Thank you for sharing. KZbin is taking the fun out of it though. I don't mind commercials, after all the author should benefit. But KZbin interjects commercials every 3-4 minutes. Let's see how long I will be able to hang in...😂 🙋♀️🌻

Give her naturally reddish brown curly hair and hazel green eyes, and this would have been me to a T! lol I love the Stars, I just felt like in some ways I really related to Olivia. And I love Nathaniel for loving her just the way she is 💗 I'm glad they finally got together, for a moment there I was really getting frustrated because I thought she wasn't going to be with him after all! And I'm not going to lie, a part of me wishes there would have been some juicy details in their first lovemaking 😂

I find it unfair that in a patriarcal society, the girls are disparaged for being '' chatty and shallow'' and' ' all alike' 'when they are conditionned to be so. When patriarchy forces those traits on them then, uses those as proof of their' 'natural' ' inferiority'. I know we are meant to favor the main character for her uniqueness, by contrast to their foolishness, but i'd prefer books with more than one '' good woman''. To portray one woman as the exception to the rule, joins patriarchy' s views on such women : supposedly, their unique stories don't change the overall truths of women. That said, this is enjoyable.

This is a great comment and a necessary viewpoint . Ignore the idiots above who have commented, I’ve always hated the exceptionalism of main female characters too - that all other women are stupid in comparison, it’s sexist and ignores patriarchal conditioning and the systems in our society that make it so as you have said
@RayF61262 жыл бұрын
Interestingly enough this time period says men and women spent most of their time apart so it was women teaching women these behaviors. How is that patriarchal? Also, you'll notice her mother tells her to keep her night time jaunts to herself until she's actually married which implies vapidness in the books is small talk today.
@RayF61262 жыл бұрын
Also, how many writers are introverted and writing introverted characters during a party? Characters who are absolutely in hatred of small talk. It's like modern day meeting at a bar, instead of meeting at work, a library, or community.

I like that they cut out the sex scenes. After reading quite a few romance novels the sex scenes becomes rather tiring (no matter how well written they are). I read romance books because a want a light read and a happy ending. p.s is that really how you pronounce ton/tone (meaning high society)? Since it originates from the French language shouldn't it be pronounced [tɔ̃] instead?

Get yourself a cute little dog to cuddle with in your bed...they're more loyal, do what you tell them, would die for you, they never talk back, don't care about makeup or if your hair is messy, and will love you unconditionally. You can tell them ALL of your secrets, they won't hog the remote control, and they're probably more potty trained than most husbands. 😂

Between the tiresome duration of Olivia's reluctance to marry, her reaction to being published and her constant resistance to everything in her life, she appears pathetic rather than heroic or empowered. It had so much potential, mixed accents/pronunciations aside, but it failed to inspire. Sorry.
