Did Monty Deserve Better? (The Unloved Glamrock)

Great video, I learned so much about my favorite modern fnaf character! As a pre-Ruin Monty defender, I feel there are a couple more details about Monty in base security breach that really drive home how little Steel Wool gave Monty. 1. His quote after enter monty golf. When you enter any of the other glamrocks’ attractions, they give you a detailed description of their attraction, which includes tons of personality. That’s where Roxy’s famous “Nobody likes a loser.” line comes from, and I swear Freddy’s fazerblast one is over a minute long, it’s like a sketch. The voiceline when you enter the Monty Golf elevator is "Welcome to Monty's Gator Golf. Home of the Hurricane Hole in One! We're currently closed for the night, come back soon!" HUH?? None of the other recordings mention being closed, not even Roxy’s, even though her attraction is literally closed for repairs! That isn’t development crunch, that’s writing crunch, and I’m comfortable saying that knowing Security Breach suffered from both. You hit the nail on the head when you said “We don’t even know if Monty likes golf.”, and it’s because of blatant omissions like this one. It wouldn’t have been hard at all just to have Monty’s voice actor proclaim his love of golf at his own attraction, but they chose not to. Because I don’t even think that Steel Wool knows whether or not Monty likes golf. 2. Freddy’s reaction after you insert Monty’s claws. After getting Chica’s voicebox and Roxy’s eyes, Freddy displays concern and sympathy for his friends. After getting Monty’s claws though, despite the fact that they are obviously the easiest to figure out where they came from as freddy can literally see two green and purple hands attached to his body, he never comes to the conclusion they are Monty’s, despite verbally confirming he knows Monty has claws just like these in the same scene. Thus, we never get Freddy expressing any emotion to Monty individually in Security Breach. This discrepancy is actually so inscrutable that I’ve seen a fair bit of speculation on it. Some people argue this is why shattering Monty comes first in the timeline because Freddy then becomes progressively more and more aware of Gregory’s antics (personally I think there's far more to support the opposite, not least of which because shattered Monty was completely dysfunctional outside of the burntrap fight on launch, suggesting Monty-first was the least tested route), others have used this to speculate that Freddy dislikes Monty, either because he just doesn’t want anyone to replace Bonnie or because he actually knows that Monty hates him and/or Bonnie, if you want to believe that. My in-fiction explanation has always been that Freddy has rather complicated feelings about Monty that he’s not supposed to say in front of kids/guests, so he avoids it (because he’s obviously avoiding it). My out-of-fiction explanation is that for whatever reason, Steel Wool did not want to specify Freddy’s feelings about Monty, so that’s why they avoided it at all costs. When I was more hopeful, I thought this might be because they had planned on expanding the Monty v Bonnie and Freddy lore, but now I just think it’s because Steel Wool didn’t have any more idea what they wanted Monty’s relationships to be like than his personality. 3. Monty’s voicelines. You mention in your video that Monty stops talking altogether in Ruin, but he actually stops having any intelligible voicelines after you shatter him in the main game. I think this got overlooked by most players since Shattered Monty was missing from several sections in the base patch and if you shattered Chica first, you probably only heard him in the burntrap fight, where nobody talks anyways. But Roxy talks in complete sentences and has complete thoughts after being shattered, even though her skull was torn open. Why does Monty devolve like this? Chica doesn’t speak, but she had her voice box ripped out, and as mentioned in the video, it’s a natural progression of her arc. Monty has no arc to speak of. He says “Rock and roll!” at Gregory and then turns into a literal animal for seemingly no reason. Perhaps this was supposed to be a sort of bully comeuppance story, where Monty has at first portrayed as cool but is never able to recover from having his ego shattered, so he’s exposed as a brainless idiot. But honestly, any interpretation seems like a stretch when we have this little to work with. Monty had so much potential, which fans genuinely picked up on. You have the 80’s bully, like I mentioned, or the villainous stooge, like you mentioned. My favorite interpretation is that of the band’s hotheaded diva, since he’s mean, doesn’t like the band leader specifically, and sometimes doesn’t show up for shows. He’s the “bad boy” of the band, that’s why he’s got the most punk-rock style. I could see each one of these being the interpretation of the Steel Wool at one point or another during concept development and up to the VIP book, it’s just a shame that it feels like Steel Wool gave up on him, and so early too. They couldn’t put Monty in Help Wanted 2 because if he was un-shattered he would have to speak, and they had given up on writing Monty speaking lines before Security Breach had even come out.

