About the voice actor. I can''t remember who I heard it from it was another Tekken KZbinr. The voice actor for the narrator actually has come out and said he didn't like the way he was told to perform. In other words he wanted to add more life and character to his lines when reading but apparently he directors wanted him to sound so tone deaf and dull as possible on purpose. So even he hates the way his performance sounds, its just that it was not his decision to make at the end of the day on how it should sound.

I actually liked how things were left open ended, back then during Tekken's 1-5 we never really knew which ending was canon until the next entry. Even though it was obvious the Mishima's were the main focus, I still liked to imagine some being canon in their own ways.

Story modes, Tekken force (Devil Within, Scenario campaign etc) , team battle, survival, Tekken 6 customisation, A PROPER ARCADE MODE with cutscenes, rival fights, sub bosses etc. A lot of this is what made Tekken 5 one of the more well received Tekken games and they abandoned a lot of this now. Feels bad man.

One thing to note about tekken story overall is how stagnant all the characters are. If you look at characters in street fighter that aren't even involved in the main story have great character arcs through out the series IE Cody going from being Vigilante, to a depressed criminal, then becoming Metro city's mayor and he's damnear a guest character! Asuka is a character for example who has great potential in the main plot due to here abilities to suppress the devil gene and her unexplained relation to Jin but it goes nowhere and shes just been floundering around the past three games doing the same schoolgirl shtick.

In my opinion, Street Fighter, Samurai Shodown, The Last Blade, World Heroes and King of Fighters have done a great job with story telling. They are equally focused on ALL aspects, they know what they are doing and they improve on character development. At least they can do a one or two off story for one individual. Unlike Tekken, none of the endings are canon. That fighting game series has too many retcons and unanswered questions with zero answers toward plot holes for the characters. Ultimately, Tekken is going nowhere and we have a director who doesn't even care about story telling or he's got like zero creative vision with what he wants. They don't even know what they are doing at all. Bandai Namco executives, Harada and Murray only want money from our pockets. Their main focus was Esports, competition, money, graphics and gameplay rather than story. The Mishima Saga has got to be the worst storyline I've ever heard in my life.

And people, as TMM said, didn't like it. The majority casual fans said they liked the cgi action cutscenes better than the narrative heavy cutscenes. So after tekken 4, tekken went back to its roots and had a lot of endings where characters did stuff without saying anything with some exceptions. I prefer a mix of advancing the story of one's character and some fitting action sequences. Armor King, King, Marduk in tekken 6 was one of the good ones in tekken 6.

I like how Heihachi tried to announce the new tournament of T7, after a WW3 that took place in Tekken 6 against Jin/Kazuya but he never does it and randomly attacks Claudio while asking for his help _(because obviously Tekken has had an exorcist cult all this time but never been mentioned before 🙄)_ . Then Akuma comes all of a suddenly, ruins Heihachi's weird non-executed plane and Kazuya just ends up fighting Akuma. It's impossible to figure which direction Harada wanted the story to go, especially when every other character in the weak story was underutilized the whole time.

See Raven, Asuka (with the supress Devil Gene power that hasn't do shit plus been a cousin of Jin), Dragunov, Zafina, Yoshimitsu, etc... so so SO wasted, all of them. Yoshimitsu appeared in the first game of course, but he has a better story in Soul Calibur than here, they made him a comic relief, instead that a cool and good samurai/ninjna/robotic thing also Claudio... men... they could have showed us way more about the Sirius exorcits, where they have been, why they didn't appear before, how they opperate, more characters surrounding that or Claudio actually doing any shit appart from been Heihachi's dog.

