''. But even more strange than the man himself are his followers. It is almost mind-boggling that so many of them watched him demonize the opposition during the previous election cycle, fear-mongering by saying that if they win they will strike a deal with PKK and other terrorist groups, only to be doing EXACTLY THAT NOW and his followers will still support him. They also watch him talk against the high interest rates as something that is haram (forbidden in Islam), which lead to staggeringly high inflation. But now he again increased the inflation rates and his followers think this is normal too. Basically whatever he does, they will vote for him, even if he says and does completely the opposite things from 10 or even 2 years ago.

As a young Turkish who lives in western side (Izmir which is the strongest opposition city) whatever you said ABSOLUTELY TRUE. I can't believe how stupid our people can be. I can understand the state's emergency and the extension of power after the coup but he used it as a great excuse to spread his authority and propaganda. Because after that incident it is suddenly easier to bring down the ones that you see as terrorist and enemy of state. And that shifting to presidential system from parliamentary was a disappointment for our country's democracy. I'm not that old and I was a teenager at that age, despite media's constant lies about "the terror will be erased if people trust and vote for state" etc. I was against it, knowing the possible consequences. But my parents (like the other half of country) voted for yes because they just trusted Erdogan. Despite I told them it will be a damage to our democracy. But because of the common enemy and the horrors of coup, the love for Erdogan, and since their only truths are media, they said yes. It was a fucking stupid night as a teenager I watch how could my youth be ruined by the adults with minds ignorant than mine yet has rights to vote. And I didn't even surprise when the bastard made himself candidate at 2023 too. With the excuse of "Constitution changed after election, so this is the first election after renewed one, so there's no legal obstacle" However previously in our history when a constitution changed it applied after the new government. Anyways, I don't even mention the censorship of media. In the rally period I didn't see Chp or any opposition party speech on TRT, which is the main base channel of turkey. I missed the 2023 elections just by months though I kept warning my parents about the dictatorship we are becoming. But they fucking don't care about we youth's future. Opposition had mistakes as well. Kemal Kilicdaroglu (very unpopular figure in the opposition who lost all elections against Erdogan for two decades) declared himself as candidate against him once again. Because recently Erdogan's popularity was collapsing and Kemal seen this as a last opportunity. And eventually he lost. The second round of presidential election was just a joke. Kemal Kilicdaroglu vs Recep Tayyip Erdogan who is worse than each other. And eventually the "traditional" competition between them didn't change as he lost again. Ignoring the people (especially youth's) hopes for future because of his fucking gains. And you're completely right about whatever the son of the bitch does the followers doesn't care. I always argue this with my parents. That he said this once and look what he's doing now. And I'm trying to show the proofs of who he really is. But they're just in love with him. They are formerly from Çorum and later came to Izmir. It's a central anatolian city that highly conservative just like the region itself. In here western coastal turkey we usually say "sheep are common in rural areas" to criticize the central and eastern population ignorance. Or we sometimes say "Lets split Turkey in two and let west join EU" One good news though, the opposition won the local election in 2024. Again, I couldn't vote because of two months. Especially west side of turkey was painted in Chp color as akp significantly lost local powers. That day the hope ignited within me once again as more young Turks becoming adults. I know there is time for next election but this time I'm definitely voting against the dictatorship that ruined our beautiful nation for decades. Idk if someone cares to read this much. But after seeing your comment I felt like I should release what's within me. Wish us luck my friend❤

Let's say you are right as I can't confirm any of that but even if we agree that Turks were still the ones who created the ottoman empire. Have you Heard of any Arab sultan of the ottoman empire? ? It was always Turkish . So it doesn't matter if the ottomans Called themselves something they were still Turks. It's like if I called myself white and hated my race but will it change the fact that I am that race? In Germany, there was a satirical song some years ago, called Erdowie, Erdowo, Erdogan (Erdo-how, Erdo-who, Erdogan) which is reminiscent of an 80s‘s Song (which also gave the tune to the song) but also alludes that the last syllable -gan, if thought of as a German word, would be ‚Wahn‘, meaning delusion or insanity. Is it before or after the 3rd crash of TRL vs USD ? And what good is there to be a turkic economic block? Like some kind of neo-Aryanism?

Kemalism is basically the only way to progress the other ideologies like Atsız turkism and neo ottomanism is basically reactionary elements that's basically self dooming themselves to eternal chaos and instability.

