Just based on price alone, I'd go for the Buydeem. The features of the Breville seem nice, but not at $210. The Buydeem has some great features, plus you save about $140. Also, the Buydeem is available as a 2-slice toaster (however, the price difference between the 4-slice and 2-slice doesn't seem worth it).

If you want to reheat in Brewil, just use the lightest toast function. It did not brown the bread at all, just warmed it. The prices are ridiculous, even the $70 one. I have a Cuisinart 4 slot toaster, and I got it as a gift. I might have used it 3 times, finally I transferred it to my large walk-in pantry/ storage. I prefer toasting my bread on Ninja airfryer that needs to remain in the kitchen counter. I am lucky to have a lot of counter space and large center island, but to have 15 different gadgets on the open counters is clutter. Anything that is not used at least weekly stayes in the pantry.

For 3x the price, the features on the breville can just be done popping by hand on the bydeem. But the bydeem has the reheat function as well... It's hard to justify 3x the price just for the slow lowering and rising, which will probably also be more prone to breakage.

One thing I'd like to see on any future toaster tests is trying at least a couple different types of bread. Some of those toasters that burn a light white bread might might be perfect for one of those more dense fresh loaves from a bakery, especially if the dense loaf is cut a little thicker. And on the other hand, some toasters might burn a relatively light white bread even on the low setting. You might be able to test both at the same time even with 2 slot toasters, one type in each slot so the tests wouldn't necessarily take much longer.

The long slots are nice for round loaves, more country style breads. We've had ours for over 10 years now, still working great. One thing that I think can cause some people to throw out a toaster, is when they start tripping GFCI outlets. I have had to blow out the toaster several times, making sure to get out nearly all crumbs. They were likely causing a small leakage current to ground, tripping the GFCI feature in the outlet/breaker.

I'm insanely picky when it comes to my toast. The best toaster I ever used belonged to my workplace when I worked for one of those survey places that were at the mall back in the day. They had a Sunbeam toaster that had small slots so you would not be able to put a bagel in it but you could put an English muffin or a Pop-Tart or a piece of bread. The bread came out perfect every time. It was the most amazing toaster. As I had to replace a toaster the last time about 10 years ago I bought a Brevel two slot and it had been discontinued because it got so hot that people complained. It toasts amazingly and I even bought another for our condo in Florida. The tongs that you were using I don't use them personally but my parents have a pair that they use consistently because things are too hot for them to touch. I think people that cook their fingers get more used to the heat and so it doesn't bother us as much.

Some years ago I needed a new toaster. My old was a electromechanical nightmare. Not advanced and yet very imprecise and uncertain. So I went to the stores and looked. There were a lot of crap or extremely expensive toasters, and then I found a store selling off a model of more advanced toaster from Philips. It had IR sensors that checked the toast level of the bread and a electronic control board. It had a lot of features for reheating, bagels, buns and so on, and it was sold for what was basically $30. So i got one. I've had one issue with this toaster. Once i managed to power it up in something looking like a diagnostic procedure. All LED's were lit in patterns, the toaster elements were run in some kind of pattern and it sounded funny. But that was just once in several years. Powering it off an on again seemed to have everything back to normal. Didn't really think much about it until three years later when I walked by a store that had that exact model of toaster posted with a lot of information of how revolutionary it was this "new" model that had all kinds of advanced features, and it was priced at only $130... I did check and it was the same product number, so exactly the same model of toaster, just sold at more than four times the price...

I think the tongs are more useful for when you're toasting something smaller. Like English muffins and some breads are smaller and stay below the surface when they are popped up, so you have to reach in to pull them out. It's risky trying not to touch the hot sides like that. So I usually use something to get them out, but obviously you don't want to use metal or plastic to reach into a toaster (one can shock, the other can melt). Never heard of these wood toaster tongs before though. I'll have to look them up. we have a long 4-slice toaster, which fits those wide flatter sourdough slices, and those often don't stick out of the top when they're done.

