Best Flashlight For Everyday Carry I Lumintop FW3A / FW3T Review

I watched many reviews months ago before I bought my FW3A and shortly after the FW1A. Your review describes the incredible love of its top performing features and the hate of quality control issues of the FW series better than any of the reviews I've seen. I'm so happy I watched your review for the satisfaction it gives me as an owner that went through the switch not working and wanting to solve the issues and get to loving the flashlight. Normally when things don't work properly I want to return the item and get something else but not with this one as I really wanted to use it over anything else available in the EDC flashlight market. It is a flashlight on the extreme end of ultimate happiness and sadness! Your review is well said and very straight to the point which is always appreciated with gear reviews when I'm doing research on the next greatest product. I own 40+ flashlights from big to small, new to very old and one thing I think the FW series deserves more talk of is the ergonomics comparing to my collection. The body feels comfortable and secure in the hand for such a small flashlight becuase of the proportions and taper. The switch is an unusual design but becuase of that it has one of the most enjoyable, fast action and tactile button feel to press and is easy to find being big and on the tail.

Thanks, really appreciate it! And yes, thats exactly how I feel about the FW3A. Did cost me a lot of time and effort but I wanted to make it work and in the end I have come to love it. Can't wait to get my hands on the FW1A as well. Also I totally agree about the ergonomics. The hosts design is obviously very close to the HDS Systems Rotary/Executive and to some other custom tripple LED lights, but why wouldn't it. It works awesome in a variety of grips. No need to reinvent the wheel here. I hope they will continue to with this line of flashlights :)

@@TobisTings I hope the FW series will continue! There s a larger version now which is called the FW21 and uses the 21700 size battery. Seems to all be the same as the FW3A otherwise. I guess the only advantage with FW21 is heat dissipation with longer turbo and battery run time but I don't think I need that one. I prefer the 18650 smaller size for pocket use. Any bigger and I want better throw than the optics in the FW configuration can give. I got the Astrolux MF01 Mini recently which has decent optic and punches way out 415 meters and 6100 lumens which is twice what the FW21 can do and only slightly fatter body and the only flashlight I own that can take 18650, 26650 or 21700 sizes, same firmware as the FW series but with AUX LEDs that can show the voltage status. If you ever consider one of these or anything with SST-20 LEDs note that the 6500k versions are very green in tint at low to medium output. 5000k and 4000k are more normal. You can read some of the flashlight forums and see many people complain of the SST-20 in 6500k.

I wouldn't have tried it but I thought the concept of it being developed vy enthusiasts on a forum and then mass produced was interesting. Also the specs are off the charts for an EDC light. Does have its flaws though as shown in the video ;)

I recently bought two of these lights myself.. the first was a ticu with neutral xpl.. the machining and finish are excellent on this one! However I hated the tint so I bought a purple aluminum one with 4k sst20s, with a plan to swap the leds. The purple aluminum was the only one I could find with the leds lol Anyway, I liked the second leds much better and while the machining and anodizing is pretty good, no complaints there, the driver can be a little weird.. first thing, it’s clearly says “fw1” on it and doesn’t look like any other fw3 drivers I’ve seen. Second, it can get a little shady sometimes. Mostly, it stops switching back and forth from turbo at a certain temp and just gets stuck on a high output. Like it jumps to unregulated only or something. Some of the menu options are different as well.. different # of clicks to get to certain things.

Just purchased the stainless steel version, the threads are perfect. Secondly it's weight is the same as a olight s2r copper with the battery. I have over the years begun to prefer the heavier torches for the feel in the hand.

I would be interested in the stainless steel version as well, but I can't bring myself to buy a third one of these. Generally speaking I'm totally with you. Heavier flashlights just feel better in hand

@@TobisTings I was in the same dilemma as yourself with getting a third type (I also purchased the Titanium version from your video). However, having one available at home, the other in your coat pocket and the the third on the car ensures you are never without light. Plus, lending one to your friends when out converts them to carrying a torch rather than use their phone. I would recommend others do the same if possible

I really do like a lot of what Lumintop puts out but when it’s comes to them honoring a legitimate warranty issue THEY SUCK MISERABLY. My GT Mini crapped out on me 10 months after receiving it. They have been giving me the run around for approximately 2 months now making false promises about me receiving a new one. Apparently I am not the only one who has discovered this unfortunately. Budget light forum which is a flashlight enthusiast website has discussions about Lumintop not honoring warranty work. I have not had this kind of runaround from other well-known flashlight manufacturers like Nitecore, Acebeam and Fenix.
