Unboxing and review of Toaks 1.6L pot/ fry pan. The first part of this video is the unboxing, the rest is a demonstration cooking with it. Over all.... I love it! Handle can get hot though but I just use the orange case it comes in.

I bought the 2.0 liter Toaks pot. The lid isn't a skillet, but I added a little nonstick frying pan and sawed the handle off because I have a potlifter. It all nests and I can keep my utensils, Trangia and gas stove inside.

cool review. just wondering if it is possible/easy to remove the handle while cooking so it doesnt get to hot, or would it be to hard to attach while on the stove. i know u wouldnt want to knock over the pot trying to fight with it.
@thetrailkilla
@thetrailkilla 9 жыл бұрын
Conductormang Johnson well the problem is with the handle on the pot that does not remove, it is fixed in place. the fry pan/ lid handle removes, but that does not get hot. This problem is the only thing that i dont like. but I still love the versatility and how light it is.

Useful vid Trailkiller. I've been looking for titanium cookware, but have had doubts about its usefulness beyond boiling water. Your use of plenty of butter works well for the eggs, but I'm curious to know, if you take butter on hikes, how do you stop it from turning to liquid? Also, what kind of rice are you cooking there, some kind of easy-cook? Great video.

the only thing i don't like is the handle on the fry pan/lid . a buddy has one and it constantly fails to hold . seen him lose breakfast twice because of it . you just experienced the same in your reveal... with no food in it ! poor design , they need to look at how Stanley does their folding handle on the Adventure Cookset . it has a locking tab that keeps it from folding under pressure/weight . good video reveal and demo . slap some bacon bits and hot sauce on that and ...good to go .

I think I'd prefer to get the bail handle version and then buy the pan separately. Only problem is I don't know if the bail handle version's stuff sack would fit the pot and pan together since the pan adds about an inch of height, unless Toaks uses the same stuff sack for both versions. **EDIT** the two versions do include different sized sacks, but Toaks sells the bigger stuff sacks on their site for $4. In the end it costs more but I think it'd be worth it to get all the features I'd want.

Tip for cooking "white" rice. Double amount of water to rice, bring both to rolling boil with a lid or cover, turn heat off and leave for 20 minutes. Viola perfect fluffy rice. SAVE ALL THAT GAS. Try at home works every time.

You guy's have a chemistry, coupled with knowledge, that I have not found in any other video's of this type. Great job man, keep at it. I'm 68 years old, and have done a lot of just day hiking. Since I've been watching your, and the Syntax video's, you have truly inspired me to take the hiking to another level. Pretty much have my backpacking gear put together. You could cook oatmeal or grits on the bottom while cooking eggs or sausage on the top, if the fry pan will sit on the bottom pan somewhat straight. If it will sit on the bottom pan, I will be purchasing it.
@thetrailkilla
@thetrailkilla 7 жыл бұрын
Joe Bishop ok. So the top can sit on the main pot however with a slight tilt. Main pot can also sit on the top but with very little room to put anything in. So if grits were in the main part the top could have sausage but I feel like you would need to take on and off the lid a lot to stir so it won't burn. Not sure if sausage would cook. This metal is so thin heat does not disperse well. I would just cook the grits then cover the pot with bowl to keep hot and then fry the sausage with top.
@thetrailkilla

Joe Bishop I definitely think the double boiler idea will work so heat distribution is better. I will try it out in a few days and let you know. Hell I might even film it. Haha.
