I was in Iraq the first time my wife heard this and it nearly broke her. Lets not forget that as bad as it may be for us in some ways its just as bad for those we left behind. To the moms and dads, husbands and wives to our children and loved ones. Thank you for having our backs. Thank you for picking up my slack. Mowing the lawn, paying the bills and doing all of the things I should have been doing but couldn't and I am so sorry for the amount of worry I put you through every time you heard someone fell on the news and the terror you went through every time the phone rang. You folks are some kind of strong and you are MY heroes.

I lived this live for 30 years and I have zero regrets. I was so proud of my husband for serving and even though it was hard the sacrifice we were making as a family wasn't as significant as what he was leaving to defend. He has been retired for 12 years now but last Wednesday I woke up and said good morning and thank you for your service. He is one of the many veterans and active duty personnel responsible for the life we are all able to have.

Thank you to all the veterans for all you that have done your duty to this country. Dramasyde, thank you for honoring them on this veteran's day. I thank you for all my uncles that were in World War II, my father who was in the Korean Conflict, my uncle and my cousin who were in the Vietnam War, and my nephew who served in the Army but was deployed to a base in South Korea for a year. They all saw things we can't comprehend and I am so proud of them all.

Nice job. When I joined the military the history of it wasn't something I really thought about but I was in Europe for most of my hitch and we would travel to small towns on weekends for volksmarches or fests and I have a hundred or more memories of people coming up and saying thank you. They weren't saying it to me but usually because of some kindness an American had shown to them or their family, giving them their rations or some money, etc. during WWII. They would point out important landmarks or places where battles had occurred and by the time I left the military those memories are the things I treasure the most.

I deployed 4 times to combat in 23 years of service and it never got easier to leave my family. Only harder. I have everything In service ro my country, my heart, soul, sweat, tears, blood and almost gave my life. If I knew then what I know now, I would still do it exactly the same. There is no greater service than to one's country

I have so much love and pride for all the military veterans and all the current soldiers in my family. Every generation since the Revolutionary War. My late husband an I met when we were both in the USAF. He stayed in for 20 years. I just served 3 years. I hurt inside to see the people once again being disrespectful to our flag. The flag of the greatest nation on earth. Being disrespectful of our President who their fellow Americans voted into the office of President of the greatest nation on earth. He is our Commander in Chief. The men and women in our military today were not drafted. They joined of their own free will. They joined to protect the very rights and freedoms at stake right here and right now. They are the best men and women on earth. I have lost my husband, his Dad and my Dad. Many have been lost besides. They are best of the best. I often wonder how the world keeps going without all those brave men who always stood their ground and did what was right and honorable. I cry at all these songs. I think once you've been exposed to real military life as a soldier or spouse or son or daughter you feel the patriotism deep in your soul and it hurts when there are those who don't.

I've been out of the Army for 30 years. From time to time, I'll wear a hat either a Signal Corps hat (I was in the Army Signal Corps) or another kind of U.S. Army hat. I definitely appreciate it when someone comes up to me to thank me and shake my hand (pre-Covid, of course). But it's always kind of made me a little uncomfortable. I don't know if I can fully explain it in a way that someone who's never been in the military will understand, but I'm sure other Vets will get it. Like I said, it's greatly appreciated and it makes me feel good when it happens. But at the same time, I kind of feel like... "I'm not the one that should get the 'thank you', those who laid down their lives are far more deserving".

I remember when a lot of our boy’s came came from Vietnam, there were spit on, called names...I still don’t think they haven gotten the respect they so much deserve. I am a Vietnam Era veteran, I didn’t serve over there, but served stateside during the war. I was in the USAF with the 25th NORAD at McChord AFB outside Tacoma, WA, where I watched approximately 1,000,000 sq miles of airspace. I am now 67, use a walker, but if I was needed again, I would be right there. We don’t have to??? But we do. 🇺🇸 THANK YOU 🙏🏼

Thank you Dave for (all the veterans out there. I wish them all well and that God be with them and their families while they are out there sacrificing (maybe even their lives) so that the rest of us remain free!) As a veteran, I understand what it takes to say goodbye to the family and friends not knowing if we will ever see each other again in this life. However, I still considered it an honor knowing that my loved ones will remain free.

A thumbs down here is unfathomable. Every one of my uncle's fought for freedom in WW 2 and some were injured (some shot) and were absolutely unselfish. They were all Canadian and a few signed up meaning Volunteered in the U.S. A few suffered a lifetime of ptsd and sadly became alcoholics. Many confused people in the world today not understanding the gift of freedom. Sad, so sad.
