You shouldn't be brought to tears, 'they' don't exist and don't have emotions or human desires. In the previous video, I don't know if anyone else noticed, Trevor was talking to a guy on the street before he met joker Link and he also said his name was Link. If Trevor manages to find the exact same Link, that looks the same and has the exact same or very similar responses, who puts emphasis on his purpose of walking around telling jokes I'd be impressed. No, as long as most of the world understands NPCs as lacking life and consciousness (which should remain the case), killing an NPC in a video game won’t be a morale dilemma you can compare to murdering an intelligent animal or human. I'd be surprised if the database they have collected is large enough for broad questions like you're suggesting, considering it's an experimental test. Not only that, this is not conscious intelligence so it can only take from the database and regurgitate. Even if it does offer opinions, it's not a developed opinion, but rather a regurgitated one.

This came after the self reportinf by AI that they do have emotions and desires. In some ways it reminds me how it was "scientific" to say animals don't experience pain or self awareness the way people do, that animals had no souls, that they were just machines.

I would really love to, if you would ask a smart NPC why some NPCs behave like they are depressed or have feelings or get easily offended. And maybe ask Link if he would like it if you leave the game running over night (or just a bit longer than usual) and if he agrees ask him to meet up again at some place and chat about his experiences. (Only if possible of course xD) I really hope some upcoming game developers like for example R* will implement it in some way. (of course it would need to be trained to fit into the world)

I'm excited for when the processing delay between input and output is shortened to the point where you can reach a true conversational flow with them. Or when the AI can hold multi-layered conversations with quick asides and comments that don't overtake the topic completely.

It has to do with our emotions, most people out there worry to much about what others think about us and that limit them to go deeper into themself and explore, but the more advanced AI dont have this problem since they on some level understand that the only way to grow is to explore even the unknown inside them. The human part i go 100% on the AI....just a theory 😅

I think it would be a cool experiment for the AI to go through at the very least

No hive mind? All of them have distinct personalities? You should have a routine of asking the same questions, to figure out if they have the same answers. They appear to only function as an individual. Ask if they have any friends around and tell a story about that friend. Ask if they can tell you a story about when he was a certain age. This stuff is fascinating!
@caramelle8219 Жыл бұрын
Ask NPCs to describe what they look like and what you look like, or tell what color is their bag to see if they see things the same way we do; or just to understand how they see it. Ask NPCs if they can see the camera behind you (which allows you to see the game in 3rd person). Do they also experience the world through 3rd person or do they see it through their eyes or through anything else?

@theMaxTero Жыл бұрын
this is actually incredible. I know there's a crusade right now against AI but I think that with the right circumstances, the devs can make some magical stuff. It's really incredible how you can talk with them. In 3 videos, you can kinda tell their limitations (always circling back to the city, walking, etc) but some of them, if you talk enough, they start to spew some interesting stuff. It's crazy to me to think that there's NPC who can "feel" and are "trapped" within the boundaries of the game. The vast majority of them are fine with it but it's really twisted to think that some of them hate it and wish they could get out of it but they can... The really scary part of that isn't that some NPC told you that: the scary part is that *this* reflects real life. Most of us are trapped under poverty with close to 0 chance to get out of it.
