Great review. This light is an amazing accomplishment. I have purchased different ones with different emitters now - warm, neutral and cool. Very slick and a very comprehensive UI. One of the first ones I had wouldn't go to turbo, but I was able to determine that the issue followed the head, by swapping it out with the second one and my seller (Neils Gadgets) sent me a replacement head and it fixed the problem immediately (awesome customer service, Neil). Every other example I've purchased (including one in titanium and another in copper) have worked flawlessly, right out of the box. Highly recommended.

Nice. Just want to add for flashlight enthusiast the Emisar D4V2 Flashlight. My favorite is the green color with stainless steel bezel, raised version, RGB or amber switch and Nichia E21A 2700 kelvin high CRI led for photos at night. I enjoy doing photos or movies at night in my garden. The Nichia E21A 2700 kelvin Led is perfect.

Yeah I would also love it if it were capable of running on NiMH. I would rarely use it but still enjoy having it as an option. Is there an olight charger that can charge 14500/18650 batteries? I only know their magnetic charging cables. Would be interesting!

Great video, just bought mine in stonewashed with nichia 219c in 4K too (I wanted the sandblasted like yours but unavailable...) I’ve got the fw3s but it’s pretty big, I think this one will be perfect for edc 👍.

I'd argue that a light like the Nitecore TIP, with rechargable battery pack is the way to go today: 1. there are enough sources of power to recharge it in modern society, a small goal zero solar cell and powerbank is arround 100.- CHF, so also recharging outdoors is possible. 2. Batterys are nasty and one way products, better to have a thing that can be recharged often... My point might change if you use rechargable batteries.
@swe_nurse81213 жыл бұрын
I almost never see anyone using primary cells among flashlight enthusiasts, they (we) are always running rechargeable cells. Even the Surefire crowd warms up to rechargeables. When integrated batteries are spent (done with their cycles) they are as bad as primary cells, they need to be disposed of and usually that means disposing of the entire flashlight as well. On a side note, flashlights like the TIP can't be compared to a flashlight like the FWAA, they are completely different tools with different applications.
@TobisTings3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I like the Tip and I used its little brother , the Tini2, for the majority of this summer. Great lights indeed! The Lumintop runs on rechargeable batteries only. There are no non-rechargeable lithium ion batteries as far as I am aware. But unlike the Nitecore, you have to take the battery out of the to rechagre it. Integrated charging is always a nice addition, but I don't really mind it either way. I prefer the style and versatility of the FWAA for now, but I am sure that I will switch back to the Nitecore ever so often. Both are great lights for EDC imo! :)

@@swe_nurse8121 that are valid points to consider. I think a system with removeable, rechargeable powercells that could be charged without taking them out, but changed if broken would be my prefered way 🤔
@BlackDragonWitheHawk3 жыл бұрын
@@TobisTings hm... I commented before watching the full video... Are there usb chargeable lithium ion batteries? 🤔 (what I like about the TIP for example, is that I could technicaly charge it with my large powerbank, as it uses a micro USB port to charge, or put it on a simple, small goal zero solar cell... wheter those options are practical, I don't realy know...) If there is a chargestation that can be used with powerbanks or small scale solar cells etc (preferably usb micro or c) 🤔
@swe_nurse81213 жыл бұрын
@@BlackDragonWitheHawk Plenty of lights that does that, including almost the entire Olight range (although most of them use a magnetic charger). The benefits of using a flashlight with inherent charging capability should not be underestimated but you also pay for that ability in the form of a larger light with more complexity. Sure, if you only want one flashlight that might work ok. But a dedicated charger will always result in more flexibility and a greater amount of control. Modern chargers are affordable and offer a lot more than just simple charging, including battery health and monitoring.

FWAA is a good size but since it can only use 14500 battery I just got the FW3A instead since I use an Olight i3T for EDC. i3T is smaller than FWAA & can take an Eneloop, Alkaline, & 10440 lithium ion. 180 max lumens is enough for my EDC needs. (Update: my Lumintop FW3A suddenly died after 40 days, I later found out it has no reverse polarity protection as in most compact Lumintop flashlights including FWAA, if you mistakenly insert a battery in the wrong direction then that's it ..GAME OVER)

I once went to a wedding in a house and when I wanted to go back home I decided to call an Uber (I don't drive and I didn't have a anyone to offer me a ride) and went to the huge area that serves as a parking lot. It was pretty dark, so I decided to turn on my Armytek A1 (old model) and even on turbo (500 lumens) I could barely see anything. Luckily, it didn't take me too long to find the gate, which was open and there was a lamp post on the outside. So, imo, those pocket-sized flashlights are only good when you use them indoors.
@bonghungk75442 жыл бұрын
@@drogadepc there’s people on KZbin using these small pocket lights out for a hike or walking their dogs in the woods in complete darkness with ease. These key chain lights give the right balance of enough to see around you but doesn’t make your eyes blind to the ambient light. You’d be amazed how much you can see after a few minutes when your eyes adjusts to become night vision. In fact soldiers in dark places before night vision devices intentionally didn’t use lights so not to destroy their night vision and of course not to give out their position to be shot at. So having so much light limits what you overall can really see like in this video it becomes like a tunnel vision. Thanks for sharing your light story and glad you made it home after the wedding you attended. A light is a light right? It doesn’t have to be the latest or greatest and keep enjoy using your light. I’m still using my Jetbeam mini one pocket light and after one I still appreciate it for many dark situations. Heck I even use it for camping 🏕.

Carrying the FWAA as EDC? I wanted this flashlight but I passed on it and got the D4v2 instead. Turbo is hardly useable and it gets too hot in general. I might get it as a must have collectors item... Still, I wouldn't rely on it as EDC. I consider this pocket rocket a toy/gadget. I carry a 16340 and use my 18650/21700 lights for work or outdoors activities.
