The Stinger is what I use in my pocket carry pistols. The extra "oomph" of the Stinger gives reliable semi-auto pistol performance. I am confident the Stinger will make the proper impression a potential bad guy. Only downside, many others seem to agree with me and it is almost impossible to find to purchase.

@TheKalkara1315 жыл бұрын
While I agree that 22 is much better than a lot of people say, I'd disagree about a single 22 reliably stopping someone. All it takes is looking up body cam footage to show that 9mm, or even 40 won't always stop someone with a single shot. There are videos showing people soaking up those calibers before they go down. And these stingers generate almost half the ft lbs of an average 9mm.

Jiří Dušek Yep. Ppl just look and say oh a .22. Well if it’s “oh a .22” stand there and take a couple and see if your saying “oh”. Any round out of a decent firearm is lethal. Shit even a damn Hi Point is lethal if it shoots

I use a Ruger Mark III Hunter which is very nice to use. I was impressed by the cavity and tumble effect. Stinger is a very good brand and I have some I use. A 22 is a good cartridge not only for plinking fun, training new shooters, and having less noise footprint, but this showed some reasons why a rabbit might worry. Exactly. I don't know why people like shooting lighter bullets just for FPS! They don't understand that F=M*A. The problem with light bullets is that they decelerate faster once they leave the barrel, so you are losing potential energy. Heavier bullets are also lest resistant to wind and more accurate. People in the .40 videos keep saying they like the lighter bullets because they go faster and therefore more powerful. The heavier 180g bullets are more available + they are subsonic!

RIGHT, for anybody that is worried about stingers in 10/22's i bear good news. from the ruger manual (i just purchased a 10/22) this is what it reads. "Stinger" Cartridges have longer cases then .22lr loaded to u.s. specifications. They can stick in the ruger TARGET chambers, which can result in ruptured cases. DO NOT USE STINGERS IN TARGET RIFLE 10/22's. stingers are fine in stock barrels just not target barrels. hope this clears things up with some people that were worried. your welcome :D

CCI stinger rounds are designed for longer barrel lengths. Their ballistic potential is largely wasted in a handgun because the powder is slower burning. Hence more muzzle blast and noise without much gain in velocity. In a mouse-gun ( a pocket pistol) I would carry standard velocity stuff with 40 grain solid points. That said. The CCI Stingers from a rifle are another matter. In that realm, the compromise of bullet weight for a big gain in velocity is worth it.

@deairriusmcclain Cci is a brand of .22 ammo (considered one if not the best) .22 ammo brand on the market. If you intend to use a suppressor like I do go for subsonic ammunition ( you don't tend to scare all animals in a 2mile radius) but if your wanting distance and power in a .22 I recommend Cci segmented holopoints or stingers. Usually with a larger grain bullet you will see slower velocities. Hope this helps

.22 LR Stingers are great. I hunt javelina with them at ranges under 50 yards. I remember shooting one on back of the shoulder, the bullet carved the bottom part of the spine hit a rib and bounced up to the neck and landed in the animal's jaw. Its a good round for varmits at close ranges. I wil not use them to hunt rabbits because it will do too much damange.
@TheCartoonHead13 жыл бұрын
If your testing for defence or hunting purposes you need to place denim, clothing or fur over the front of the ballistic medium. This will given you a better idea of penetration & bullet expansion :)

I carry a 22lr. the bottom line is this. a bullet is a bullet. I have witnessed a 22 pellet penetrate a metal ammo can. if a round can penetrate metal, plywood, or lumber over 1/2" thick it will go in and devastate human tissue. i know without a doubt i can group at 15-20 yards plenty well enough to hit an area the size of a palm of a hand. this being the case i am very comfortable and will trust my life and loved ones with this caliber. yes a 9mm will obviously cause more damage. but lets say you are in a crowed area and there are many innocent ppl around. do i want to risk a 9mm over penetrating and killing someone who is not a threat to everyone, NO, no one in there right mind would do that. yes there are certain rounds such as the +P 2000fps 9mm from liberty defense that is designed to not over penetrate but its not a guarantee. i started carrying a 22lr mainly due to affordability. but frankly i dont see why people wouldnt carry it more. it is used in urban combat (such as swat teams) and urban snipers (such as swat) due to the ability to take out a bad guy and not hit innocent people. a 22lr will kill u, and can go clean through you with the right round. if the round penetrates 12" it will surely go through anyones chest. shit a 22 pellet can go clean through bone and that has around 15ftlbs when a cci stinger has 191ft lbs. a lot of the companies or should i say "gun shops" push that you shouldnt carry any less then .40 or say if i were you id get a .45acp i feel the reason to this is the fact that they will make a killing on the ammo. its not the effectiveness of the round its them fattening there pockets. the FBI is now going back to the 9mm due the the cost and effectiveness of the round. in my opinion there is never a need to go higher then a 9mm in most locations in the world. minus war, mountains, and the open wild in which i personally would recommend carrying a 9mm but also having a .44 mag, .454, or .50 due to large wildlife such as grizzly's, and mountain lions. to be honest idc if someone is pointing a 50bmg at me or a pellet gun either can kill you and either is highly dangerous in the wrong persons hands.

@PeaceManBro9 жыл бұрын
Dah Flipper centerfire is almost always more reliable, no matter how high end it is, but if you say youve never had an issue with 22 is a lie, if you really shoot you will have malfunctions no matter what. Ive put about 7k rounds through my m&p and I got my first double feed the other day, if you shoot more youll see all guns and ammo malfunctions, especially rimfire.
@_j.v.st._73679 жыл бұрын
+Dah Flipper With the right construction .22lr is nice. I like the segmenting (3 segments and a base). Segments are better in my opinion than fragments , because fragments often can be too small to go deep enough and with that become unreliable. Thats not the case with segments. Over all its more a thing of hit propability, landing a hit that incapacitate an attacker (or serval) are far better than dont hit with a .45 , also at pistol rounds its more a thing of what place is hit, at a critical area a .45 dont do a lot more than a good .22, and at non vital areas the damage diffrence a pistol rounds is marginal. Over all i prefer hit propability over "power" that overall do a small diffrence in wounds. Decades ago there was a research programm from the US Army, the tested rifle produced 3times the casualtys of the m14 due to the higher hit propabilty. Overall im not sure if i would use .22lr, i dont know how it reacts to thick clothing, ribs, penetration trough the shoulder, etc. I think i would use FN 5.7x28. (.22magnum also is nice but im not sure about rimmed cartriges)
@gluemuncher19868 жыл бұрын
If someone is shooting back at you, you need a bullet that will stop the threat immediately. A .22 is not a good choice to be honest. And .22 hollow points do not expand in tissue out of a handgun because the velocity is not high enough to initiate expansion.

@EliteAmericans13 жыл бұрын
It would be interesting to see if the lower velocity from a handgun would improve the penetration depth of this round. I doubt it would expand at all from a barrel 4 inches or less. 6 and a half inch barrel it might be possible to create a middle ground of expansion and penetration but no fragmenting
@billynutz56712 жыл бұрын
the carbine model 10/22 will run CCI Stingers with out any issues.. the Target model will not. the Stinger case (because its longer than a normal 22 LR) will engage the rifling and might cause a jam and more than likely scratch the rifling. the target model is chambered tighter than the carbine model and this might cause issues when the round if feed into the chamber. stick with Velocitors if you have a target model. i would use them anyways even if i have the carbine model.