@@zurielsss Hopefully not another crash, while economy is still on the edge or floating... Well the idea of having a economic block, such as with Azerbaijan and the rest of central Asia. The benefit for Turkiye and hopefully the rest of the countries will gain. By promoting free trade within the economic block, lower prices of good and it will open up opportunities for other countries, for export and most importantly drives economic growth. If anything they would have to make another type of new currency: Similar to the EURO, which it might even give The Turkish republic a clean slate. With a stronger currency than ever before.

@@Badger_IV. You can be whatever you think you want to be, I just want to see us, to move on and learn how can we do much better than our founding fathers. What I am trying to say is that, what can we learn from them, from the great things they have achieved and some of the mistakes they have made. At the end of the day were all human beings and non of us are all perfect and any of us can make mistakes. What really matters to me is that, what can we do much better than them. I want to see some more coexistence between turks, even tho we all have different ideologies and religious beliefs. If we as Turks can't find away from this, than we are setting ourselves up for a trap, I don't want to see us a society where we create hate against each other with the very little differences, that becomes a major thing somehow.

Most Turks like Erdoğan and would want him to continue serving the nation past 2028. Criticism directed toward Erdoğan is actually not true, but it is jealousy. He grew the county's economy five-fold. Built the infrastructure, the lack of which kept 2/3rd of the population in unreachable locations and outside the country's economy. People now have access to education in every level, high quality hospitals and emergency services, schools, and equal opportunities. The land was very cheap when there were no roads, hospitals, schools, etc. And the people who owned them were locked into enclaves away from the major part of the society. But, with Erdoğan's infrastructure projects all of Türkiye is now reachable, and the land value increased hundreds-fold. People, holding the worthless land, became rich. This wealth was turned into capital to start 1.5-2 million commercial enterprises. The number of patents issued increased 50-fold. Life expectancy increased by 11 years to equal or higher than that of the USA. The size of the Turkish economy is now 12th in the world, while before Erdoğan, it wasn't even in the 20 largest economies. There are no visible signs of any homelessness in Türkiye. The country, before Erdoğan, depended on outside sources for its defense needs. So-called allies of Türkiye used this dependency to blackmail the Turks to dictate their own selfish policies in every turn. Now, after Erdoğan, Türkiye can manufacture any high-tech weapons, including airplanes, radar and laser systems, EMF weapons, sophisticated unmanned aircraft, sea and land crafts, cheaper, faster and with innovative improvements than any available in the World markets. So its exports in defense products increasing fast in the expense of the Western countries. Erdoğan made the country democratic by putting an end to Western instigated military coups. He has won every election he has entered. If the people did not love him, he wouldn't be elected in every election. The opposition, on the other hand, failed miserably in all the past 15 elections. There is not even one leader in the world as successful as him both as a local leader or as a world leader. So, the criticism of Erdoğan is actually jealousy.

I have always approached voting for Erdoğan logically. Even people like me end up voting for him, willingly or not. What he has done and what he hasn't are still balanced-his good and bad sides are almost equal. And the BIGGEST reason people vote for him is that the opposition parties are utterly useless, cowardly, and constantly at odds with each other. They almost seem content not being in power because governing Turkey is one of the world's most stressful jobs, thanks to religion, ethnicity, and geography. It’s not a job for cowards. They seem to think, "Why bother trying to get elected when I can just sit back, collect my salary, and live like a king?" During Erdoğan’s time in power, Turkey appears to have been locked into a system where the incompetent opposition is fixated on simply hating him. Occasionally, strong figures have emerged within the opposition, but they were taken down by the absurd opposition parties themselves or by those who despise Erdoğan. If people didn’t treat political parties like football teams, he would have been out of office long ago. And I disagree with the idea that Erdoğan is a dictator-he is far from it. He simply enjoys power and projecting it, as we see in his foreign policy and investments in the defense industry. His age is catching up with him, so he will eventually step down, and that worries me. Why? Because even the most rational person looking at the opposition can see that none of their leaders have the capacity to govern. They’ve destroyed their own strong figures internally.

Russia isn't a democracy, having an election doesn't immediately make a state democratic. Even the Spartans had elections, doesn't mean they were a democracy. Voting for the least worst option isn't a bug of democracies, that's how it's supposed to work. You're not meant to vote for what you love, you're meant to vote for what brings the most likely best option to your people. It's not meant to be a popularity contest and if that's what it devolves in that's a failure of your civic duty. Also I never heard people claim that democracy limits how long a person can be in power. I never seen that pitched as part of the marketing.
