@@user-js8nf5zo4d This video is for TMJ disorder which is different from Cervical Dystonia or Spasmodic Torticollis. However these two disorders are related and one may cause the other or make the other worse. So you may find these exercises helpful for TMJ disorder if you have that too on top of Cervical Dystonia, but you should also try to find good exercises specifically for Cervical Dystonia. There are other KZbin videos and websites specifically for that too.

I've had TMJ for about 10 consecutive years, and not a single treatment/exercise video has EVER helped me, not a single one, so i just adapted to suffering with a jaw problem continually getting worse. This is the ONLY video that I felt actually work. I watched it first two days ago, and my jaw had felt a lot less clenched, and then two days later I tried the exercises again. I felt and heard the pop that had straightened my jaw out and i yelled "Holy shit" immediately after in disbelief, then looked at a bathroom to see my bottom teeth were actually properly aligned with the top. The left side of my jaw had been clenched for 10+ years. That mixed with a 2-year relationship going down the drain this past 2 weeks threw me into a major depression. This video actually feels like it was a life changing fresh start with all the bad luck I've been having lately. I cannot emphasize how thankful I am for this video. The rolling eyes to the opposite side of the cheek my tongue was pressed against was what finally did it for me, on the third day of using this video's exercises.

For the past two years I have had pain in my jaw that makes it difficult to eat at times. Once a year it randomly lets off for a month or so, but the rest of the time it hurts all day, every day. Lately it's been hurting me to smile and it's even been keeping me up at night, much worse than it's ever been. Yesterday, in desperation (before booking a dentist appointment for it), I hopped on youtube to try to learn about what was happening. I found your video. I did your exercises. I have now been 100% pain-free since I first did them 3 days ago- this, to me, is a kind of miracle. I've not had control over this pain for over two years. I had assumed I would feel that pain for the rest of my life. I have never found ANYTHING that helps. I can not thank you enough for posting this video. You have no idea what you've done for my quality of life by helping me to get rid of this persistent, increasingly-debilitating pain :) I'll be doing these exercises every day from now on!

Ok so I want to share my successtory here. What I had: more than 10 years of neck pain, back pain, nerve numbness all over my body, jaw pain, ear pain, headaches, an uneven looking face, never could keep my head straight, had bad sleep, ... I also have bruxism since I was a child. I couldn't keep my arms in the air for more than 10 seconds, I had bad posture etc... Nobody was able to tell me where I should start to fix all that. Physical therapy sessions only helped a bit. But I decided to do my research and be my own physical therapist, because I knew something was causing an imbalance in my body. Last week I found that imbalance, even if it was there already the whole time in front of me: my jaw. I saw this video and did all those exercises, and they helped quite a lot. I did so many chin tucks and it really helped a LOT for my neck. But a few days ago I found the number one thing that fixed everything: releasing the pterygoid muscles in my mouth. A few times a day, I palpate and squeeze the pterygoids for a minute. I only do it on the side where I lacked mobility in my jaw. It's crazy, my teeth/jaw are now aligned correctly, I feel the stress coming of the jaw and I feel it through whole my body. It's really weird because for the first time in many years I keep my head and teeth straight, which feels weird. I feel more balanced, flexible and I have good posture now. Just by doing one simple muscle release.

The open mouth exercises with the curled tongue are so good for you. You can do them throughout the day. Make sure to stop phone at least 1 hour before bed, do things that reduce stress like getting in nature and forgive others. You don't need any extra tension in your body. I hope this leads you to a life of caring for yourself and others.

The asymmetry was where my jaw is connected to the skull, leading to my jaw becoming uneven and my right face looking bigger than my left. This is slowly fixing my uneven jaw, I can see that. And it will probably fix my smaller face, but I'm also doing exercises where I fill my mouth with water and just try to hold it for as long as I can with a pufferfish face.

OH MY GOD my jaw has been in such immense pain for the last 4 days that I could hardly sleep or eat, I’ve been icing my face constantly. With the shelter in place order right now I am not able to leave my home or find a chiropractor to visit and this just gave me the best pain relief I’ve had yet. I’ve literally been trying to take ibuprofen and ice for DAYS and this solved my pain in 11 minutes. This is going to be my new daily routine.

Me too! I ended up seeing the dentist on a emergency visit since everything is closed. She told me to get a mouth guard to help ease the jaw from clunching at night. I got one at Target for $30 but I had to mold it to my teeth, it really helps the jaw to prevent further damage on the jaw and joints.. and you can have quality sleep :)

I've had such pain over the last 72 hours, only on right side. Expected to hear that I had cavities or worse still, abscess... have to mention right here that I'm terrified of the dentist. My amazing dentist inspected every tooth, x rayed & found no cavities or evidence of abscess. Advised that TMJ issue of grinding & clenching in my sleep has returned. I've been given anti-inflam drugs & pain killers as the pain has been so awful. Now that I've done each of these exercises, I'm actually yawning... I feel a tremendous sense of 'peace' in the jaw department ;) & relief from the gnawing pain. Thank you for this awesome video - I'm going to do these exercises daily from now on

I used drugs instead of natural methods too - and they don't work, or only for a short time then then make things worse. Videos like these are SUCH a blessing. Pete, you might also want to try somatic tracking for chronic pain videos. Often there is trapped emotion and stress behind the pain, and they help you feel and release it. Somatic tracking for pain and emotions helped me with chronic pain much more than meds ever did! This is a wonderfully helpful video. Thanks Dr. Fields!

i just wanted to come here and say that this series was the start of my TMJ healing process. I’ve had many false starts in the past where I thought I was making progress and then I’d fall right back into the same jaw pain, headaches, and biting my tongue to try and stop myself from constantly clenching my jaw. When I found this video, I thought it would provide me some short term relief and that’s it. But after keeping a routine by watching these videos weekly and learning the exercises so I can do them whenever I need them, I can say that this gave me way more than short term relief. I have a much more relaxed jaw now and i’m not unconsciously clenching it which was giving me TMJ flare ups, and I feel genuinely like my situation has changed for the better, even my jaw clicking isn’t as bad! Thank you so much Adam, this changed everything for me.

I have had TMJ since 2011 after being rear-ended and the ear jaw and neck pain ear ringing and headaches got worse over time of I say 8 months before I was diagnosed while in Michigan for 6 weeks visiting family and was told my jaw was out of alignment which explained other issues I was having. I wore an adjusted and fitted mouthpiece that slowly realigned my jaw. After that, I had a flare-up in 2015 then again in July of 2018 and is still there but since doing these exercise it is somewhat under control now unless I do things to flare it up like opening my mouth wide to eat or eating bagels and chewing hard candy even yelling too much aggravates my jaw. I am thankful for these exercises making my TMJ bearable to live with and hope it will ease off as it had before.

I had been referred to a specialist because of my jaw locking. Meanwhile I found and did these exercises, and when I eventually saw the specialist he confirmed that the exercises had worked and I needed no further treatment. Thank you so much for posting this video.

Amazing! My jaw had literally stopped popping by the end of the video! Going to follow videos no. 1, 2 and 3 on rotating days, to hopefully stop the popping and pain from returning. Thank you Adam, you smart and generous human being! ❤️

Wow, a lot of tension from major stress just disappeared by doing these exercises! You're a good teacher and don't rush things. it's so easy to do them along with you. And I love your scripts - they're so empowering as they teach people to heal themselves, listen to their bodies, and use movement and exercise to heal pain. Dancing is my most healing exercise - but these are being added to my regular list. What a difference they made! Many thanks, you are a bright blessing, Dr. Adam.
