I like the ending, "Good night and God bless you."

This record was broken in 1966 by broadcaster Bill Atkins of KDOK-AM in Tyler, Texas, who stayed away 12 days. He did it in a 24-hour restaurant where he was under constant observation. On day 12 he began to hallucinate and attempted to "interview" what he believed to be a tiny man who he saw crawling out of his hamburger. Friends who knew Bill said he was never the same after he did the stunt. He was a co-worker of mine in the late 1970s, and I never noticed anything unusual about him.

Regarding the fellow who stayed awake for 11 days as part of a school science project: I would have liked to ask the contestants whether they started to hallucinate after such a long sleepless period. I've suffered from insomnia since I was a college student, and my (unintentional) "record" for going without sleep was three nights. During this time, I also had to work--and on the last night, I began to see flashes of light that were like camera flashbulbs going off. I wish the panel had asked more about any adverse side-effects from this experiment.

I agree. I could not understand why they wouldn't. I am sure lack of sleep experiments had been readily available and I thought hallucinations were quite common.
@michaelpowell68053 жыл бұрын
He was recorded as suffering from paranoia and hallucinations...these experiments are not generally pursued anymore... at least amongst human subjects...this remains the medically peer reviewed record...he suffered from severe and persistent insomnia as an apparent consequence...

Sleep deprivation does cause hallucinations just ask any chronic insomniac. And no they are not scary because you know they are not real, its just your tired mind.

The Wyatt Earp round was the best ever, but very disappointing that none of them were dressed as their namesake. It would have looked terrific.

In the first round, #1 looked a lot like Randy Gardner the figure skater. But in 1964, that Randy Gardner would've been only 5 years old!

Because at the end of the game it’s only about the stars, not the gamers. They ignore the visitors and it’s just about them. He took off like a shot out of there before the host was even done.

Wyatt Earp, along with his brother Virgil and Doc Holliday, faced down the Clanton gang in a gunfight at the OK corral in Tombstone, AZ. There have been several movies made about the incident.
