Snow forced down the signals' semaphore arms in the accident. The episode also draws some influence from the 1937 Castlecary rail accident, which involved frozen points and a possibly malfunctioning signal.

Also, apparently for another fact is basically that the L M S Railway class 5MT Black Five steam-driven railway tender locomotives were obviously designed to haul goods trains quite amazingly outstandingly easily along with the official observational observation of passengers!
