Honestly, an animatronic with real animal fur is creepier than just an animatronic.

I absolutely cannot get over how well you did, I always headcanon Fetch as either a labrador or a Doberman model but the animatronics have either fur or scales so seeing you add fur to him is phenomenal!!

Thank you so much! That’s so cool, I didn’t even think about what breed he would be! It’s so difficult with fnaf because they don’t really have fur, but I think he’d look weird with fleece (it says that Fetch has fur in the book, but that makes him the only character with actual fur, which is kind of odd?) This is the stuff that haunts me haha
@anglepsycho
@anglepsycho Жыл бұрын
@@tobyhorrorboy Oh yeah, I need to read the book. Judging from how the books are a part of the appeal to FNAF 3 or the attraction itself, I'd say that every character is just an alternate take and that Fetch was made by someone else aside from William or Henry but another engineer entirely. Plus if you take in how fans include Bon's Burgers as in the same timeline but a decade early, the facial recognition tech can be from someone more like Felix or Jack Walten. (I dunno, just speculation given how different the stories are.)

Hey don’t worry about using real fur for these kinds of projects! I’m someone who works with animal remains and taxidermy and you did great! Real fur and leather will always be a better choice environmentally compared to fake furs and leathers as those are made from plastics that don’t breakdown in soils. While leather and fur can last for decades and are biodegradable! Over all good job on your lil guy and please don’t be afraid to use real fur again in a project! :D
@tobyhorrorboy
@tobyhorrorboy Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, I really appreciate this! I think taxidermy is super cool! I don’t own any myself, but I do have quite a few skulls around. I think I was less worried about using fur and more worried about ruining something that was real fur that could have been loved by someone else? Apart from the fact that I saved it from the bin and that it was clearly meant to clip onto a specific jacket, there wasn’t anything wrong with it. I would have been much happier if it was half burned or covered in paint or something when I got it haha. Thank you though, this means a lot to me!

Oh my god it’s like a double edge sword. Disrespect animals or save animals by the environment. What a clever way to go against fake fur
@Topdoggie7
@Topdoggie7 Жыл бұрын
@@EnrommieAs someone who has furs most of mine came from someone who skinned roadkill. The animals did not get disrespected but instead get to live on. Destroying their environment is millions of lives versus a few lives for real fur, often removed from an already dead or dangerous animal. Go real fur always.

@@Mdkisi508 everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I reckon someone who works with deceased critters would know just a tadbit more about real vs fakes furs than the rest of us!! So before getting cranky at someone, please consider how much you actually know about the topic!

I like that you had suspicions about the real fur because it was just so nice. As nice as fake fur can be, it’ll never beat real fur (just in general. I cuddle my pets all the time because of their soft fur). I really appreciate how open you are about it. I would’ve been either too scared to say anything or didn’t say anything at all and just assumed it was fake fur.
@tobyhorrorboy

Thank you! It’s definitely not an ideal situation, but I haven’t gotten any really upset comments or anything, and I didn’t do it on purpose. I think the fact I saved it from the rubbish helped haha, it’s not like I cut a tiny piece off a big coat or anything like that. I’ll use every scrap of it as well as I can to make sure it goes as far as possible!

Another option for changing the animatronic’s head shape without adding too much weight and skipping the hell that is smoothing and sculpting down Eva foam, is upholstery foam! Super light weight, easy to sculpt and easy to smooth down by simply adding fabric! Fetch looks absolutely stunning!! 💜💜💜

I would argue this kinda balances out. Not to mention the fur trade has been and always will happen. It's how we decide to participate and consume that determines the 'goodness, or badness'. If I buy a Gucci coat made of ferrets, thats a horrible terrible thing. But if I purchase a piece of tanned furred hide from someone on a reservation or a local small time trapper. Isn't that 'better'? Humanity and Ethics are very grey. I support ethical and mindful consumption, and I hope someday everyone will

@@vampirepug3318yup, that's the way to go about it. Especially when it comes to local, you can know where the rest of the animal went. If the whole animal was used/respected then I feel like that's fine, we've been doing it for as long as we've been around basically. It's a huge part of human history and culture. As long as it's respectful towards the animal and coming from an ethical source/is being recycled then I feel like there isn't much wrong with it.

honestly, the bit of real fur just makes this fetch even more canon. Also, it is not a bad thing that you used real fur, its actually better for the environment to use real fur. However, the reason people don't like when someone uses real fur or has something with real fur, is that many real furs are not harvested/gotten in the most ethical of ways (e.g some animals getting killed just to their furs rather than people waiting to get an animal's fur after it has already passed on.) Anyway, I love your work, especially i respect it, as i know my motivation would never let me finish any projects like you do.
@tobyhorrorboy
@tobyhorrorboy 4 ай бұрын
Thank you, I appreciate that! Apart from the fact that I didn’t have the coat or jacket it’s supposed to go with, there was nothing actually wrong with the fur collar I used. So I felt a bit bad about cutting it up because if I’d known it was real fur, I would have passed it on to someone who could have worn it. But I’ll be sure to use as much of it as possible so it doesn’t go to waste! And I think that pulling something out of the rubbish and saving it from landfill is about as ethical as you can get haha. Thank you so much! I get so many wonderful and kind comments and that does wonders for my motivation!

you’re clearly much more experienced than me lmao, but if you’re down for a suggestion, i usually use upholstery foam for my projects as opposed to eva foam. it’s a LOT softer and easier to work with, and once you hot glue the fabric to it, it’s very sturdy. id still use eva foam for protruding bits like jaws, ears and the like, but upholstery foam works wonders for reshaping areas! (plus you can smooth it out using only scissors!)

Hi, I’m a fursuit maker and I have some tips/things to reiterate if you already know :) 1. Cutting fur is SO MUCH easier with a trimmer! Even a cheap or crappy pair of trimmers will be easier than scissors and gives a more even result :) 2. ALWAYS wear a mask or respirator when cutting or trimming fur!! Even with scissors, you’re creating super teeny tiny pieces of sharp plastic that gets into your sinuses and lungs. If you craft with fur often, you actually develop groomers lung!!
@tobyhorrorboy
@tobyhorrorboy 3 ай бұрын
Ooo thank you for the tips! By trimmer, do you mean the kind one might shave their face or head with? I have a hair trimmer that I got recently (our household upgraded to a better one so our old one got demoted to crafts) but I haven’t had a chance to use it yet! For Fetch I wanted an uneven and patchy look to some bits of fur, but I’ll use it at some point! I’ve started wearing a mask while cutting fur very recently, but I didn’t know about the sinuses and lungs thing. That’s horrifying, thank you for the heads up! I need my sinuses and lungs 😨
@ottersimms7672
@ottersimms7672 3 ай бұрын
@@tobyhorrorboy yes, like one you would shave with! I personally use pet grade clippers just because I work with fur constantly, but for the occasional craft, any kind with a short guard will work! :) And yeahhh, I always wondered why I’d get sick every time I shaved fur until I read about it!! It’s crazy!

Golden brown curly fur, his front legs wouldn't bend while moving but his back legs could so he would sit or bow or even stand up on his back legs and fall over in a play dead command. The only issue he ever had was with the voice command, and that was because you had to say the word in the same tone as when registering the command or he wouldn't understand you 😅😂 I chalk it up to early 2000s voice command tech. Other than that, he was a really awesome robo dog!
