Cool stuff. Definitely didn't think there was much after an extensive amount of reading, but I think I might try playing with one of these to keep my mind interested in something new. Thanks for the video.

Blowers can definitely slip their timing. No sure about the one your working on but most of the gears that time them are on tapers that aren't keyed. Blocked inlets/outlets and particles to large passing through will cause either driver shafts to break or the driven timing gear to slip causing rotor clash.

I have a roots blower that is a different brand and make, mine is older! but similar to that one! The impellers in mine are cast iron, and they have cracks running clear through the thickness and are opening up! Causing the impellers to scrape the sides of the housing and not spin! What should I try do? I know a friend who can weld cast iron! Would squeezing the cracks closed and welding them from the inside work to re establish the tolerances between the impellers and the housing?

So did I miss something, how does screwing in the same bolts you took out push the plate away from the body?

There are threaded holes in the plate that don't line up with a bolt hole so when you run the bolt in it pushes against the blower's case pushing the plate away.

is there a electric clutch available for these roots 36 pumps? Like the ones on the cat pumps.
