They were called The TNT boys because they are all members of the grand finalists in a local amateur singing competition in a noontime show in the Philippines called "Tawag ng Tanghalan" (call of the stage). Now they embody the chemical meaning of TNT which is Trinitrotoluene, an explosive causing a major blast.

Carmen Banks I have just clarified the true meaning of tnt as where it was originated. The chemical meaning I said came from the host' mouth as he said he wonders what tnt stands for and he further said "now I know it's because you blew the roof off every time you sing". Furthermore, Yani (the reactor on this video) asked what tnt stands for and Fabio (the other reactor) said dynamite, that's where my comment on the chemical meaning was intended for. It's not my intention to exaggerate things up. For me, their talents are just truly natural and they are gifted. Just my two cents. Y

They nailed it again. Eventhough how.many times weve heard them singing that song, they just blow us away. Mackie's falsetto was superb and clean Francis.sassy.voice is a killer and Kiefer's whistle is to die for. James corden was in tears, and rupaul is starting to love this kids and atlast gave.them a score of 50!

Hi Yani and Fabio, fellow Torontonian here. As already mentioned in the comments TNT stands for Tawag Ng Tanghalan. It was originally an amateur singing contest in the Phils from way back 70's... fast forward, it is now a segment in the daily noontime show It's Showtime where these 3 talented boys were contestants. They ended up as runners-up. After the competition they were then invited as guests in the show Gandang Gabi Vice where they were able to showcase even more their individual talents. The video became viral and that's when they became as TNT Boys because they are products of the singing contest... And the rest is history. God bless the TNT Boys!