You know, the sad thing was I was really looking forward to Story Mode in Tekken 7. I've always been a fan of the serious side of the lore, from the first Tekken to now. Every time they decided to make a cheesy, silly ending movie for one of the characters, it was very cringe-inducing, but it wasn't so pervasive that I didn't think it was a problem, until T6. I'd say all the way to T5 they did a good job of alluding to a bigger, epic story, where they showed more than they explained through exposition. Less dialogue. More emotive animations. Tekken 7 was supposed to be the Story Mode to tie it all together and create a cinematic experience to live through each character's journey. I was expecting so, so much more. It really isn't even that difficult, and I don't know how they've allowed it to be turned into this complete pile of excrement. At this point, I'd love to see an update to the game to just completely remove Story Mode and all character ending animations. None of them are worth watching. I used to beat Tekken 2 and Tekken 3 on single player to pass time and see one of the ending animations. They were interesting, and made me imagine more to the character's backstory and connect more with the game overall. I'm also salty to an extra degree because of Yoshimitsu's ending animation. Absolute utter trash. Even the ending in Tekken 6 was better. How is Yoshi being put in the corner in the plot? He's one of the main original characters FFS! Give him a proper plot!

It wasn't anything cinematic, just a simple tournament where every character in that roster was a participant and you got to learn about their reason for entering the tournament and find out at the end whether or not they achieve what they came for.

I really disliked the narrator and how they completely rewrote the Heihachi and Kazuya storyline in order to make room for Kazumi, who might be my least favorite Tekken character of all time, I might not like Alisa and Lars, but at least they had a backstory that was built upon in Tekken's scenario mode, which had good pacing, this story mode had terrible pacing, it retconned very important elements of the story and it made some of the best characters in Tekken's lore to look like one dimensional chumps, look at how little time Jin got, this was clearly an attempt to compete with Mortal Kombat's flashy story modes, which are even worse than Tekken 7's btw if you understand MK lore.

First of all, the voice actor wanted to add more life to the dialogues but they told him to speak lifelessly or something. And then i think it kind of make sense, when u r talking about something that happened some time ago, u dont cry about it or have a specific tone. U just tell the story plainly, showing its not a big thing anymore. Imagine the narrator crying and saying "my whole family had died". He wont do that, he been through it already and its been a long time. He would just say it in a lifeless tone. I dont see anything wrong with it personally.

I just replayed this today, first time since launch. I didn’t really care for it back then, I thought it had some cool moments but the last 10 minutes is the only worthwhile part. My thoughts have changed, I definitely dislike it more now. Maybe it’s cuz Tekken 7 isn’t new anymore and Tekken 8 looks so much better. I think it was a conscious choice, to make the journalist seems as plain and "normal" as possible, in comparison to the outlandish cast of Tekken. This guy is truly a regular joe. I don't enjoy listening to it either, but I understand the purpose.

You know what's really stupid that no one talks about? The fact that all these characters understand each other, despite massive language barriers between them all. At least T4 gave that aspect of it some thought, to the point to where Hworang speaks perfect English in addition to Korean. It just shows how little thought goes into anything other than fight mechanics during development, and it's pretty insulting.

that narrator sounds like he is on Valium. It's a shame Yahtzee (Zero Punctuation) made no review to this game. There would have been a lot of things he could have said about the story mode

In season 4 they could add story dlc to conclude the Tekken saga. Then next we get Tekken X Street Fighter instead of Tekken 8. What makes this theory more likely is that Jun Kazama could be a dlc character in season 4. I believe in season 4 we will get Christie Monteiro,Kiryu from Yakuza,Kuminitsu and Jun Kazama.

@Tcb bct Street Fighter X Tekken was a failure because of the Disc dlc controversy and Capcom just handled the game very poorly. Street fighter 5 when it first came out in 2016 was very embarrassing. Marvel vs Capcom Infinite was also a failure because of its lackluster and laughable graphics engine. Sometimes Capcom just rushes their games. As for Tekken tag tournament 2 the graphics were really average and the combo system was extremely difficult and intimidating which made the game a failure. However Tekken X Street Fighter does not have to be tag team based at all. It can simply be one vs one. Who said Tekken X Street Fighter must have the tag gimmick? Furthermore when Harada asked fans which game they rather have the majority of them said Tekken X Street Fighter. So there is a high demand for Tekken X Street Fighter. However I'm fine with Tekken 8.
