We all are proud of your grandfather. He was a great man. My late father was an MP in Alaska looking at Russia in WW2. All military should be honored.

This show always did something unexpected and fun from time to time as seen in game 1. I had to go back to look at that 1957 show. The lady policewoman was a babe. Thanks for the video.

When Tom Poston asks about a ship's "knees" in the first contest, he mentions that Polly Bergen normally asks that question and he asks it in honor of her being away. This is evidence that they assumed she would be coming back from vacation. But she never did in this incarnation of TTTT.

I'm not sure how that indicates "they" assumed she would be coming back. We don't know for sure WHAT Bud or the other 3 panelists knew or didn't know about Polly's return. Tom mentions as an aside that Polly is "in California," but does not say anything about a vacation, a personal appearance, or whatever.

And then Tom follows up to the contestant's response with "You mean there are active-duty WAVES?" WAVES were the women of the women's naval reserve of those days. Men were called sailors and women were called Waves--but the women didn't serve on ships.

In a previous episode, Polly said that she was going to California "for three weeks." And Bud said Betty White would be sitting in for her. So,yes, the production thought she was going to return. They kind of blew it with the first set of challengers. I would have asked if they ever actually intercepted a suspicious aircraft. Maybe they were told not to ask that kind of question. They also could have asked what type of plane they used and how it refueled.

This panel could not have remembered that the three men in the first game had been on the 1/29/57 show because none of them were panelists on that show. I was unable to determine if the trio came back some year later for a third go around with Oldfield as the primary guy. Peggy Cass said that the person she chose looked the most "naval". Someone else on the panel probably pointed out to her that what she said could have been interpreted as that he looked the most "navel".
