Sisters represent the Philippines in the World Cup together

From Milwaukee to the World Cup! Two sisters who sharpened their soccer skills at UWM are shining on one of sports' biggest stages, helping power the Philippines to its first-ever Women's World Cup win.
Former UW-Milwaukee women's soccer player Olivia McDaniel represented the Philippines alongside her sister Chandler at the Women's World Cup, taking place in New Zealand and Australia.

True indeed.. the only burden of some of us filipinos that need to leave our motherland and go abroad for a decent paycheck to support our loved one’s back home and to have our own life in a foreign country and having a family with a foreign spouse is also a blessing. But the pride & joy of representing either parents nation is definitely the proudest moment of any player or athlete.

Very touching there at the end. And I can definitely relate to what the father was talking about. My son did not get to play at such a high stage or professional; but I do remember his team going up the ladder and qualifying for higher and higher tournaments. I remember the anxiety before the first game when he got to play at the state level. That was until the game started. At that point… it was just another game. Yes, it was faster, yes they needed more skills to be there; but they were there because they were ready and it was just another game at that point. Very cool stuff.

I am from New Zealand . We have rugby players in the All Blacks team who have Tongan, Samoan , Fijian blood lineage and we are all proud of them because they represent the NZ flag in competitions.

​@@beeoneder6799 My kid is FilAm. She's been playing soccer since she was 7 yo. It's summer vacation here but they still have summer camp for soccer and other sports. She's the only Pinay in the varsity soccer ⚽. I think their coaches are watching this fifa. They want to continue their training this fall and all year long. In their team is a mixed but I admire the energy and enthusiasm also of Latino kids. 60% are Latinos even the boys team besides you can't distinguish sometimes between a Filipino or a Latino. That DNA blood from the Manila Galeon trade is still there. 😅 Many Latinos don't know this. Of course we also acknowledge our Pacific islanders heritage. For some reason your faces and dialect are so much alike. Those ancestors were great sailors in the past. I hope we all can connect with all Pacific islanders not only in Asia.
