How great is America where someone from ANOTHER country wants to come here and fight to keep our freedom. I thank him for his service.

I actually admire Renato O'Neill for his love for the Marines. It's very interesting how he came about becoming a Marine.

How did the show recruit the people who were the imposters? That one woman in Game #1 was from British Columbia. Were ads placed in newspapers?

Anyone find out whatever happened to Renato , the first contestant? I like to look up certain people like him who, as it was stated , "an act of Congress got him the results needed to become a USMC". I just wonder if and when he fought in Vietnam? I guessed his birth to be about 1939 from the info given. If anyone finds out please let me know. Marines mean alot to me, I'm named after my uncle (USMC) who died at age 18 in Vietnam. My 22yr old son is a Sergeant in the USMC. Thanks again to anyone who can find info, I thought maybe he changed name back to his Italian name or so something because I found nothing.

At 12:03 Tom Poston asks Ms. Joy if she knew a famous actress in California that was a friend of his with the last name of Dumont . He was referring to his co star in the 1962 movie ZOTS , Margaret Dumont , the previous year , Ms. Joy said she never heard of her . Oddly , Kitty Carlisle was also a co star with Dumont in the movie A DAY AT THE RACES in 1935 .
@MrBohuslav3 жыл бұрын
The film would rather be "A Night at the Opera", but the year (1935) is correct
@JJJBRICE3 жыл бұрын
@@MrBohuslav Thanks for the correction . A NIGHT AT THE OPERA 1935 would be the common co star between Poston / Carlisle to Dumont .

Margaret Dumont was a character actress -- not a star, and she came after Leatrice Joy's era in Hollywood which was the silent era of the 1920's. That's why Miss Joy could not identify her.

It's so sad to see the lengths to which Kitty Carlisle felt she had to go to to hide her being Jewish. If she truly didn't know what a "noodnick" was, I'm a (Gentile) monkey's uncle.
@ericalbany2 жыл бұрын
She didn't exactly hide it, though she didn't play it up. In her autobiography she recalled being at a French resort and chatting away in French with another young girl- only to find they were "A couple of Jewish girls from America". Her widowed mother changed the family name from Conn to improve chances at career and marriage.

I never thought of the connection of Margaret Dumont and Kitty Carlisle. At first I thought it was odd Kitty Carlisle and Tom Poston would not recognize Leatrice Joy from going to movies when they were kids, but it seems her starring days were over just as they would have started going to movies. Even though this is a good 30 years after her starring days, no mistaking her.

@@johnfd0210 I posted another comment that it's not at all surprising that Leatrice Joy was not aware of Margaret Dumont. They worked in different eras, and Miss Dumont was a character actress -- not a star.

@@johnfd0210 I am certain Kitty Carlisle went to silent films when she was a kid. She was born in 1910. Kitty most likely had forgotten her face.
