The attack of the EQ sounds either too slow or too fast. You can hear a popping sound from the piano once the vocals duck it. The pop either should be softened with a slower attack, or eliminated with a very fast attack.

That video nearly made me give up on the plug-in - having to put 2 instances, add a return channel and then route 1 of them... Too much hastle. Just put it on the channel that needs to be compressed, and from Ableton's plugin settings on the instance there use the drop-down to show what is the signal that will be 'dominating' and that's it.

Question: Why use this plug in when you can just simply sidechain the piano to the vocals?
@PluginBoutiqueOfficial3 жыл бұрын
This is that but over 32-bands instead of just one. This is far more surgical than a standard sidechain. For example, there is no reason to remove/duck the low-end of the piano when the vocal doesn't have frequencies there. - JC
@youngpatrick294 жыл бұрын
is is achieving the same result as parallel compression but with a different method. you should of made the example with kicks on bass/ leads, to have a better comparison for most people that use parallel compression
@therealrussellsmyth4 жыл бұрын
Fab thank you
@albundy43223 жыл бұрын
There are important features missing in TrackSpacer: To squish the '32 analyzing eq's' in to a predefinable frequency range From Hz - To Hz. So analyzing a tonal Bass can reduce the wide beef of a Kick Drum. The reason is simple, if you side chain a Bass by Kick-frequencies, then you simply duck the complete Bass because of the wide beef of the Kick.

TrackSpacer or Surfer EQ?
@overbe6 жыл бұрын
Apples and oranges
@jahre99044 жыл бұрын
For this specific purpose, I would use Surfer EQ. You have more control over what frequencies are ducking, the attack and release. You could surgically duck frequencies if need be with Surfer, this will allow the majority of the piano to come through but not drown out either vocal or piano.

Can't u just use ableton stock compressor to do the same? what's the point of this vst? plus the stock plugin in ableton lets u adjust the ratio / attack and release as well
@hammerpocket5 жыл бұрын
A compressor would lower the track volume, whereas TrackSpacer reduces frequencies in the specific range of the side chain signal. It is sort of like using a multi band compressor, if that compressor had 32 bands and could automatically change the frequency range of those bands in real time.
