Rothsay... one of Norway's few capitols during the excistence of Norway. It was the in-facto capitol of Norway in the year 1267 or thereabout (the other capitols are Bergen, Trondheim, Tønsberg and Oslo..... ). I live in Paisley and likes to visit Rothesay at least once a year. I also worked at IBM whose the now closed train station IBM Halt is on the route. I have also cycled around Bute and taken that open top bus. The whole island, Bute, is great. Look out for ospreys, eagles, fat pigs and spitting alpacas when going to the west side of Bute. Rothesay has an abundance of fat cats. Great video and it has reminded me that I should do this tour sometimes later this month. Btw you forgot to visit the Victorian-era public lavatory, voted the finest public lavatory in Great Britain many times over. The toilets are next to the ferry. Well worth a visit.

Thanks so much for watching and for sharing all this info. I did go into the Victorian Toilets and even filmed them - but in the end I didn’t include the footage in the video. I’ll maybe make a Short out of it! ☺️

Thanks so much h for watching and for sharing your story. I first saw Magnum in concert back in 1985 and went on to see them 9 more times. I was very upset to hear about Tony. He left us with so much amazing music. 🥲🎸

Great day out, Roger, and looks like had no train cancellations. Great weather as well! Did plenty of trips, "Doon the Watter" in the '60's. A long time since I was in Rothesay, brought back memories. Pity didn't stay overnight. Yes, the architecture of Wemyss Bay station is spectacular. You'd think that a paper ticket would cover the entire journey, including the ferry! Overall price was good, considering all the travel involved! Thanks for sharing. 😊 👍

Thanks Alan. I hope to be going "Doon the Watter" again soon!

Thanks for another great trip Rog. It bought back memories of my journey between Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Queen St. I travelled in 2019 and I'm sure that Road Cone was on that statue in George Square way back then. I met a friend under the Clock at Glasgow Central ! I have put the Isle of Bute on my wish list, as it has so much to see for a traveller from New Zealand.

Another super video highly entertaining Rog, well done. Not least for catching the one day of summer in Scotland 😆 On the subject of paper tickets, I used the TrainLine app in the past and more recently TrainPal who I've found undercut Trainline's prices but both issue a 6-digit reference to exchange for paper tickets, which end up being a good keepsake as a souvenir of my trips. 😊 I've never been to that neck of the woods there either despite being reasonably well-placed in Northern Ireland but some fine day (hopefully as fine as you got!) I really must do. Years back I did a run around Orkney Shetland via Loganair but never done the overland stuff with Cal-Mac before, it looks great. 🙂

Thanks Phil. Definitely one of my favourite trips this year. Good to get back on the water.

@@RogEdwardsTV looking forward to the Isle of Man next month myself. Haven't been over there since I was a kid, I feel that unlike most places since those long ago days 😄 the Isle of Man hasn't really changed at all but I'm looking forward to finding out. The craft that takes you there nowadays certainly has though 👍🙂
@RogEdwardsTVАй бұрын
Oh have a great time. Only been to the IOM once and it was a corporate conference so didn't see much of the island!
@philpedlowАй бұрын
@@RogEdwardsTV it's a popular spot for Northern Irish folk traditionally so have had several family holidays there as a kid very many moons ago now. It used to be the best part of 5 hours journey on the boat but nowadays the IOMSP use fast craft and catamarans taking more like 2 hours so I'm really looking forward to those the most I think 👍 Cheers Rog. 🙂
