Game #2 is fascinating. A story of common respect beside the enemy sides. A beautiful (and sometime tragic) story of respecting the art of War until the end.

Why were some of the panelists allowed more time for questioning than others? In Game #3, Tom Poston got about 45 seconds and Don Ameche got less than 30 seconds.

Good question. Don Ameche has a very rapid fire questioning style and he got in 7 questions during his time, and Tom Poston only got in 2 questions during his time.

In 1961 the average yearly salary (for a man) was $4,200. So... $250 wasn't that bad. If you stumped the panel and got $330... that's about 4 weeks pay each.

I had never heard of Wayland College. It occurred to me after that segment concluded that the actual name of the school was Wayland Baptist College (now Wayland Baptist University). Among other things, they are famous for a decades long excellent women's basketball program.

Girl's baasketball of that era was quite different . There were 6 on the team...3 on one half of the Court and 3 on the other half and you stayed on your half and passed the ball to your teammate on the other side. It could be a bit confusing. Within a couple of years the girls game changed to what we see today!!🎈🎈

After shooting Widen's plane, Widen parachuted out. Instead of gunning him down, the pilot protected him. He then landed his plane and wen to Widen to shake his hand and gave him a cigarette. The German pilot, Anton Hafner, expressed admiration for Widen's wings that Widen gave them to him, and his Colt pistol, the serial number of his P-38 lightning and his identification tag as well. Widen died in 1984.

There are photos of the event if you search for their names. Widen's eyes either were injured somehow.

+To Tell the Truth (CBS) Thank you for expunging what I'm sure were the sickening commercials likening Salem Cigarettes to a "spring day"!
@totellthetruthcbs4220

I didn't "expunge" anything. If I had a copy with the commercials intact, I would have posted it. I don't believe in censoring the past this way. I certainly don't believe that the inclusion of a cigarette ad from 1961 would have ANY influence over whether a kid nowadays would take up smoking. So what's the point of pretending cigarette commercials never existed?
@519djw6

+To Tell the Truth (CBS) Well, then I thank whomever *did* expunge the commercials. And I wasn't thinking about about "kids nowadays," but about those who have lost relatives or friends to cigarette-related cancer. I think that seeing this crap would certainly take away from whatever entertainment value TTTT has to offer.

I'm sorry if you lost people to smoking, but so has EVERYONE ELSE in the world. You're not unique. People die due to alcohol use all the time-- I suppose we need to censor beer commercials, too. And people die of obesity all the time. I guess we need to outlaw advertising for junk food and McDonald's. Sorry I didn't black out the "Salem" logo from the desk. Honestly, now.

Good, since for her own privacy, I'm guessing that's the way she wants it. Most people really don't want other people poking around their life history.
