One of my favorite aspects of this movie is how the Turtles interact with the other mutants. For years we've been used to them fighting the likes of Bebop and Rocksteady. In Mutant Mayhem, they get out of the van and basically say "Hey, you're Mutants! We're Mutants too! We should hang out!". All of the Mutants just want to be accepted by human society. As we clearly saw, none of the the other Mutants wanted to go along with Superfly's evil scheme once the Turtles presented them with a better way to live. At the end of the movie, all of the Mutants (except Superfly) are back in the sewers as one big family, and there is something truly heartwarming about that. This movie, at its core, is all about acceptance. Considering the story revolves around four actual teenagers, Mutant Mayhem is one of the most grounded bits of media this franchise has ever produced.

Finally got to see the movie, I loved it! The only thing I had to get used to was the voices since I'm so used to the turtles sounding like they are in their 20's as opposed to actual teenagers, but I do really like these versions of the turtles. And I'm very grateful Mikey wasn't relegated to the idiot, he's just vibing

was looking forward to your review on this. I completely agree on the characterizations, I really wanted to see the turtles develop and see more of their past personalities integrated here (Donnie isn't using any tech jargon? Absurd!). That compared with how little screen time Bebop and Rocksteady get made me a little underwhelmed. I really hope the turtles' personalities are explored more in the future content they're planning. Action was still great though and this is the best chemistry the brothers have ever had. That aside, I was surprised to hear you were bored with 2007?? I'd love to hear your thoughts in depth on the other tmnt movies if you ever get the chance to do a vid on them.

I was also bored by the 2007 movie and I was a kid when I first saw it. There are a few things I like from that movie like the Leo and Raph fight but overall it was very underwhelming. That's how I see it anyway.

It definitely gave me late 90s early 2000s vibes. The animation reminded me of that really wacky artstyle used in Spectacular Spider-man and The Batman cartoons. I also noticed that the separate Turtles sort of echo the several different designs from over the years, like Leo looks like the 87 ones and Mikey reminded me of the 2003 ones. May be just me tho

I really enjoyed the movie and the interpretations as well. I grew up watching the 2012 show and was a big fan of it. Unlike that interpretation… I think that focusing more on the fact they are teenagers is a great idea. Every time the four of them talked over one-another felt like they had a genuine connection as brothers!

Just saw it-- it was so unexpected, and the different characterization caught me off guard, but delighted me. It was hilarious, heartfelt, and had tons of Easter Eggs for fans. A superb animated film.

Just walked out the theater. Lots of jokes that felt like they were trying (and failing) to appeal to teens. The plot itself worked though. Basic, but it does what it needs to. The character bonds were nice, although the romance subplot felt forced in the few scenes they remembered it was there. 8/10, it's definitely better than the trailers lead on.

The teenage actors playing the turtles had heavy influence on the script and often ad-libbed with each other during recording, it's more of a you problem if you didn't like the humor.

I love this movie so much. Yes it's quite silly and mostly jokes but it does have just enough non-jokey moments for it to feel like a real movie and they're all so goofy. I am so incredibly happy they're such oddballs here and I am greatly anticipating the show :D

I went to an early screening on Monday for this, and thought the movie was pretty alright (2nd best theatrical tmnt I would say, though i admit that is a reflection of how i felt none beat the first and Michael Bay era was bad). I generally agree with your viewpoints, although i am way harsher on the TMNT personalities (it is way too much like having Four Mikeys, and their snarking went too far when they were doing it when their shells were getting cracked and death loomed upon them. Like, seriously, you know it's bad when 4Kids is taking the stakes more seriously). Splinter was probably the best character in the movie. He is one of the few to have a distinct personality, character growth, AND a good action scene. The movie felt like it was about him more than the Turtles themselves.

Eh, everything I keep hearing is that this might be a good movie, but is not for me. I do like a bit more depth to my turtles, like the comics and 03 version. And no, i don't fully excuse "it's for kids" as a carte blanche excuse. Swat Kats, ATLA, Gravity Falls, etc are nominal for kids but have some layers...some more than others 😄 Still, acknowledging I'm not the target audience. Thanks for the video though!

I think Cynthia Utrom is a robot with a Krang like alien operating her. Krang was inspired from the Utrom creatures in the comics that created the Mutagan which created the Turtles, Splinter and the others in the first place.

Yeah, TCRI in this movie is a mix of different TCRIs from other properties. It’s run by Utrom (Mirage), developed the Mutagen (2003), and Baxter Stockman is there (IDW).

9:15 Speaking of Blippi, when my and my family went to see The Super Mario Bros Movie back in April, they played a trailer for a movie based on Blippi. That might be the only thing I hated when I went to see Mario in theaters, plus is started booing when that trailer went on only for my dad to tell me to stop booing about a few seconds into the trailer. The rest of the experience after Blippi was great though, and after the Mario movie ended, everyone started clapping! Apart from that terrible Blippi trailer everything else about seeing Mario was awesome. Thankfully the other movies I've seen after Mario didn't have a Blippi trailer in it and I hope the same doesn't happen with this movie when I hopefully see it.

it was super fun. just saw it today. i still think it was weird to cast...Jackie Chan as Splinter...until he got his epic fight scene that was something straight out of an old Jackie Chan flick. In the end even parts I was weary about ended up working fairly well. Bit too much puke for my liking is probably my biggest complaint lol

It objectively destroys 40 years of established canon of how the turtles act and how they respond to splinter who is their sensei and father figure. I watched this movie the day it came out with my wife and 6 year old daughter. My daughter was bored and my wife hated it too, probably not as much as me cause im a turtle head when i have loved all the media and she just loves the 87 cartoon, but that being said we both walked out absolutely annoyed and disappointed.
