It's crazy how Playmates TMNT gets paired with just about everything. Not a Turtles fan myself, but I think of all the 2-pack sets, I'm all in on this one. Excited to see a Guile figure. Love the scale on these SF figures.

While I was initially interested in these sets, after seeing what Jada Toys has in store there's absolutely no reason for me to pick these up.

Even better since it's clear they are in it for the long haul, with them saying they have plans for multiple waves of Street Fighter after the first wave hits store shelves.

Playmates really need to just let these moulds _die_ already. I think these are the worst use of the Classics moulds too, god damn. Ryu looks pretty off but Chun-Li looks alright.

Thanks for showcasing these, I've been waiting for a review for so long! The SF figures seem cool, and I'd get them if they were available by themselves sans turtles. That being said, each time Ryu's name is mispronounced, an angel loses its wings!

The fact that playmates is re release the same TMNT sculpt and a subpar Ryu with no accessories is just insulting. I love both of these properties but seeing them mishandled is just…wow.

If these came out 12 years ago, I would've been all in. I think I'll pass though, as I'm not into TMNT nearly as much as I was back in the 90's. I like the scale of the SF figures though. I have the Storm Collectibles SF figures, but having some in smaller scale to go up against my Marvel figures would be pretty cool. Hoping the Jada figures deliver. They definitely look better for sure. Street Fighter is one of those franchises which I don't mind having the same character a few times over, in various scales from various companies. So with that being said, I may even pick these playmates versions up if/when they go on clearance.

Playmates never seems to be good with accessories, some hadoken palm hands with Ryu would have gone a long way. While its not my preferred styling, I have to admit the sculpt of the SF characters have a real vintage feel, like it was more taken inspiration from the art and marketing of the early 90s and SF2 rather than later renditions. Not what I would have preferred, but definitely looks like something of an intentional decision. The Turtles are starting to show their age. As a $20ish figure, they were a good option a decade ago, but now they just don't hold up to current offerings. Still, everyone else's prices are going up so I guess thats the trade off. I'm very impressed with the Ryu and Chun-Li standing next to some ML. I've always wanted a MvC display but there's just been so few and far between Capcom options. The Figuarts just don't measure up and Storm Collectibles are wildly too big

Out of curiosity, are the street fighter figures as easy to remove as say a marvel legends? I saw these for the first time at target yesterday (I didn’t even know these we coming out let alone announced). As a big Tmnt fan I’ve been needing to restart my collection but the biggest draw to me was the ryu figure in the 6” scale at a cheap price to be able to have an unhelmeted head for the upcoming Crimson Hawk ranger as I am first and foremost a Power Rangers fan and that release infamously is perfect looking BUT doesn’t come with swappable civilian heads.

No, you will have to boil and pop them. I put a mug of water in the microwave for 2 min and left Ryu in there for about 45 seconds and it came off just fine. Be aware though that the hole is much smaller than a legend, more like a Mattel Elite. Depending on the size of your Crimson Hawk's peg hole you might need to do some dremeling.

Affordable is the key. Jada has a new line of Street Fighter figures coming next year, but I don't know how much they will be. Their Monsters are like $25 each, though, so if that's their usual range it should be fine.

Nice review! Wish the turtles took more cues from the video game. Give them pupils and tampo on some pixel shading instead of the Mirage look. And it is sad that the Ryu and Chun-Li didn't come with accessories, even Hasbro with their Power Ranger-ized Street Fighters gave them their signature attack effects.

They were never perfect but it’s past time to retire those dated turtle molds. The fairly well hidden mid torso joint is nice though and I think we should see it more often on turtles.

If they go beyond the four Turtles, Shredder vs Bison would be great. As for Casey, I feel like pitting him against Vega would be perfect because of the masks. Shredder vs Vega would also be fun because of the claws. Splinter vs Dhalsim would be fun.

Jada Toys has a line of Street Fighter figures coming next year which will likely be a better bet. These nice, and I like them, but they have no accessories, and we have no promise of other figures beyond Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, and Guile. If they do more that would be great. I'd love a whole set of these, but I hesitate to commit or suggest commit when I know a potentially superior line is coming. Especially if you are plunking down $40 a pop just for Street Fighter.

I have been curious about these figures. I collect Street Fighter figures. Likewise, I'm not impressed with the figures in this set. The lines on the turtles are off-putting. The sculpt for the Street Fighters is soft, and I'm not a fan of the art the characters reference. Now I am interested how Jada Toys will do with their Street Fighter figures?
