Rohan Dhakal The Oscar awards are decided by the Academy, which is a bunch of actors, producers, directors and others in the industry voting to decide who wins Oscars. The backers of a particular movie, actor whatever then "sell" it to the members of the Academy to try to influence their vote. They do this by offering monetary things, applying pressure, using their influence, promises etc. So you need an example? How about every single award show and every single Oscar that is awarded.

WOW! That definitely explains why Tom Hanks (who was nominated for his performance in “Saving Private Ryan”) lost the “Best Actor” Oscar to Roberto Benigni in “Life is Beautiful”, since the latter film was distributed by MIRAMAX and Weinstein did a lot of Oscar campaigning for “Life is Beautiful”.

Weinstein isn't the only one in Hollywood with power and influence. I hope we'll see some investigative reporting on the power structures and culture among those people so we can see how he got to where he could do those things and go on unpunished for so long. I'm fairly certain that similar things exist elsewhere (even if it doesn't lead to abuse) although Hollywood may be more.. susceptible to such. More knowledge on how such things start and what they may look like and how best to break them down.

The Oscars and most of the "awards" seem to be rigged. Movies that have earned an award receive a simply pat on the back, if even that. I watched the Oscars one year, and the same damn movie won ALL NIGHT LONG! I thought, well hell this was a wasted night. Best this best that best best best...I best get my ass up and turn this shit! I think the Oscars should get rid of the "Academy" and let it all be judged by the people. After all, we are the ones that keep them rich! These "awards" are a lot like the way we vote in our president. The people never count!

For all Jennifer Lawrence haters: she was nominated and awarded for her several indie movies such as : Winter´s bone, Burning plain and Poker house. She was in two big franchises: the hunger games and X-men... all before meet Harvey Weinstein. She auditioned via skipe for SLP. Stop this BS because she is talented... if you don´t think this, you are an unfair hater. Maybe you don´t like her as a person , but she is very talented and she has done several things for children , hospitals , education and more, even when she was not famous or rich.
