It's so weird... I have the Star Trek Technical Manual on CD-ROM and this is the noise you hear when you enter someone's quarters... I used to load that up and listen to it as I feel asleep. This was like 1995 or something.

Question: When you are in the middle of space, how do you tell night and day apart? Also, time is relative to speed. So, if two Federation-ships meet, wouldn't they have totally different on-board times due to different speeds and all?
@johnniecarr-murphy25087 жыл бұрын
i would assume the ship would have a clock relative to it's own speed and going from ship to ship or onto a planet would have a jetlag equivalent
@eight-cloudspurple58716 жыл бұрын
Standardized day/night cycle for ships, and space stations use whatever close-by planets cycle(so long its not too ridiculous). Deep Space 9 for example use 26 hour bajoran cycle. As for relativity and dilation, I am not exactly sure what you mean but ships have standardized cycle, and since starfleet ships very rarely go to any significant fraction of light speed, they dont really have much of a issue with time dilation and such. Warp travel does not screw with relatovity either since its not newtonian movement, but rather space-time continuum itself is "pushing" the ship. I recall technical manuals and such usually have more detail explanation bit thats the general idea
