To Kadee or not kadee? O scale coupler choice.

Definitely looks much better. Viewed a similar video several years ago touting to benefits of converting to Kadee's. In the video it showed that they actually function much better than the larger stock couplers - no need to slam in order to lock the coupler closed. They also showed that you can couple an oversized stock knuckle coupler to a Kadee. Have you tried that? What is the minimum radius curve for cars with Kadee's?

Hi Alco, yeah I've probably seen that video as well. The kadee definitely couple better and not having to slam the cars together to couple like the stock couplers is certainly a major benefit. I've run them on 054, but that's cutting it close. I'd say 072 as a minimum in my opinion. I've also coupled the Kadee with the stock couplers and they seemed to hold OK.

Not for 0 Scale for me due to my track radius. When I had HO, I changed my couplers to Kadee Couplers.

Marc what size kdee couplers do you normally use I need to change a few couplers on my o gauge rolling stock I run 054 radius curves

The part numbers I use are 740, 743, 745 and 746. Just depends on what I'm converting over to Kadee and whether I need a long or short shank.
