Kudos to all 9 contestants. Each one of them received at least one vote. It was great seeing an entertainment pioneer Jackie Cooper on the panel. I remember watching the Our Gang programs in which Jackie was a child star. Mary Healy is a babe. Thanks for the video.

Thank you! I was today years old to learn "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition." was a real quote uttered in true faith and patriotism. I don't remember when or how, but I had been given the impression it was meant as a mockery against the religious, Conservatives, and gun owners. To know its true origin is a relief.

I think "To Tell the Truth" has the best music and visual style and direction of G-T's 1950s and 1960s productions. The directors outdid themselves tonight. Dark screen opening. Cue the Bagpipe music. Backlight three silhouettes of men in full Royal Canadian regalia. Illuminate the faces and hear gear one after another. It's electrifying, especially for a game show that does not need to be electrifying.

Mary Healy is so pretty and seems even younger than 39 years old here. She reminds me a lot of Elizabeth Shue.

What other channels is there on KZbin that has complete series set up like this from the 50's to early 60s? With commercials is a bonus 😁

Weirdly enough, Cornel Wilde only appeared on "I've Got a Secret", as far as the B&W Goodson-Todman games go. He was a mystery guest on the new "What's My Line?" in 1968, though.

Tobruk these days is in Libya, one of the main eastern cities, and Libya being ruled by the Italians at the outset of WWII and Egypt was a British holding, the area became pretty much the main focus of the North African campaign of WWII. I consider geography a main strength of my own, and with this comes some of the history involved with such places as a Tobruk,Libya and the history of the countries themselves. So the answer of the battle of Tobruk being near Egypt would have swayed me to that contestant since it is indeed near the Egyptian border and was a target for the allies to capture and for the Axis and mainly Italians to defend. Of course he could just be good at what was that time fairly recent history.

Someone asked what Geritol was...it's a liquid vitamin tonic for the geriatric set, it was quite popular at one time.

It would have been interesting to hear the TTTT production meetings. I can hear it now: "Women's fencing! That's it! It's sexy -- what with women using weapons, and the girls will look sensational in silhouette." [Which they did.]

soulierinvestments Given the intro, I was a little disappointed that they didn't keep the masks on and have a celebrity as one of the impostors.

I always mistake Jackie Cooper for Jackie Coogan.
@soulierinvestments
@soulierinvestments 9 жыл бұрын
Johan Bengtsson It's relatively easy to remember. Coogan was the one who was Charles Chaplin's "Kid" in 1920 and "Uncle Fester" in 1964 Cooper is the one who made movies in the 30s with Mickey Rooney and Freddie Bartholomew and who had the dog partner on TV in the late 1950s. Cooper is the one who aged better.

This is a tough game show. I sometimes wonder what I would have asked contestants on "What's My Line?" and I draw a blank usually. This compounds the trouble by thrice. I would have been in the fetal position, given I do not know from bagpipes or fencing.

I've wondered if they got a crash course on relevant topics before each show. It seems a little unlikely otherwise that the panelists would know as much as they do.

Panel needs to get their hearing checked. In Game 2, the 2nd contestant was asked one question, the title of his playright.

There is nothing that makes me cringe more than the sound of a set of bagpipes playing. The most horrible sounding instrument they ever come up with.
