Definitely! They should have taken the time to search the right singers years back for Whitney's tribute and for Vanessa Williams tribute. I couldn't believe it. No deep thought was put into the line up for Faith's tribute either. Smh You could tell they looked disappointed but were just being as gracious as they could. I'll say the artists had good voices of course but were bad choices for those songs. The only tributes I enjoyed so far is this one to Anita, Chaka, Patti. and Stephanie Mills. Only thing is they should've had more than 3 artists to tribute Stephanie

Older Black folks, make sure future generations know about Anita Baker and her music! Let it play during parties, around the house during weekend cleaning sessions, etc.. The children must know about Auntie Anita, for she's a LEGEND!
@uaintseememaaan89014 ай бұрын
80’s baby here and I second this. I second all of this. I play Anita for my kids religiously, especially the girls because Anita was one of the few female artists in history that sang directly to a man’s heart; flaws and all, she was honest and this is exactly why I love her.

Whoever produced this segment should have received a Grammy. This is Soul Train's best tribute to date (the others aren't remotely close). All singers were awesome. Chrisette sounding good, Toni B also would have also been a nice alternative to open. Tamia was tight. It took me a couple of watches to get into Faith Evans but I'm feeling her performance. Kem my dude keeping it mellow, and Rachel Ferrell is a straight beast. Lalah lower range intro into the song (Oh my goodneess!!!), "Angel" was flawless. I never heard of Goapele until I saw this years ago, I have been a fan ever since (unique tone). Dionne Farris is a great talent, I didn't understand why they put her with Goapele. El Debarge was most impressive because of what he has been through in the past and still has his voice. He brought his "A game" and takes it up a couple of octaves to end the song. Please stay clean my brother. Outstanding tribute!!!

The Soul Train awards is from us to us...why should we care what white people think of our music and culture? Why is it some of us still value themselves by the white man's opinion? I guess to them what the Black man built ain't shit unless the white man says so.