Yeah, it really does feel like either Steel Wool gave up on writing Monty as soon as they created him, or they tried to pin the villain role onto him, without even putting in the effort to making him a villain. There’s no built up relationships between him and the other characters, no established personality traits in voice lines (except for a twisted eagerness to chase in his hunting dialogue and just growling), no glimpses into what he could have been prior to corruption. Hell, there’s even no motive towards him apparently killing Bonnie, other than artwork that the staff would have made. He doesn’t even give hints of his own accord. Monty is just... aggressive. Well, big deal, so are the other antagonistic animatronics. That doesn't really make him worse than the others. But what do they do? Give Monty the villain’s punishment, but no villain build up. And even then, what they do build up is really weak and a bit forced EDIT: this is more of a me thing, but it seems like Steel Wool is trying so hard for us to hate Monty, but it just seems so phony and fake, and then it just circles around to me liking him again

it makes sense tho to. he is a gator, they are known to kinda lie low and chill and when when they attack they are brutal and vicious. they captured what a gator is perfectly. freddy is a hugable teddy bear roxy is a prideful wolf and chica is a chicken which are known very well to eat just about everything (ive had them as pets... they eat things the shouldnt) each one has personalities tailored to their respective animal part, but the difference is that everyone gets their reason as to why they are like that. monty is just there.

Giga Monty is also a cool example for how a 1-hit death style mode could work for security breach. Imagine getting spotted and then trying (and failing) to continue on while having an inescapable Giga Monty horde permanently hunting you down everywhere you go. Once you’re spotted, your fate is sealed no matter what you do and for how long you do it for. To quote Monty: “You can hide, but you can’t hide”.

There's so much potential for a tragic villain story here. Monty could've been a character who was always doomed to be stuck in the shadows of the other, more popular mascots. Someone who could've been a very flawed, yet somewhat loveable, silly goon who got consumed by his own envy and frustration, to the point that he got so aggressive he did the unthinkable. I think seeing that descent into madness would've been both tragic and terrifying.

You know what would of been a *REALLY* cool idea, That would of facilitated him getting a redemption arc like Roxy? Have the Bonnie incident be (If not caused by Vanny's hacking.) an accident. He and Bonnie are up on the catwalks talking, Laughing, Being bros. Then, After a vocal jab from bonnie, Monty jokingly nudges him, But due to a mixture of him not knowing his own strength, And Fazbear's shitty construction practices, The railings break and Bonnie falls. Monty did kill Bonnie, But it was an accident. Not even an act of anger, Or during a heated argument, Just him nudging Bonnie with just a *little* too much force for the railing to take, And Bonnie fell. You might be asking: "Why would Bonnie be in the bowling alley then? If Monty moved him there, Why?" I believe that all the animatronics have some level of knowledge to their expendability (I imagine it's a mix of this and her personality programming that's the reason behind Roxy's self-image issues.), So between fear of what the others would do if they found out, And the idea that since he destroyed one of the main-stage band members, He'd get decommed for sure, He hid Bonnie in his own attraction to make sure nobody figured out the truth. Monty started dragged Bonnie to Bonnie bowl, But ended up raking his claws across his chest, Causing the scratches with the green paint, So Monty decides to drag him to Bonnie bowl in a tarp, easier to answer questions that way, Instead of hauling Bonnie's corpse over his shoulder. The crappy bowling ball cover-up was a last ditch effort, In the possibility of somebody actually finding Bonnie's body. In the end, In this version, Monty did kill Bonnie, But it was a complete accident. Monty's constantly walks the catwalks because that's where he and his best friend hung out, Reminding himself of the good times, And his worst mistake. Hmm... Somebody killing somebody they love after a *bit* of rough-housing goes wrong... Doesn't that sound eerily familiar?... Also, Unrelated, But: 22:36 Cyber-funk sounds like a *KICK-ASS* line of animatronics. Kinda want to see what that could look like.

