How can we help the family? They are all so brave and deserving!

This film is profound and perhaps surprisingly, very inspiring. Thank you so much for making it! ❤We are so grateful for the care you show in documenting the love and true respect of a father, and the bravery and purposeful nature of Kiran. Her voice has the deep insights of a mature child, and one that is strengthened by the loved and support of a family that shares her value of shining light on what needs to change. I think also of Anand Patwardhan's films that want to bring a moving kind of focus on the cultural conditioning that helps to give rise to these conditions.

I hope this gets nominated and wins. Either this or What We Watched. This could be the 5th documentary nominee from India and 3rd win followed by Born Into Brothels and The Elephant Whisperers. And the win could be the one Writing With Fire or All That Breathes deserved. A Hindi language documentary movie could finally win

But it will be a win for a movie in Hindi

@@emiliobello2538 She is Canadian, Indo-Canadian, so I think it would be safe to say that it would be a win for both countries. As Kiran is an Indian citizen, the whole documentary filmed at a Indian village, Indian court system, village folk, court systems, social workers and most importantly Kiran and her family, I would say both would be identified nominated people and winners of the multiple awards. My belief is that Nisha's ancestral connection to her motherland is what likely inspired her to care deeply for this family and for women/girls assaulted in India. Especially given that incidents of sexual assault, unreported incidents of sexual assault and low rates of conviction and/or jail time also exist in Canada. It's a travesty all over the world unfortunately; not just India.

What's interesting is that alot of the women were just as misogynistic as the men (especially the older ones). It was scary.

I loved this film and I applaud the director for creating such an important work but in this particular interview, I feel like her answers seem a bit… detached? Or like she didn’t listen to the questions really being asked.

So what happened to the family? Are they getting some financial benefit from all this?
@Subuhi618 ай бұрын
In India a lot of rural and small town families face this or similar sorts of abuse, criminality , cruel , heartless behaviour in their lives to a greater or lesser degree. Its bad. But I like to think that things are improving although incrementally. How much and where all can the government compensate? It needs to be more of societal , attitudinal and behavioural change.

The end of the movie says the creators of the movie keep supporting them, so I guess that means financially, too.