I have a toaster my mom bought for me at a yard sale for $5 at least 15 years ago. It's still working.

the pricey toaster is for people with loads of disposable income and they can afford to buy a new one every year or so........i remember when you got that other fancy one as i was in the market for a new toaster.......they were out of the 9.99 model so i got the stainless steel 19.99 one and it still works perfectly

I love toasters but the one thing I love about toast you cant do with them..add butter before you toast it so it soaks in. I use a toaster oven to make toast. Used to use the big over when I was young before toaster ovens were cool.

I have a sage toaster, it looks similar to the breville toaster, I'm not sure if there is a difference between the sage and breville toasters, but maybe you could do a comparison between the two someday to see if they are different?

Not sure if you mentioned it and I missed it, but it seems on the Breville when you select lets say 5 for brownness, it appears the LED counts down/goes to the left as it toasts, almost like its giving you a count down. Interesting.

I had a reheat button on my old toaster. I miss it dearly. It was great for reheating waffles after they were toasted.

The toaster I have has a digital face on it to tell me what number it’s on and has a timer and reheat and it’s dope idk if I’ll ever go back to having one without a timer I like knowing how long it’ll take to toast stuff

I have a $10 toaster with bagel and two slots. It had a dial, it does VERY good. I'll run that one for another 5-10 years I'll guess... The Buydeem does look pretty cool though, thanks James!

I got mine at Walgreens. It’s only a two slicer but it’s still working after three years. Oh yeah, I paid twenty bucks for it.

I've never owned a toaster, grew up with my granny and always just butter my bread and throw it in the oven, works every time and doesn't cost me anything 😂

A lot more heat and energy used for just a slice or two of bread. The energy saved by a toaster, compared to an oven, could pay for itself. At least one that costs around $30. $210 seems kind of ridiculous to me.

I was considering buying a new one that has a count down/timer on the front so I know how much longer I have to stand there or if I have time to leave it to do something else but also so the noise does not startle me. Surprisingly that is not a common feature 🤷♀️
@scaper811 ай бұрын
It's not very common because most toasters don't use any kind of timer. They have a bimetalic strip like what you'd find in a thermostat. It gets hot enough, the strip bends one direction away from the switch, and the circuit is broken. That is also why, if you're toasting enough bread to need several runs of the toaster, the later batches are always less done. The toaster is still hot, so it runs for a shorter time to get to the same temperature.

Also, on my Breville, the “a bit more” button/feature doubles as “reheat.” I assume it’s the same for your model.

To save space, I've used a Breville toaster oven that cost around $125 for almost 10 yrs. Works great for toast and any size bread, buns, bagels. I really don't see any advantage to having a separate toaster.
@BrianK-zz4fk11 ай бұрын
i bought mine around the same time was $200 but maybe a larger size. It works great toasting but have gotten the error message recently to where it wont work. Have to unplug and replug over and over again pressing buttons and trying different things to get it to work again. Seems fine right now but knocking on wood 😂

looking at the edges in the lower parts of the toasts looks like it would be better to put them upside down?? So the round shape of the bread matches that tooast - no toast edge and the top that is more sunk into it gets done entirely.... Worth a try

I’ve had that 4 slice Breville toaster for about 5 years now & it’s still just as good as day one 👍🏼

I didn't know about Buydeem brand before but I thought it looks great. My partner bought the Breville just because my partner is trying to make our kitchen looks cohesive with all breville appliances. I can say, I like the toaster but I myself won't pay as much just for a toaster that works just like other toaster. I have no complain about it though, easy to clean the crumb as well.

I just purchased a toaster from Amazon by a company named WestBend called quik serve toaster ... It's a very interesting toaster you load it from the top like a regular toaster but when it's ready it shoots what's being toasted out from the bottom of the toaster onto a built in tray... It also has bagel and gluten free buttons as options... I think it'll be a interesting review for you to do.
