There was a late 18th and early 19th century movement of Romantic Satanism, more of a literary movement then religions one. A secular Satanism of sorts, influenced by Milton's fictional portrayal of Satan but more as a symbol or projection of idealized rebellious, consciously hedonistic, anti-establishment hero that is fighting tyranny, religious oppression, that inspires change, creativity and radical actions. So, basically, it's more of a conscious literary, social critique and creative creation then a some sort of metaphysical belief in some sort of energy, being, person etc...

How is God symbol of total control when all throughout the bible talks how God gives us all freedom of freewill to choose. While I disagree with Tobias' views on Satan/the Devil as he relates to Christianity, Jewdaism, etc. I can understand where he is coming from to a degree. I am a Christian and one glaring issue that people seem to have with Christianity is with Christians who are not very likeable people. It is no secret to me that many people consider Christians to be hypocrites, and it is often said that Christians in restaurants on Sunday are the hardest to deal with. Ironic right? Well it is true, but not all Christians are that way, and I would venture to say most of them aren't. Christians are hypocrites because we aren't perfect, and that's why we need a God to save us. That's why God came down to earth in the form of a man named Jesus, to live a perfect, sinless life, and one day be injustly killed on a cross to take the punishment due for all of our sins so that we won't have to. I also understand how Tobias said that there are not really any bad things that happened "in the name of the devil", but there are bad things that have happened in the name of God. For example, the Crusades, maybe even Islamic terrorist attacks... Point being, he is right on this. However, we live in a world full of sin and evil that does not happen in the name of God, those evils often happen for some other reason and that is because of Satan/the Devil. (Btw any evil committed in the name of God is not just and not from God.) Since the fall, God has allowed the devil to reign over the earth, God is still involved don't get me wrong, but by allowing Satan to have control over the earth makes a way for people to choose... to choose a righteous path or a wicked one. The righteous path would be choosing to believe that Jesus Christ died to save you from your sins and then living according to his word, the wicked path would be to go your own separate way. My point is, every bad and evil thing that happens in this world is in some way because of sin, for example, wars. I also found Tobias' point about how the pop culture devil represents freedom and rebellion, whereas the three "hebrew" religions represent control. This is an idea I can understand, because I sin just like everyone else. Because of that, we all have a natural inclination to sin and rebel, because "freedom!" and "I can do whatever I want" but so often when I sin, I am not happy in the end, and there are unforeseen things that I have lost. Ironically, I feel as though I am trapped in my sinful ways, wanting so bad to be free. That is why, in Christianity, God's word tells us to stay away from such sinful things and when I do, when I choose to stop seeking quick fixes and pleasure, and live God's way, I am happier than ever. I know this is a very long comment, but I hope I was able to provide some insight, given that I have a differing opinion from Tobias (this comment is on the first 4 mins.) I love a lot of Ghost songs, and it is plain to see that Tobias and the rest of the band have a truly unique talent for making music. Ghost's sound is so unique compared to any other bands I have listened to and I really enjoyed their latest album. Anyway, that's all I have to say. If you read all of this, I'd love to hear your opinions too! God bless.
@kevinh.65872 жыл бұрын
Right on it's amazing to me people miss the point that God gave the world to satan it says that clearly in The Bible. And God gives us free will and if he didn't then we wouldn't need a savior. I don't claim to know it all and i don't believe it right to judge anyone because that's God's job. But it's flat wrong to say that God is the reason for everything wrong that happens in the world. This tobias just sounds to me like that's what he's saying idk. Anyway i read your comment👍

Matthew 12:36-37 “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
@alekizzu470511 ай бұрын
Bullshit. If this God is loving everyone and died for our sins then there shouldn't be a judgement at all. That sounds like fear inducing and narcissism to me
@salookie800011 ай бұрын
Everlasting life wouldn’t be a reward if it were given to everyone. Plus it clearly says in Psalms 1 that the “wicked cannot stand in Judgment.” It’s because God is so unlike them in love and holiness and purity. It is His justice that He determines a soul’s abode (hell or heaven) after his/her mortal death. Voluntary corrupt sinners who choose to sin all their life on Earth cannot expect that a perfect virtuous God to live harmoniously together with them. Jesus is merciful and will give grace to the contrite hearted person. God prefers us to follow His commandments and teachings while yet each of us are different in personality and each of us bears a partial image of God on Earth that is unique. One life to live. Live it for God, Jesus through Catholic Church where it counts not to your senseless pleasures that pass away.

Tobias speech summary is If by listening to Ghost's lyrics a single person feels better and is saved from a bad path or is saved from suicide, that would be a job that almost no one can do. And if it was necessary to use a controversial theatrical figure to make you a better person, then so be it. The end justifies the means and some people can say Ghost band was sent by God directly bypassing common churches, that can be a deep and powerful reasoning and worldview

The Devil is a metaphor of the evil that men commit…..the Devil is basically what ppl have identified as the root of evil. It’s actually a cool gimmick (you could say that Ghost are taking the point of view of the Devil) Their music is good.

If y'all are able to believe in god and jesus, is he not allowed to believe in the devil? Or is he wrong just because his beliefs are different than yours?
@sillygirl32843 жыл бұрын
You are correct, he has free will, endowed by our Creator. Some are just sad WHY he believes what does. But he was turned off to Christ because of acts of man that don't represent what God/Christ is about, not because of acts of God.

Something I've often thought about is why "Satanic" rock music seemingly has to be festooned with gutteral grunts and wails when it comes to the vocals, something which of course Ghost doesn't have. It strikes me as a very pro-Christian idea that Satans music must sound evil, brutal, and nasty, but why the hell must it? Satanism for me is a beautiful thing, a positive thing, and it absolutely involves freedom of expression in all things, so while it's great that we have (so many) Satanic death metal bands, I think we are way short on other types of music celebrating Satan and our Satanic liberty. Let's hear more bands bringing addictive melodies and Satan's choirs to the fore I say 😈😁

Zacharya Sitchin retells the biblical story as that if two celestial brothers, the Sumerian gods Enki and Enlil, sons of Anu (Anunnaki). Enki takes the role of god as creator, and also the devil as temptator. Enlil takes the role of god as judge and destroyer. There is an Opera Rock, Mensageiros do Vento, that illustrates Sitchin’s ideas.

My family is Catholic, myself included and I really like ghost but i can’t help but feel slightly guilty when I listen to them. Along with this, my parents despise me listening to ghost despite my dad listening to Ozzy Osborne and Black Sabbath. If anyone has any advice, I could really use it because there is a major conflict between religion and my passion for music

@E-man316 hey buddy, you sound like a youngster. I'm a mom and a Christian so I'll give you some advice that sees me thru. • this is art. The rules are allowed to be bent in art. Boobs? It's not pron, it's art! Satan? Huh-uh, totally art. • the lyrics often mean two different things, read figuratively and literally. Year Zero sounds like Satan worship but it's about humanity being sinful by nature. Rats is literally about black death but figuratively about the lawsuit. • Music makes us feel good, it CREATES in us good feelings. Only God is the supreme creator and we were made in his image right, with the ability to create good? To create comes from the soul, and music is the closest we come to divinity? • the band aren't real Satanists