A thought occurs. What if Monty is aggressive and angry BECAUSE he was framed? “If everyone thinks I’m a killer, why not act like one?” “If everyone in the band hates me for killing Bonnie, why perform?”

I can legit see that. To me, “Monty killed Bonnie” sounds more like a rumour that children would make. If they saw that there’s a new character on stage and no Bonnie, they probably would not think of anything more rational like technical difficulties, controversies using the character, or even just copyright expiration. (By the way, I don’t actually understand how Bonnie was “killed”, when everyone else in the game suffers worse injuries but still live) But no matter, children would start spreading the rumour around, which would encourage them to not see Monty, or even start to heckle him with that “knowledge”, which in turn makes Monty worse. Kind of like how Chica’s rockstar vice of overeating may be a metaphor for substance ab*se, Monty’s rockstar vice of explosive anger could be a way of showing how rumours and scandal can ruin a person’s life. As well as what some newcomers to bands may experience when they take a role of a previous player; unease, unfamiliarity and outright hostility from fans.

VIP’s weirdly an exact painting of how I pictured Monty: other than his aggression and brute-like personality, he’d have infinite IQ moments like the one with the cutout. He’d be willing to go through great lengths like eating chips off the floor, only for slight benefits because he thinks the chips simply taste good. He’s have unfortunate moments between these like with the candy. He’s fully aware on how aggressive he is but then acts like none of it ever happened while congratulating kids for making it through, and randomly dragging kids out for fun, all while refusing to elaborate. He's the definition of "never let them know your next move" even if he has to make himself look ridiculosu sometimes. Either he's completely oblivious to what other people think of him or he simply doesn't care.

Montys situation is aggravating (to me) mostly bc in security breach some of the messages you can find what seems to be hints at him being deeper, with him missing shows and being broody on the catwalks, and then Ruin seems to just get rid of all that with the Bonnie situation.

That is one big reason why I hate the Bonnie situation. It just throws all of Monty’s (minuscule) characterisation out the window and dunks on him. Even though, all it does as well is make me think “hey wait a minute. If they have the money and resources to make this massive coverup, why don’t they use that money for repairing or making a new Bonnie?” The Bonnie story pretty much only exists to dunk on Monty at this stage, because logically it doesn’t make sense

Exactly, even one of the endings where Monty takes over as the leader prove that they can easily fix any animatronics, so they could fix Bonnie if they wanted to. Bonnie isn't even as damaged as the other shattered animatronics.

I mean think about it, Vanessa told Freddy that Monty will take over the show until they can slap his casing on a new Endo for trying to help Gregory escape. What if a similar thing happened to Bonnie, she could have easily framed Monty by throwing his decommissioned body in Monty's Gulf course. Plus, it was never stated that Monty ever hurt Freddy or the others either, and Freddy still seems to see Monty as his friend despite his temper. Freddy also tells you that Chica, Roxanne and Monty aren't normally that aggressive towards children. It was obviously that Vanny and Afton had SOME type of control on Roxanne, Chica, Monty and Sun/Moon. A control that they did not have on Freddy for whatever reason.

@@beasley1232 you know, I had similar thoughts about that, though I had no idea why I didn’t think of it in that way. Vanessa could get into some very steep legal troubles or even get arrested if anyone were to have found out about the kind of stuff she had been doing behind the scenes (disappearances, the existence of Glitchtrap, whatever, I lost track) So Vanessa could have using Monty, a literal machine, as a scapegoat for any of her shifty business. It could probably lighten any sentence she may have if she does get caught, because, “oh, there was a malfunctioning animatronic running amok in the Pizzaplex! Technology is going rampant, but nothing to do with me!” It would be much easier to place the blame on an animatronic that cannot advocate for itself than a person who has been able to slip her way into the head security guard role with no prior qualifications. And… well, if the Princess Quest ending in the base game is canon, then, Vanessa’s gambit kind of payed off. She gets absolutely no comeuppance for anything she did or may have done (though truth be told, she was barely used properly, but she is supposed to be a major antagonist). Yes, Vanessa is under Glitchtrap’s control, but she’s literally the only one to come out of it completely unscathed, while the Glamrocks deteriorate more and more. (help, my thoughts are a mess, so I don’t think this made sense)

