I really want to know the reason why Rene wont marry Yvette. They eachother deeply, in "Secret Army" Albert doesn't marry Monique because all he cares about is his restaurant, and money and when he gets arrested Monique does not even try to save him or even see him because she has to keep watch over the restaurant. It is stated she becomes strong and independent and she eventually falls out of love with Albert despite being his" mistress" she marries a captain and they leave for London at the end of the war. In Allo Allo the last episode states that Yvette and Rene stay together for 48 years and he elopes with her to Spain to have a very happy new life. All they ever wanted was to be together. The whole series is about what is Rene's destiny in the war. and his passionate and secretlive love for Yvette and hiding it from his stupid wife Edith.

Edith legally owned the cafe if he’d left her he’d be broke. One reason he wanted to get the Fallen Madonna so he could sell it for money to be with Yvette. Of course early on he was cheating on her with Maria so he wasn’t serious at first

Ir required may years for this comedy to be translated into German but the German audience was not amused.

I'm not surprised. I'm a native German speaker but have spent 4 decades in the UK. I can't see how the linguistic tricks and use of accents could be translated into German. Additionally, things like The Gestapo Dance are just too inappropriate even if funny.
