The main reason why people hate it is because it has 8gb of vram when the 3060 has 12gb vram people are very particular on vram and 3060 is the same price as 4060 I would rather have it over the 3060 but again people just like having more vram and that is just simply it but I will say the 4060 would be a better card if it was 249 or a little lower so that way it would compensate for that lower vram

barely any uplift performance compared to 3060, 8gb vram and proprietary technology locked behind the new generation(bless fsr 3.1 for the decoupled framegen + dlss) so you feel like you're missing out making you want to upgrade ; i might contradict myself but honestly alot of the newer cards produced by nvidia and amd aren't awful, just bad pricing. hope you enjoy the console

I have the 4060 with the R 5 5600, and the gaming experience is incredible. I'll be moving up to AM5 later and will pair the 4060 with the R 5 7600.

This is my main rig. Replaced the cooler on the 5600G, added a 1TB drive, have a 32GB kit coming, going to grab a 4060 or 7600XT towards the end of the year to replace the 6400, added a 120mm fan at the intake and cut two of the brackets off another and modded the case a tad to fit another in the rear. Both run off a hub remote controlled, helped tons with thermals and compliments the mirror on the front on a solid color. Going to add a 1TB sata SSD and that GPU upgrade, I'll be good for awhile 👌 Also, I think? that's an HP 4060 they put in the Omen?

One thing I wish became more mainstream, not just limited to servers, is the ability many of them have (particularly rack-mounted ones) to attach an additional power connector to the motherboard next to the PCIE/PCI-X controller, enabling a secondary power controller that bumps the wattage per PCIE slot up to 150w, rather than 75w. I can absolutely see this as a win for minimalist-design cases, as you'd have no GPU cables to hide anymore. (The main point of these being that rack mount/blade servers don't have room for the cables, typically.)

That's certainly a budget banger. Would love to see more testing done if you're reviewing prebuilts, especially when they're refurbished; e.g. SMART data from the drive(s), dedicated CPU/GPU benchmarks for temps and a quick noise test. Maybe a quick overview of the BIOS also.

Don’t know how it’s like in NA but over here in NZ these systems exist in big corps and education facilities and when they do an upgrade they upgrade all and do a mass sale at auction. People will buy whole lots of these for very little per unit, then they’ll go over, blow out dust, reinstall os and sell on local markets for decent profit

So if anyone is interested in these systems. I HIGHLY ADVISE getting a ryzen model becauseyou cannot access the BIOS on these prebuilts...BUT...with "Ryzen Master" you can do basically everything a simple uefi can do.. access things like ram speeds etc..which is necessary if you're upgrading ram and want higher than default speeds.

Of course they have a ton of these... there's no realistic upgrade path for them. These were the e-waste prebuilds from the time of the graphics card shortage. The motherboard, case, and probably power supply are all proprietary (and hamstrung.) Be very aware of that before you buy one of these and then want to upgrade in six months.

HP does in fact not use proprietary hardware (apart from the PSU). Dell however does. You can plop this entire system in a normal ATX case. Edit: They do use 'normal' PSU. Its a lot smaller but the case that this PC comes in does support full ATX PSU's. Edit 2: This applies to HP omen, not HP victus.

The OS practically always offloads some data from VRAM to sys RAM for optimization purposes, but if you fill the dedicated VRAM up completely you'll still get lag spikes etc.

I got buy at 2022, come with i5 12400F, GTX1650, i notice no strong enough to play game, i change to RTX3060, and GPU Z show running at PCIe 4 x16, so look like only MVNE slot is gen 3. The problem with the PSU is 500w, if i set too high graphic, PSU fan will run at 3500rpm, i need tune down graphic setting else fan sound too loud.