Maybe for whatever reason, they couldn't control Bonnie and of course under Aftons control Monty would probably have no problem dismantling Bonnie. Also keep in mind that Freddy throughout the game still regards Roxy, Chica AND Monty as his friends still, he ALSO tells you that the 3 of them aren't normally this aggressive to children, they were specifically attracted to Gregory for whatever reason.

I do think that Monty is trying to be chill as well, but his size and voice make him seem more threatening. Though, it’s mixed in with some of his hide-and-seek dialogue, like “you can hide, but you can’t hide!” or “I know you’re here!” I tend to think of the character’s in-game hunting dialogue as this: -Chica: tries to be responsible and uses techniques meant for finding lost children, but it comes out horrendously creepy -Roxy: very feebly tries to be responsible, but will go straight to being rude and even a straight up bully, congratulating herself too -Monty: tries to be chill, but sees the whole thing as a hide and seek game, his voice also making everything sound threatening -Daycare Attendant: just straight up trying to scare Gregory out of hiding -Vanessa: tries similar techniques as Chica, but leans into being overly mean like Roxy down to tiredness and stress -Vanny: ARE YOU HAVING FUN YET

I kinda wish Monty was the older brother punk rock type of character. Like Hobbie or marceline where they seem un-trust worthy at first. But is a good person. Basically a don’t judge the book type of character instead of the one note angry one who dies at the end that nobody really cares about Like image instead of Freddy. What would've been cool would be if after shattering Monty, you go in the exiting vent, and Monty appears behind you, chasing you out, even when you leave the vent. I got this idea from seeing all the paths in the vent that just have a dead end, like a maze, and Monty literally moving in and out the vent in the Burntrap boss fight. Unfortunately, his collision box means that despite him crawling, he can't actually enter areas where you'd have to crawl, like El Chip's or other vents.

So I have what I think is a very interesting theory. Everyone always talks about the fact that if he really wanted Freddy's spotlight, then why does he miss shows to be up on the catwalks of Gator Golf? That alone is pretty strange, but I thought about how the very *first* time you see Monty in game is the opening cutscene. He *is* playing with the band. To me, that means that whatever he was doing on the catwalks no longer needed his attention. I have a little bit more to say about this, but I don't really think this is the video for that. Unless someone asks for more on this take, in which I'll gladly try to give more info towards this as cohesively as possible. :)

