Nice job! I'm retired now but love watching young people learning the trade.

Really like your tool tray under the DRO! Will have to design up something like that for mine. Just did a 2 axis install on my mill. A tip for you - if you want to change from 5 digits after the decimal to 4, in the inches mode, press the Setup key, press 123 in the password box, press enter. Repeat and this will toggle between 4 & 5 digits after the decimal. 4 places is plenty of accuracy for the capability of a Bridgeport. I find the 5 digits too busy. There is nothing in the manual about this. Found it on a ToAuto KZbin channel short. Thanks for sharing!

That’s awesome! I had my doubts but just tried it and it worked. 4 decimal places is much better.

Great video! Thanks for the break down. Looking to do something similar to my 1961 Series 1 which is nowhere near in as good condition as yours. It already has powerfeed on the X and Z, with Trav-A-Dial on the X and Y. Debating between ToAuto and TouchDRO. Love the tool trays too. I have limited space in my shop, so those trays would be a great for me.

Hey, your video helped me a lot. I have the same DRO but I have lost my documentation and thus the setup password. 😅 Now I know that "TO AUTO" always uses the same password, namely 2008👍🏻 Thanks for the video and greetings from the good old Germany!

Looks really great. What size steel tubing did you use for the DRO arm? Thinking of copying your design for my own mill

Thanks! 1” x 1.5” tube

Better put a set of stops on the Y axis to keep from crushing your brand new scale.
@samuelwiltzius10 ай бұрын
I’ll look into it. No power feed on that axis so I figured not too likely to mess it up.

@@samuelwiltzius Power feed has nothing to do with it. I sold hundreds of Series 1machines over the years. Crashing X axis scales was a common occurrence until we put bumpers on the saddles.

@@terrymoorecnc2500 Do you have a recommendation for what bumper/product to use?
@terrymoorecnc250010 ай бұрын
@@samuelwiltzius Easiest thing to do is make one out of Delrin or hard urethane, take out one of the screws on the rear way wipers on the saddle and make it long enough so when the saddle is all the way back the scale clears the column.

@@terrymoorecnc2500 That's perfect! I have blocks of some composites on hand - one of them should work. Thanks for the quick reply too. Cheers!
