Hope you feel better soon! Great reaction. I've sailed on Lady Washington twice plus numerous dock tours. Highly recommend. Ryan, the gunner's mate on our adventure sail out of Astoria, was part of the crew who sailed her to the Caribbean for the Pirates movie, and was captain on our battle sail out of Ilwaco. He had awesome stories to tell. I based a ship in three of my books on the Lady and gave some of Ryan's wisdom to my captain hero. Hoping some day I can do a portage as a passenger. Not sure my knees could handle volunteering as crew, but wouldn't that be an awesome experience?

What’s interesting is when Bobby talks I’d assume he was a baritone. And yeah, Mortius, I want to know who’s doing those high harmonies. I mean, all the voices in this are amazing, but the timbre on those higher harmonies is just beautiful. If you decide to go down another rabbit hole, Eric has a lot of songs on his channel. Old Man River from Showboat, etc. Well worth the diversion. Bobby has an updated version of The Headless Horseman that really shows off his voice as well. Great reaction, M! Feel better, guys!

Bobby definitely has a bass speaking voice... he just has a very broad speaking range to his voice. Avi Kaplan is the same way... that is, you can hear the low frequencies in his voice, but he also has a lot of upper frequencies with articulation.

@@johndeeregreen4592 it’s funny because I feel like I personally am very different. Now I am 19 so I am sure I will eventually be considered more of a bass with age, but I consider myself a baritone currently. I lose resonance below a D2, I can sing lower with a chest fry or a weaker chest but I am working on strengthening my subs down there because I like the sound more usually. I can get a pretty tangeable A0 even but I don’t think I’m near the quality of most bass singers. My speaking voice has a very deep quality to it though, and unless I am trying to project, I am very soft spoken, so I sort of keep my morning voice speaking around an E2-F2 through the day. I am looking forward to the day I am a bit older and can hit chest B1.

@@upsidedownpyramid7617, it really depends on the person. My voice changed when I was only 11-years-old and I was a DEEP bass by the time I was 13. Some other men I have seen and heard about, their voices really continue to deepen into their 20's and early 30's. I am pretty sure mine is 100% genetics; my daughter is a contralto, and can sing down to F2 with ease and D2 with some fry. My casual speaking voice drops to G1 and as low as A0 with that touch of fry we all speak with these days.

@@johndeeregreen4592 damn you speak at a G1, a lot of folks freak out over Corpse’s speaking voice which is around there, despite the rasp his pure speaking voice is way down into the first octave. When I speak with fry I am normally around a Bb1. But if you’re comfortably speaking and singing down in a G1, you may be an oktavist, which is an exceedingly rare operatic singing voice.

Re Lady Washington! Maybe 20 years ago, she and partner ship Hawaiian Chieftain were taking passengers on short trips around San Pedro (So Calif) and I (& friends) did the sail, had fun watching crew climb around the rigging, and took pics of the cannon-fire of the mock battle. 'Still some of the most beautiful photography I've ever done, just because of the subjects, the setting sun on the ocean, etc. Oh, and Queen Mary was in some of the shots, so a bit of extra interest.

TLDR disclaimer: Apparently I had a lot more to say than I realized, no my ADHD is in overdrive due to running on just 2hrs of sleep, but felt it would be weird to split this into 2-3 separate comments >_> I think my points were valid/fun/interesting/meaningful, but I’m also biased towards myself so read on at your own risk of losing a fair bit of time ^_^ #1: Sick Mortius, Tired Mortius, Sleep-Deprived Mortius, Overly-Hyper Mortius, ADHD Mortius, Broken Mortius, Baffled Mortius (Golden Retriever reference from The Bass Gang: Centuries Reaction anyone?) Stressed-Out-House-Hunting Mortius, Alone-In-A-Hotel-Room Mortius: Is there even such a thing as “Normal Mortius”? If so he must only exist off camera because I don’t think we’ve ever seen him here on the channel 🤔 but we don’t mind, it makes your reactions each unique, and you besides, you need to keep at least one side of yourself private, right? 🤔 In all seriousness though, I think I speak for everyone here when I say that we love every side of you, no matter how you feel and there’s no need for you to ever apologize to us for being sick or feel bad about yourself or your energy, or self-proclaimed lack thereof, to which I call cow-pie considering that even being sick your ship tangent is proof you were still very much yourself). #2: I loved the bit from 8:20-8:27. The transition of your facial expression and body language going from “Oh, Yes! I love Eric Hollaway, I’m so excited” to “Good God that is so deep it’s unreal” was amazing. :) #3: For the first half of this video I was mildly disappointed because the moment Mortius mentioned being sick I was expecting/hoping for some hilarious editing/heckling/teasing from Mason about it, so seeing the first text edit saying he was also sick made me sad. I guess we did get the early color screen cutting out the beard rant, but otherwise Mason was pretty silent for the first half of the video - buuuut then 9:53 happened and the second Mortius said “Also, hold on…” even before the disclaimer/time stamp edit I somehow knew Mortius was going on tangent to dive deep into some ship trivia, which got me excited because I also love ships and sailing related stuff (though clearly not nearly as much as our fearless leader ^_^ ) and then the fun editing/text inserts happened and made me even happier :) Great job team M&M

I'm lost on a lot of what you're saying. I get you're sick. you keep jumping around on what you are trying to say. when you are focused you are on point. i enjoy what you say about the song , very intuitive and knowledgeable. i cant keep track of whats going on with the tangents. the second you make a good point i get distracted by the fact you're sick and i have to skip back and forth to portions before and after tangents, to get your message and expertise. i enjoyed it, but i feel like things can cleaned up and sorted better.