First of all, sorry this took so long! I had to make sure it made as much sense as possible. 😅 Second, I'm a little surprised so many people are interested in my theory! Thanks to everyone who asked, and I'd love some feedback on what you all think! Now, onto the theory! I believe Monty *knew* that he couldn't go after Freddy himself. He is the face of the Pizzaplex, and even more so, the company. They would just replace him if he went missing or had a lot of damage done to him. So what does Monty resort to instead? He goes for Bonnie. He thinks that, if he goes for Freddy's best friend/possible boyfriend, then Freddy will step down out of broken heartedness. He lures Bonnie to the catwalks of Gator Golf. Monty does some serious damage to Bonnie's chest, clawing it open, before pushing him over the edge. I've noticed that the way Bonnie's body is broken resembles the way Monty's is when he falls from the catwalks. Their eyes and jaws are knocked loose, and they're both broken at the waist. But because Freddy is the face of the band, and he can't/won't step down, Monty's plan doesn't work. He wasn't thinking things through, and he didn't realize at the time that Bonnie being found in Gator Golf would implicate him in the crime. Monty misses shows to look for Bonnie's body on the catwalks. Maybe he's thinking more clearly and he's trying to find Bonnie to dispose of him and/or he didn't get what he wanted. That, or he feels genuine remorse and guilt over what he did to Bonnie (doubtful). And even further, maybe he found what he was looking for, or maybe something else did. Either way, he doesn't need to look for Bonnie anymore, since he doesn't need to cover up anything. He can go back to attending the shows. And before anyone says it; yes, I know, Monty didn't have the claws. Here's the thing: in the ending where Vanny has Freddy disassembled, it's *Staff Bots* that tear him apart. Thin, twiggy, square fingered *Staff Bots.* If they can do that damage to Freddy, there's no question that Monty, a several hundred pound animatronic with anger issues that, as an alligator, would have claws anyway, would be able to do that damage, special claws or no. Also, people count Roxy, Freddy, and even Proto Freddy as suspects simply because they *have* claws, despite the fact that they wouldn't have the special claws either! So how come *Monty* couldn't be the culprit, when *no one* would have the claws? Not even Bonnie had them since they were an upcoming upgrade. However, as much as I personally believe that it *IS* Monty that decommissioned Bonnie, I also recognize there are quite a few holes. The dismantle Freddy ending isn't cannon (?) to my knowledge. It could just be Gregory made it up like the other comics. There's also the ending where Freddy leaves the Pizzaplex and they *do* replace him with Monty, and Mr. Hippo moves into the band. Another thing someone else had mentioned, it's highly suspicious that if Monty did get into a fight with Bonnie, he likely would've had paint scraped off and possibly even more damage if Bonnie had fought back. Yet there's no logs that mention that. I'm sure there would be a memo talking about how weird it is that Monty's paint job is scuffed, and strangely at the same time Bonnie went missing.

Monty’s characterization in VIP is honestly similar to how several fanfic authors and comics I’ve read have headcanoned him, with varying emphasis on his sense of humor or being a ditz, and I honestly wish it was canon if it’s not already. I love Monty so much and he definitely deserved better! I really hate how he got treated in basically every game he was in, Including getting cut from Help Wanted 2 which still saddens me to this day, It's really saddening to me he's the black sheep of the Glamrocks as he has the most coolest design of them in my opinion, I'm really praying that there is a Help Wanted 2 DLC with Monty in it and will flesh him out even more, I'm so happy the VIP novel showed that Monty isn't a petty asshole and is actually playful and loves the kids, I still really hope we see in a prequel of some sort where it shows us what really happened between Monty and Bonnie, I don't think Monty killed Bonnie out of pettiness or spite, At least not unhacked, I think Monty may have done it while hacked by Glitchtrap as it enhanced his worst traits like the Roxy and Chica, I think Monty was a little jealous of Freddy and Bonnie before getting hacked, But had no intentions on killing them, But after getting hacked, That jealousy turned into hatred and that's what caused him to kill Bonnie, I really really hope to God that Monty gets the spotlight in another game or the HW2 DLC, He really deserves better, I would love for him to get a redemption arc too, Same with Glamrock Chica, It wouldn't be fair if Freddy and Roxy were the only Glamrocks to get good endings, Chica and Monty deserve them too. Monty doesn't deserve a happy ending. He deserved to be torn apart by Gregory and then fried by Cassie. He was never an innocent bot. He murdered Bonnie of what was most likely his own free will just so he could take his spot and later try and take Freddy. The fact that he was shocked to death by an LED of his victim triggered by a girl who otherwise loves the animatronics is the death nail to any notion of him ever having been innocent. His the Showa King Ghidorah or Zicronis of Fairy Tail: a already evil individual who was controlled by another evil individual, but was never good to begin with. And the odds of him coming back are slim to none, either way. Dude was fried and confirmed KIA in the Jason interview. So no Monty redemption arc, sorry to say. But even if he was given something like that, the only way it would ever be acceptable is if it was a Vegeta-like situation: brought back only because Gregory and Vanessa needed everything to throw at the Mimic, point blank told he got what he deserved and didn't truly deserved a second chance, and has to live with everyone hating him (including Freddy) until he proves his finally changed for good. That's the only way a "Monty Redemption" would work.

