Such a proud and ultimate song. This piece is nothing if not played by a strong band. Especially brass. Love the power in it. I hope our 8th Grade band can take on this piece right. :)

Soyee Choi Dude, I'm honestly a little offended. My band has 19 people, 5 clarinets, 2 saxophones, 3 flutes, 2 trumpets, 2 trombones, 1 tuba, occasionally a baritone, and 3-4 percussionists. Personally, we may be miniscule, but we've got this song in the bag, and we've got people filling in parts everywhere, like for part of it we've got some clarinets filling in tenor sax and that oboe solo, trombones are playing bassoon parts, and we've got one percussionist playing snare, bongos, and windchimes in this song. We kill it every time too. And our brass line is 5-6 people.

This piece was commissioned for my middle school band in 1997 when I was a 7th grader at Challenger Middle School in Huntsville, Alabama. Our wonderful director, Tom Mitchell, has since passed away. I'd love to dedicate this to him.

I got this music in 8th grade, my director said she wanted to give us a "challange" But she hardly gave us a chance to even try! She said she wanted to challange us and we messed up twice and she took the music away forever. I've never gotten to play or hear what this whole song sounded like until today!!!! T^T
