Orcas are our counterparts in the seas. They do everything we do only they do it better. They're also more than we are in every way. We should honor & respect them. We should love them so much we do everything to protect them & their way of life. We owe them our support & our friendship. We owe them our protection.

Orcas are so special!!! I hope to see them in the ocean before I leave this world. All of the whales are beautiful, one of the many wonders that we take for granted. As humans we miss so much to do things that are not worth a thing.

The more you learn about Orca the more you love them and appreciate their intelligence. Truly the most awesome creature on the planet. I would love to see so much more about them. Their hunting, their language, their family pods. Stopping people from capturing or even, most horribly, killing them, requires educating people. There's so much other food humans can eat. Leave the salmon to the Orca or, at least let them eat first! As for the ocean trash, it's time to start holding the countries that do this accountable. We as Americans shouldn't foot the bill for other's crimes. Sanctions, and the like will work.

We are responsible for a great deal of that trash as well. I don't care who foots the bill , it needs to be cleaned up, period. I don't blame specific countries , i blame our whole species.

It's bittersweet watching the Northern Residents knowing Corky is not among them. Corky was captured in 1969 in Pender Harbor, British Columbia. She is part of the A23 matriline. Her sister Ripple, brother Fife, niece Midsummer, great-niece Eliot, and great-nephews Fern and Ne'nakw are free in the wild. Corky is held captive at SeaWorld San Diego. She is the world's longest-held captive orca. Lolita/Tokitae died a few weeks ago. She was the last surviving Southern Resident in captivity. She was captured in 1970 in Penn Cove, Puget Sound, Washington. She spent 53 years in the world's smallest orca tank.

Corky's wild family members were all born after she was captured. I wish she was never taken from them, but she became an amazing adopted mother to so many calves. Orkid, Splash, Sumar, Keet, Ikaika, Nakai and Makani were/are the orcas she raised and is still raising today. They're her new family and she's known them for so much longer than her wild pod.

Thank you so very much for sharing this incredible documentary with us. I've loved Orcas since I was a little kid. We lived in California, my parents would take us to SeaPrison and I would feel so sad for the Orcas. Even as a five year old I knew that it was wrong to enslave them and separate them from their families. I used to worry so much about what they did with themselves when no one was there. Were they bored , lonely, scared ? I had seen them on deep sea fishing trips with my father, and I knew that they had families and companions. They weren't meant to be alone. I'm old now , and it absolutely drives me nuts that there are still Orcas in captivity. No one has the right to "own" such a magnificent creature. It should have the same rights that we all have. An Orca is it's own person.

My name is Leon Sow and I need to confess to you all That I love Orcas so much my love for orcas is so deep that it feels like they are part of me. I understand their movements, their voting, their behavior, and their feelings as if they were my own ,crazy I know . But This love goes back to my earliest childhood memories. And it is so strong that I feel some kind of fear all these years and to this day. When I see orcas on the screen, not to mention in tanks with water, I feel powerless to the point of bursting at awakening a desire for revolution. But I know that this is not the way to free the orcas. The right tool for that is the guerrilla war by inflicting the knowledge, to people, and most importantly, in children. It's hard for me to watch orcas and not be with them in the wild. It may sound illogical, but it's true. Now that my life is approaching the last half, I have decided to face this fear. Will you join me to share ideas and make the right actions today for tomorrow's bright future? Together, we can make a difference for orcas and all marine mammals.

This documentary on Orcas is phenomenal. A love-letter with stings of sorrow. As a child, I watched the movie on Namu, and fell in love. Trips to Marineland and SeaWorld followed, and I’m ashamed that I didn’t see the inherent cruelty in keeping them captive yet. Blackfish got through to me, and like the other poster- Corky from Marineland is still alive at SW. My heart hurts knowing she is still away from her family. I wish I’d followed my childhood dream and became a scientist on Orcas.

It shatters my heart seeing these gorgeous creatures being treated so evil over and over again. I hope anyone who has killed or has helped capture an orca rots in the hottest parts of hell. Orcas mourn the death of every pod member and I cannot fathom the heartache they felt each time a rotten human kidnapped their family member. Protect the orcas and free them all 🖤🤍 they will always have spot in my heart and the upmost respect

I am constantly educating who i can like clients & people I see in my daily life. In my 'world' i kno much about Orca. Constantly looking for all the docs possible, all the shorts, clips, posts etc. They never fail at amazing me, but in reality people think theyre killers, no good... i even had one elder woman say they are sharks. Everything you guys said i couldnt of said better & this stuff is constantly on my mind daunting my heart & soul. We can & will do more ! Its not coincidence this is on a lot if peoples minds, coming from within. We are truly all connected. With love -C★LE

I had the honor to meet and learn from Dr. Ingrid Visser, I watched and studied these wonderful creatures in their natural habitat. This was just amazing, they are so precious, so special animals. They don't belong into captivity 😢 This is animal cruelty and needs to get to an end!!!! It's barbaric! Please don't buy tickets for SeaWorld or LoroParque or all the new "concentration camps" for mammals in Russia, China and so on. Here in Germany there are also still dolphins in captivity. I drive to their prison, an aquarian park, twice a year to demonstrate against this discusting animal cruelty! Sign every paper against this animal cruelty for closing these parks, to close zoos, to end wild animals to spend a poor life in captivity, get to demonstration, tell friends, collegues, family NOT to buy tickets ❤ We all can make a change!!!

What we do to nature we do to ourselves. What can we do for the coming generation to help connect humans more to nature than to technology? When we see the connections, we’ll know we need to do better. We are humans (from humus - earth) and in science-fiction we are often referred to as earthlings. If you watch people you’ll note our connection to screens is much stronger than to nature. It’s easy to fix our nature connection deficit. Take a break from watching KZbin and go for a walk.

Documentaries like this make me profoundly sad. I fear the majority of the world's people are either too oppressed by constant political conflicts and poverty to think about anything more than their surviving another day; and like many people and corporations here in the U.S., people appear to be more concerned with what comforts or profits they'll have to give up transitioning away from the use of fossil fuels, mining, large scale logging, factory farming, industrial agriculture and other environment damaging norms. I also fear too many people today choose to be ignorant, indifferent, apathetic and even indignant to the fact that human activity has and is catastrophically impacting wildlife, the natural world and the climate. We have proof today that we've poisoned everything, and yet we still continue an unfettered assault on the land, the oceans and seas, our fresh water, and our air-on everything we need for the future permanence of all species. Our Earth is tainted, sick and is now showing signs of faltering, and it's because of us, so please God, please let my observations be wrong, for the future well-being of all the world's creatures and our children, grandchildren and etc. Let one day soon there be lasting peace amongst all nations, religions and people too... (I know, my ask is enormous.)

Why do so many videos on Orcas say Killer Whales are not whales, they are dolphins? All dolphins are whales, they are part of the toothed whale group. So it seems correct to call them whales, no? At least that's what I find every time I search "are dolphins whales?" Is it just one of those factoids people hear when they first become interested in Orcas, and then repeat it forever without actually researching it? Or is the information wrong, and Orcas are not part of the toothed whale family?
@northernedgealgonquinca
@northernedgealgonquinca Жыл бұрын
Dolphins and Orcas are indeed toothed whales. It is more correct to refer to Orcas as being in a different subspecies from Humpback Whales. Both types of Cetaceans (toothed and filter feeding) make their home in the waters of British Columbia.
