A quick overview of the new Haltech TMS-4 Tyre Monitoring System. The Haltech TMS-4 is a simple, plug and play way to measure both tyre temperature and pressures through Haltech Elite and NEXUS series ECUs. In this video we cover the basic product features along with installation and setup procedures. Got any questions about this product? Let us know in the comments below:) ---- More info and pricing here: www.haltech.com/new-release-tms-4-tyre-management-system/

I was thinking about figuring out how to integrate a factory subaru TMPS module into my setup, well.... Now I don't have to, thanks guys! Question though: is the 433mhz sensor a universal style, in that to replace it I can do it from any parts house or do I require purchasing a replacement set from you guys directly?

Will the multi function can gauge (gauge art) be able to display this information if I don't have an ic7 dash.?
@coolwil37063 жыл бұрын
I was curious about that as well, I have a platinum pro ecu with the multi gauge
@markavramovic1113 жыл бұрын
Excellent question. I have the can gauge as well. Fingers crossed the answer is 'yes'. I wonder how quickly the information is transmitted to the ECU so it can be logged with a GPS reference and you can see how hot the tyres get with real time braking, cornering and accelerating on various parts of the track.

Very cool. Will CAN protocol specs be available for those of us that love Haltech but can't run an Elite series ECU?
@Camhin13 жыл бұрын
Probs not.

I emailed tech support and got the full canbus protocol specs. You can probably do the same. I really, really, realllllly wish haltech would do some sorta open canbus config for data input and output! Having the "closed" protocol works in the meantime.

What kind of resolution do these have? I love the idea but I only operate between 10-12 psi and would like enough resolution that I can monitor tire performance

Very Nice. Will this data flow out the CAN bus to a data logger like a AIM MXL2 Dash ?
@haltech3 жыл бұрын
At this stage it can only be logged to the Haltech ECU.
@davidstrittmatter2543 жыл бұрын

Not at this stage, but it depends, as always, on the demand.

@@haltech I was not planning on buying an ic7, I was also hoping I'd be able to see the data over can so I can use the can to OBD adapter you sell, HT-135000 or perhaps the gaugeart display. As it stands there are too many shortcomings for me. I want to love it.

This kit only really needs one extra thing, it's own display of tyre temps and pressures, or at least Bluetooth capability of some sort. I have the elite pro plug in on my Falcon, but don't have the IC7 dash display. Really do like the idea of this thing though!

@@racetune, thanks for the tip guys, I'll have a look into it 👍 For the time being while mine is still performing daily duties, I really wanna keep the stock dash. When it becomes a weekender/racecar I'll probably get the IC7
@racetune3 жыл бұрын
@@bigpotential82 Honestly man , the IC-7 dash is a game changer even for my street car. I've got a genuine Supra TRD 3 gauge set that's worth a mint, and I put that into storage, ran a Mako Motorsport 3d printed dash insert for the IC-7 and it's got that modern 2020 updated look with all the info and engine warnings. No more AFR gauges and pod gauges cluttering things up - it's all there on the IC-7 looking sleek and highly functional - especially when combined with an elite/nexus that can throw up DTC codes if something those awry. Haltech have done well to engineer and position themselves into the affordable, yet highly functional category of ECU and tuning parts. My next move is a Nexus to do away with a lot of the ancillary boxes and run the integrated PDM instead of all these relays in the race car.

Super cool, but will need some polish. Buying a new kit just because one of the internal sensor batteries died is insane.
@haltech3 жыл бұрын
The external kit has removable/exchangeable batteries.
@racetune3 жыл бұрын
That's how they come from the manufacture. It's a common thing unfortunately. Buy the external kit with changeable batteries and you can switch it between each race tire set etc.
@regularguy85927 ай бұрын
I just ordered one but they need to make it an option to use 5 sensors so that spare tire pressure will show up too, which might even be more important than monitoring the other 4 tires because one usually knows when they have a flat but I have went to put a spare on many times only to find out its already flat
@samalfonso79 Жыл бұрын
Is there any way this can work with a platinum plug in or just strictly for elites?
@haltech Жыл бұрын
Sorry, Elite onwards only. Platinum Series do not support it.
@HazeyAuto3 жыл бұрын
What’s the maximum amount of sensors that can be read at once? Would be cool if you could also monitor pressures on the race trailer, or if you’re carrying a seperate set of tyres to the track, and be able to disable alarms that certain sensors can’t be read because they’re not on the car and therefore not in range. Then you could also custom title the tyre names that would appear in the Dash.

Will these work with other ecu's? Does it have 0-5v outputs or is it only on the canbus?

Will replacement internal sensors be available to purchase or will you need to buy the whole kit again and have a spare module added to the collection every 2 years?
@haltech3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the sensors are coded to match the TMS module so yes, it's the whole kit that will need replacing.
@ProMilkshake3 жыл бұрын
@@haltech that does sound a little wasteful, considering a simple battery replacement would bring them back to life.
@mrasrrcom1113 жыл бұрын
@@haltech Kind of a shame that they can't be repaired with different (replacement) sensors
@haltech3 жыл бұрын
You can do that on the external sensors but the internal ones are sealed units so it's impossible to change battery. The sensors and the TMS module are match coded to make the installation nice and easy.
@pontiacg4453 жыл бұрын
@@haltech Aren't there aftermarket tools that more or less allow coding an aftermarket TPMS to exactly replicate an old one? To bypass reprogramming or relearning OEM TPMS modules? Seems like it'd work in this case too. If you guys have the IDs as programmed or if customers get the things scanned before they completely bite it I imagine it's possible to reprogram the new sensor itself.

Would also be easier to inflate and deflate tyres when you need to adjust pressure as you don’t need to loosen the locking nut
@speedjunkie13 Жыл бұрын
I've bought TPMS sets on Amazon and tried both kinds. First, I tried the external sensors, but one of my tires kept losing air. I realized that the sensor on the end of the rubber valve stem was too heavy, and at speed, it was bending the valve stem enough to cause a leak. That problem went away once I got some internal sensors. Now, the little gauge has failed, so I'm looking into doing these. My only gripe is that you have to replace the entire internal sensor instead of just the battery.

Replacing an entire kit is not consumer friendly or economical. The forward thinking to setup a sensor exchange/programming service would only benefit the customer and decrease unit/kit sales. So it's not profit friendly. Making your product send in serviceable with a fee is far better than non serviceable. It might hurt unit sales but in the broad longterm it will satisfy your customer base.

I'll bet someone with a code scanner can figure out the sensor type then they can be cloned. Besides lets face it. This is targeted at racers. Us racers use way more than just four tires. It's nothing to take 12 tires and wheels to a weekend road race competition.

New vehicles with fancy TPS - eh who cares. Haltech vehicle with TPS - HECK YEAH
@racetune3 жыл бұрын
New vehicle fancy TPS is just a display - you can't get any can data from it nor can you throw a DTC or conditional code up as a warning etc or have contingency maps regarding tyre temp and pressure. It could mean a lot for those racing 1/8 or 1/4 mile for example who can fine tune their starting tire pressure. It's also handy for circuit racing cars to have a warning system or tire pressure warning come up on the IC-7. Yes it forces you to invest more in the haltech universe with the IC-7 Display to get the best output as well as the elite / nexus ecus - but after upgrading from a Motec M800 then PS2K to Elite 2500 it's been worth it.
