The seeds of hope and building your own free city are what got me into AoS. I really hope they do something similar to Seeds or Hope with the Dawnbringer crusades because this is so cool.

I've been slowly trying to feel out how I want to build up my Free City, As a fan of the Druchii from WHF Metalith's remind me of Black Arks and how they were used to tame Naggaroth after the sundering. Knowing that these flying Islands exist in setting it is making me think about how I want to go about building my City. Take inspiration from WHF and have these Metalith's be roaming fortresses used to defend the city, or raid enemies. There are a lot of interesting ways these can be handled. For a while I've been thinking having my City be built in a massive ravine inside a mountain range. So the City is a nexus of bridges traveling across both the overworld, and the underground with the walls of the ravine being paved with city districts, fortifications etc. While the surface is fortified citadel that spans a massive chunk of the mountain range. However with the introduction to Metalith's the idea of a City soaring in the sky, with the inhabitants perhaps chaining as many Metalith's together that they can get their hands on forming a network of sky islands is also very very cool. I'd love to mesh the concepts together. But there is such a thing as too much as well. Overdoing too many concepts I feel will make each one individually feel hollow.

I am adoring the new lore that is coming out for 3.0. Cities of Sigmar is the rightful lifeblood of the setting, creating a place and sense of home in a fantastical realm without dimming or removing the fantastic nature of the world around it. Often embracing it! This is also a FANTASTIC setup for an RPG campaign. I have been pondering running a campaign of my own, with my own wild city idea at the heart of the campaign, and this could be a great thing to build up to. WHERE do they choose to go? What other motives tag along, agendas in the background or desires from the players and NPCs alike. Would be great to work both the politics behind the crusade AND the danger in front of it, creating a fantastic narrative that ends in a wonderful reward out on the frontier. As for AoS proper....this makes me actually want to dive deeper into building "City" terrain. I could have multiple levels to it, from the initial small settlement of a Dawnbringer Crusade to the epic walls and towers of an established city, all portraying the past, present, and future, all in one big flavor cycle. The new edition is definitely making me relook at a LOT of ideas and my never-ending Cities project may be getting an overhaul!

Does anyone else think these could be the basis for an AoS RTS game? Like especially the aqualith, maybe you have chaos corruption, you can plant one of those and it will get rid of it, the campaign could be the defence of a new city, escort missions, build missions and defence mission, all in the classic Warcraft style RTS

Im gathering signups for my Crusade. Like if you want to join - we probably won't survive the Trip But there are some good seaside views in Ghur if you want to claim your Spot. No skills required, just sign the Form that all of your belongings can be rightfully ransacked by other members of the Crusade in case of your untimely death

A Dawnbringer Crusade that never actually settles down and just accrues a collection of buildings on floating islands, that moves from Nexus to Nexus. That would be so wild!

My Cities army, when I can get around to it, is gonna be based on my own nation in Ghur (which is basically just north america in Ghur) but the army would have a heavy Hunter theme I'm thinking alot of artillery and mounted beasts with everyone cloaked in fancy fur capes of their trophies since hunting is so ingrained into the culture of their nation, that they would now be trying to expand. Eventually just for fun I wanna make a map of the continent as well.

I know there'll be plenty of reeeing, but DBCs are an almost perfect setting for an AoS Total War. Combat can still be put in formations, mix of melee and ranged, with TWW3 we've seen the introduction of big things and army abilities. Plus it would make sense campaign wise why does your capital and starting lord start at level one? Because they just arrived and have to build up in a new land.

I want to run an Idoneth deepkin, Daughters of Khaine and Shadow Aleaves Dawn Bringer Crusaders. I mean we can establish our own cities, or we can spread the love of the Holy trinity of M. Mathlann, Morathi-Khaine, and Maliketh.

i would love to see halfling farmer in cruise(ade). they are the archetype of townfolk and they have a very good fertility and birth rate, the perfect race to grow a newcity. i really hope they keep and push the cosmopolitan aspect of free city, sadly dawnbringer crusade book looks focused on human. i need mixed unit, aelf with powder gun etc. ps: They have to bring more woman in the army, seriously , empire looks like a boys club...where are female dwarf, sister of sigmar. more woman fighting is a good thing if you want to depict people surviving.

I think this movement to a dawnbringer crusade structure also has a lot to do with Morathi's conquering of Har Kuron and Teclis' indirect dominance of Settler's gain. Sigmar is losing ground, even to his own "allies"

Been looking to anchor my headcannon for my armies to something in the lore, this is finally it. For 40k i have a chaos renegade space marine chapter in the outer rim the maintains a small empire, i play multiple armies for this empire (chaos marines, admech (heretic mechanicus) imperial guard (renegades)) etc now i can build a a bunch of different based on a ongoing dawnbringer crusader deep into a realm.

Much like the scale of 40k, this particular aspect of population, the size of Dawner processions, could really use an extra zero at the end of the number. Ancient armies on the move, and processions like Alexanders's army, were tens of thousands of people. I think the entire realm of Azur can spare them.

Ah yes, the Soul Wars where Negash got 2 steps into his 5 step plan before screwing it up. Where ghost, skeletons and zombies roamed the realms for centuries and accomplish nothing for Grand Alliance Death. It culminated in a showdown that ended in the destruction of Negash and all but two of his Mortarchs. Arkhan got beat so bad that he didn’t even make it into the new Legions of Negash 2.0 battletome. Soul Wars was a monumentally, embarrassing, failure for Death and Broken Realms Teclis should have just been called Death Sucks: An Aelf Story. I feel it’s my responsibility to point out how badly GW bungled the Soul Wars story and how they ruined Negash as a character. Any chance of us ever taking him seriously again was beaten to dust by guys in cow hats.

Nef is fine, Manny is fine, Olynder is fine, Katakros is fine. Not sure the state of Arkhan but he's a lich so he can come back, Nagash is still around just rebuilding his body. They still hold part of the Eight Points, Teclis is now infected with death magic, Belakor is under some death curse from Olynder. But yeah, ultimately the invasion of the Eight Points is the only place they made any progress really.

@@Waywardpaladin Yes, the vampires are ok because GW likes money so they continue to sell Death armies. And the vampires are the new, big, army. But narratively, GW hates Death. Katakros was impressive until Archaon rolled up and decided to win. Then Katakros got blown away like dust on a coffin. It was barely a fight. Lady O was killed and then later blackmailed into servitude by Belakor. Her “curse” on him was laughably pathetic and did nothing while he literally had her helpless at sword point. Make no mistake, those are losses. Just because GW always has Death characters come back doesn’t mean that they weren’t defeated, destroyed and beaten. A loss is still a loss. Lady Olynder lost and so did Katakros. At the same time those two were losing in the 8 Points, Negash and the rest of his Mortarchs were killed and or defeated in the other realms. And Negash has now been killed twice in one on one fights, becoming the only Grand Alliance leader to do so. And now he’s done it twice, proving that he can never win a fight or do anything right. On a whim Teclis decided to teach Negash a lesson and then he went and did it. They had a god fight, brought all their god weapons and Negash lost. Again. Beaten to dust by Aelves in cow-hats. And this was when Negash was supposedly at the height of his powers. He was all amped up on Necro-Juice. But he still lost. Because GW hates Death narratively. They ruined Negash and forever tarnished Death as a faction by proving how incompetent they are from the big, guy on down. If Negash; Supreme Lord of the Undead can’t ever do anything right, or win a fight, what chance does the rest of the faction have? Not a ghost of a chance.
