This might be elsewhere on here, but here's my take of Gram and Co. doing the unthinkable-arguably topping the Brothers Gibb..INCREDIBLE.An outtake too boot, from the album "Honky Tonk Heaven" As ever, I do not own anything. Please remember if you haven't already. to visit www.gramparsonspetition.com and sign to bring home Gram where he belongs, in the Country Music Hall Of Fame.I'm going off to cry somewhere. For Koala and Becca

@@MikeS-ct6lgGram's parents never split. His father killed himself when they lived in Waycross. After moving to Winterhaven FL, Gram's mother married Bob Parsons, who adopted Gram and little Avis. Gram went to school in Winterhaven until he flunked Grade 11 and returned to Bolles (where he'd been for one year as a kid) for Grade 11 and 12. His mother died on his grad day. Why do you have to call out someone who sincerely shares their time with Gram?

First heard of Gram from Emmylou Harris. She was doing a show on PBS and talked about how he got her started. For those who run down emilylou for not mentioning him enough is a bunch of hog wash. She talks about him Everytime she can. He's been gone over 40 yrs and a year ago I heard her say his name. The sweet beautiful lady was in love with him. Isn't that enough for all you people who run her down. If it wasn't for her Gram Parsons would have been forgotten. I'm sure she has helped his family make plenty of money off loyalty and other memorbila.

You're correct, she was deeply in love with Gram. She wrote "Boulder to Birmingham" about him. And while she has promoted his music, Gram's body of work stands on its own merit. Gram's mom's family was extremely wealthy. He grandfather was a citrus magnate from Florida. He lost both parents- Dad to suicide, mom to alcoholism- before he graduated high school and received around $75K ($425K in today's dollars) annually from the family trust. Financially, he had the freedom to do whatever he wanted. All the money in the world can't squelch internal demons, but he sure left us with some great music in his attempt to do so. Just wish we had more of it. He was the real deal, and so is Emmylou.

The brilliance of this song is that it can be adapted effectively to so many different styles. This version is beautiful and heartfelt in a country idiom. Roberta Flack also sings an astonishingly beautiful version in a cool jazz style. If you listen to the drums after the first chorus, they’re an absolute mess. I’m not typically judgmental about sloppy play, especially if it’s heartfelt like this is, and the rest of the band is fine. But the drummer can’t do that fill and it hurts my ear lol.

This is one of my favorite recordings of all times from one of my favorite groups of all time. What amazes me is that this song is off of the Bee Gees debut album, which in my opinion was the only good album they ever put out. The brothers Gibb went on to be mega stars, while very few people know who the hell the Flying Burrito Brothers are. You're absolutely right! Gram had a country music sensibility but he never let it limit him. Rather, he took songs like this and You Don't Miss Your Water and saw the country music potential. He kind of did the opposite of what Ray Charles did with country music songs. Both of them demonstrated that there was very little difference between country, blues, and soul. Which is really a beautiful thing.

Gram was truly a legend! So authentic and beautiful..the real deal! Gosh, can you imagine what he would have given us all these years had we been fortunate enough to still have him here with us?! One of my very favorites! I love you C. Hope you find " the one". God knows I've loved you in a way that I can't explain. I'm pretty sure I'll never feel this way again..it just doesn't happen. Abnormal ... but in the most true and sincere way. Unexplainable. God knows. Someone , someday will love me back. I really believed you did/do. Continue hiding behind that wall that I tried to demolish, and you'll always be alone. If you had been on the moon, I would have found a way to get there. I've always said that. I've always meant it. I'm a survivor though.....true hell on earth since I was a little girl. I've always given every little ounce of love in me, my whole life. Someone, will return it to me someday. It's a shame I was never enough for you! 🎶" You don't know what's it's like... " 🎶💔😪

Ken Burns just delivered the truth...Gram Parsons created a landslide of style in "Country Music" to broaden the futures of so many contemporary country artists of today!! An Ivy League musician turned to country heart and soul...sounds familiar...

I love that song too man! Classic's Gram is criminally underrated, the Harry Nilsson of country music! That's my term by the way so give me credit when it catches on ;)

i started crying before the first bar had finished. what can be said about this gang of mindfuckers. they had power over us mere mortals and they taught us so much about love and music but they never once made us hurt more then we wanted it to. genius bastards. wish they were still here.

Gram was one of the real greats and tragedies of the 70's, immortal in my mind but can you imagine what he and Emmy Lou would have done together with that Hot Band. The Byrds and Burritos were also great plus that very special last album her did with Emmy Lou. Back when country people were good hearted fun loving people who loved the same music as the more longhaired and free spirited. The religious right and NRA ruined everything. Oh for the second coming of Gram Parsons to bring us all back together.
