It's 2017. Ambassador is not with us anymore. After watching this video, what I understood is Hindustan Motors couldn't upgrade themselves to an automated plant (Many works were done manually like costly super cars or luxury cars like Rolls Royce!). Also, they did not bother to upgrade the DESIGN. They had the best engineers, but probably not many designers. :(

Mr bhadra compare the built quality of ambassador with your tin can maruti alto , you will realise ambassador is the most sturdiest cars on Indian roads . Surely ambassador is not crash test worthy but its sturdy , tank like , tough built quality is much better than tin can marutis. Overall ambassador is a good car which has pros & cons & so does the modern cars have

Someone grab a stick, hit Mr. Moloy Chowdhury with that and wake him up. Ambassador would have never gone out of the market if they upgraded it properly. No ABS, no rear defogger, no ECM, no turbo, no fuel injection, no airbags.. Look at the power window switches they had on later models..

Ambassador did had turbocharged diesel engines with intercooler , multi point fuel injection ( mpfi ) petrol systems. If Amby didn't had turbocharged & fuel injection engines , it would have been discontinued in the year 2000 due to the first bharat stage emission norms 😂. From 2003 ambassadors had collapsible steering column , power brakes , power windows ( optional ) , power steering ( optional) , remote shift gear mechanism ( optional ) , optional ac & mp3 player since 1992 ,child safety door locks since 1970s , chrome finish outer door handles since 2009 , ambassador avigo & grand had Salisbury rear axle instead of regular rigid split rear , also gas filled rear suspension . Also nvh levels in diesel ambassadors were significantly reduced over the time since 2006. HM did made many changes in ambassador

HM didn't increased their product portfolio apart from ambassador , contessa & trekker . they should have introduced santro like hatchback , swift segment hatchback , bolero like SUV , over the time they should have evolved as an automobile company , seriously HM would have been today one of the most trusted & reliable automobile brands had they been evolved with time & competition but sadly they didnt.

Also they should have made ambassador at their modern chennai factory with modern manufacturing facilities . seriously ambassador & contessa would have been today top selling mid size & premium sedans in the country . anyways both the cars are legendary , time tested , authentic ,iconic & timeless .

When ambassador was discontinued in 2014 , it wasn't that behind with other cars in the market , it had good features , it was a value for money at that price point ( within 10 lakhs ) , yes this car had its pros & cons & so does the today,s modern cars also have but ambassador stood the test of time

The most important thing is value for money. Since 2000, how many cars were available without a power steering, collapsible steering column etc?
