Because they are not in fact allies. The same applies to China and Russia: they are not allies. They are partners, gauging each other and trying to take advantage of their respective strengths and the context of their relationship. As soon as one of these partners no longer sees the point of the relationship, it slowly collapses and ends (or changes form). Geopolitics is not just about alliances, sworn enemies and other buzzwords. It is first and foremost about an internal and external balance of power.

@@Adyen11234 Iran, Russia, and China all want peace and prosperity too. The problem for Russia and China is that the peace or prosperity they want comes at a cost to their neighbors. Iran is a little different in that they are surrounded by a ton of regional powers that all have long histories of blood feuds and war with each other and foreign powers (like Russia and the U.S.). Their alliance is held together by their collective hatred for U.S. foreign policy dating back to the Cold War. The U.S. and U.S.S.R. made some very morally questionable alliances in its efforts to limit the expansion of Communism/Capitalism, and many of those consequences are still impacting those countries today. Because of that, I don't think the alliance will completely dissolve between them, although blaming the U.S. for systemic problems in their economy is more for their internal politics than it is a coherent community-building policy or an actual fix.

There are no "alliances" in the world outside the context of war. There can be rhetoric that is beneficent for the dominant side in the "alliance", but if the weaker side takes the rhetoric seriously it just sets itself up for being fleeced as a resource base for their "ally". We're currently seeing this in the Eu relationship with the Us where Europeans seemingly actually believe in being in an alliance while the dominant side openly demolishes their economies with actively hostile policies aimed at exploit the weaknesses Europe has right now to the fullest

There's a phenomenon I've noticed recently, whereby every alliance in the world is analyzed using what I call the NATO litmus test i.e this alliance doesn't look like NATO (Which in itself has never been tested so...) so it will definitely fail, To say this is a wrong way of looking at things is an understatement, every alliance in this world has it's own unique objectives and reasons for existence e.g BRICS, a trade alliance is analysed like it's a military grouping, which it is NOT. BRICS was to come along eventually, countries in the global majority are called the global majority for a reason ,they are the majority and each year their economies grow and trade volumes between them grow ,they often have very different objectives to the global minority countries and the current system as it is was set up to cater to the interests of the global minority countries and these countries are unwilling to reform the system to accommodate the growing needs of these countries especially with regards to trade so you have BRICS forming. BRICS is not a rival even to the west, it's just an alliance created to cater to the needs of developing countries. The reality is Russia and Iran don't need to have a NATO-like alliance , not even close, they are countries that are basically untouchable , no one in their right minds will ever try to invade Russia or even Iran, the juice ain't worth the squeeze. Iran is 3 times the size of Texas, you'd need a million men at least to get to Iran , and bring them by ship and look for areas to deploy them and find a way to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuke before you finish their deployment so tough luck. As long as Russia is getting Shahed drone tech from Iran, to use in Ukraine and Iran gets drone and missile factories built in Russia where no one can dare strike them, they will be fine. It's that simple, Israel/the US can shoot down a plane from Iraq to Lebanon/Syria but they won't dare touch a chinese transport plane under a Russian flag from Yekaterinburg to Beirut/Damascus, they won't even attempt to search it and that works for the Iranians

No, it doesn't. Armenia used its greater power to invade Azerbaijan in the 1980 and have been occupying it for decades since without actually fully declaring the occupied regions its own territory. Which is the reason for the tensions and rhetoric now that Azerbaijan became more powerful and returned control over its territory. But claiming that they now want your capital is absurd self victimization and cry bullying. Armenia didn't care about internationally recognized borders until few years ago while it was occupying another country, but now it's afraid that there will be payback for the decades of humiliation they inflicted on their neighbor so they claim they are under attack

It is at least to their own mutual benefit that they are both mostly self sufficient in their defense needs. I think Iran can stave off an Israeli attack considering their geographic position and relatively decent AD. Russia also kinda got their bang for their buck by building their own геран-2 factory which makes their imports from Iran kind of redundant. I doubt Russia is going to fold if they lose their allies in Iran and NK, maybe they will begin to struggle if China takes a tougher stand but that’s not happening since China at this point would rather not be alone, just in case.

The USA and Europe, including the UK, have a complex history marked by wars (like the American Revolution and War of 1812), power struggles, and post-war tensions. While alliances formed, such as during WWII and the Cold War, underlying rivalries over influence and differing strategies often caused friction. The first part of this video about the Zangezur corridor is misleading. Armenia is open to allowing transport links from Azerbaijan to its enclave, Nakhchivan, but insists that the corridor must respect its sovereignty and jurisdiction. Azerbaijan, on the other hand, seeks an extraterritorial corridor guarded by Russian forces, which Armenia finds unacceptable. No nation would agree to relinquish control over its own roads. Additionally, Azerbaijan’s proposal poses a threat to Armenia's border with Iran, which both countries cannot tolerate, as it would cut off Armenia from its vital connection to Iran. The Armenian government has proposed a "Crossroads of Peace" project aimed at enhancing transportation links in the region while respecting each nation’s territorial integrity. The video inaccurately states that Armenia signed a peace treaty under duress. During the war, while Armenia did sign a treaty, it did not express that it was pressured to do so. Furthermore, the treaty does not include any clause for Russian border guards on the corridor; it simply calls for the opening of transport links, which Armenia supports.

Given Iran's recent failure to help in the "battle-tested" marketing of S300 systems, it would make sense for Russia to not give them the Su35's, which might also get a bad rep.

As an Iranian I would like to add another point. The public really doesnt like Russia out of 10 Iranians 9 will say they hate them. There are few reasons for that but its mainly due to historical reasons and Unfulfilled promises. Although since we live in a "Republic" it doesnt really matter.

It's still early days. It can take years to iron out issues and develop proper win-win tactical and strategic objectives for both sides; once the fundamentals are dealt with, everythind else will happen so fast. Russia is already investing billions in the International North-South Transport Corridor, a trade route connecting Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran and India. Things will look very different in 10-15 years; there is just so much potential for cooperation between Russia and Iran. Just look at how the China-Russia relations have developed in the last 10 years. I'm confident that in 15-20 years the Iranian Air force will be flying Russian-built fighter jets and Iranian Airlines will be flying Russian-built commercial aircraft.

The Gulf States' relations with Iran didn't improve because of "their mutual opposition to Israel", actually Saudi Arabia is fully on board with Israel against Iranian proxies like Hezbollah and the Houthis. However, they were wisely hedging their bets, in case Iran might have dealt Israel a heavy blow, and Biden/Harris might have been elected. Remember that this "warming" started long before Pezeshkian, and before the pager operation and the elimination of Nasrallah. At the time Iran's geopolitical position looked much better. Now they're just continuing some high-level contacts, but it's unlikely that their ties will keep improving significantly in the near future (though anything could happen - I don't claim to know about the future).
