www.japansociety.org/language_...
Please view Lesson 5 for more verbs and vocabulary.
In this lesson you will learn a very useful Japanese verb "shimasu" - "to do". Proper sentence structure will also be covered, adding places, people and time to the sentence.
Vocabulary:
shimasu - to do (something)
benkyou o shimasu - to study
shigoto o shimasu - to work
kaigi o shimasu - to have a meeting
kaimono o shimasu - to shop
jogingu o shimasu - to jog
pati o shimasu - to party
tenisu o shimasu - to play tennis
kyou - today
ashita - tomorrow
kino - yesterday
asatte - day after tomorrow
ototoi - day before yesterday
uchi - house
kouen - park
depato - department store
kaisha - company (office building)
gakko - school
tomodachi - friend
sensei - teacher
hisho - secretary
Sentence structure:
Time (day of the week) + Place + de (particle for action at a place) + Person + to (particle for "with whom") + verb
Example:
Ashita kouen de Mary-san to tenisu o shimasu
Tomorrow I play tennis with Mary at the park

The particle "ni" is used to indicate the place where a thing(s) or a person(s) is(or are) present and to mark one's goal or destination. "De" is used to indicate the place where an action occurs. In short, "ni" casts the sight upon a place, while "de" upon an action. In your example of replacing "de" with "ni", it wouldn't really make sense. But you were close!

These are actually great as a previous-self teaching student. I learnt the language's structure and composition inside and out (at least to a beginner's standard, up to topics like -teiru, -teiku, 'must/must not', conditionals, 'te mo ii', that sort of stuff) but I could never (and still can't) reliably converse in the language since I spent too much time on grammar. These videos are great since they teach beginners actual vocabulary to use, plus the MUCH EASIER -masu form of verbs as opposed to the regular dictionary form of verbs. One thing I would love to see as a non-beginner watching your videos is Kanji for the words/sentences too. I feel like it's easier to understand the meaning of words as you progress into the intermediate territory and start to know what certain Kanji mean, as well as easier to break apart a sentence into its separate parts. But I get that this comment will make no difference now since these videos were made 5 years ago lol

Basics or not, I’ve listened to countless videos on teachers attempting to teach Japanese. All of them fall short of this woman here. I instantly picked it up. I’m glad I found this channel and subscribed after the first few videos. I’ve had a hard time forming sentences and with just 35 minutes of her videos it’s becoming a lot more clear. ありがとせんせい!

Dibyaratna Shakya Oh, i'm still studying Japanese. I'm not yet a pro at speaking. But I can write hiragana & katakana (the basic) and some phrases. Now, I'm learning to write and read Kanji (chinese characters). You can ask me though, it would be helpful too😊