And what I hate about that is that it’s a pretty useless mystery all things considered. Like, we didn’t need to know why Chica was absent in Sister Location. They just wanted to tell a story with new characters. To be honest, because bunnies have a pretty bad wrap for Fazbear Entertainment; considering the MCI, Springtrap being discovered, rumours of a malicious computer virus, a dancing rabbit lady, etc. I would have just accepted that Fazbear Entertainment wanted to use a different animal mascot entirely to avoid association with their sketchy past. Ironically using a predatory animal to replace a character with a predatory past.

Monty could A) have a kid to bond with who is the dinosaur obsessed kind, and would cling onto him rather than be independent like Gregory or Cassie (I know Monty isn't a dinosaur, but I feel that would be his demographic) Or B), the sadder option, Monty has no kid to bond with, but instead only the staff member who would have been in charge of maintaining him. Monty has no one, so he clings to someone he can see every day. A a certified Monty Enjoyer(literally my favorite animatronic of all time), the fact people look at the emotionally frustrated bandmate who wants a solo act and to be left alone, and immediately assume he killed Bonnie for his spot, and use the programmer of Monty's minigolf arcade cabinets dislike of Freddy, as reasonings to hate him, despite literally all animatronics having claws on their endos, and the multitude of evidence showing Monty doesn't even want to be with the Faz-crew, just shows that they're jumping the gun way too much for a character that quite literally sounds like an overstimulated ADHD gator boy(extreme fixation on his favorite thing, very poor social skills apart from a small collection, and unwillingness to follow instructions he doesn't like, IE dont leave the band and dont walk the catwalks.)

I think there could have been some potential with Monty being a last minute slot-in for Bonny after he got decommissioned, with him being supposed to be this goofy sideshow attraction separate from the main band, with his actual personality clashing with him suddenly being on the main stage and having so much more scrutiny over his existence - like the backlash of Mr. Hippo replacing Freddy, but with a much more volatile personality. It would have been really fun to see the Loony Toons version of Monty, especially if it were that his original maze had been specially prepared to include a bunch of hidden doors and paths for him and the reason he's so destructive is that it's in his programming to never travel somewhere the obvious way.

I've said it before, and i'll say it again, Roxy wouldn't have been the final node in ruin were if not from favoritism from the fans. Ultimately it's kinda understandable the Steel Wool focuses on what the fans want, the game IS a product that has to be sold, after all, but it's still unfortunate to get such unevenness in characterization. Poor Monty, that portrayal in VIP sounds ptty nice. Great vid as always!

While it seemed everyone else was praising this game for being a step up from Security Breach, I was just salty Monty and Chica got shafted in it. I didn’t even really like Roxy’s turn to good either. I don’t think I’m a hater, but I think it would have been better if she wasn’t already a fan favorite with it being predicted many times before in fanfics.

@@Jman-oy5gl I legit thought that too. Like, the Daycare Attendant’s change to good at least makes sense in context. He was rebooted with the Faz Wrench and was “cured”. RUIN just seems to forget Roxy’s negative traits entirely. It just seems like having her face smashed in with a go kart, her eyes plucked out and being left to rot in rubble for months(?) somehow snapped her out of her corruption while everyone else got worse.

Her twitching, crying and prerecorded voice line style in SB just seemed like big hints to me and still do. It would made way more sense to me if that happened.

Give her something to do after years of being sidelined! Because of the weird uneven characterisation, two new faces get praised to high heaven while the other one gets mercilessly punished and the only other classic character gets the shaft

I would've vastly preferred a Monty that spends more time messing with you than he does killing you. The idea of him playing it off as him being stupid or an accident when its clearly not. Like imagine if gregory needed a charging station for Freddy and Monty shows up, breaks the machine, says "oops" and leaves with no chase sequence, and then throughout the process of finding a replacement machine he just shows up over and over and slightly inconveniences you and leverages Freddie's charge against you. Maybe then even have a Freddy chase sequence. Then as he gets more damaged and longer into the night, have start to be way more aggressive and bitter rather than silly, like a bully having a third act breakdown of sorts. Then have the pity points that youd have for what was once a person with great bravado is now just a walking(or crawling) tantrum. Make it clear he is a bit of a silly jock that means well but holds grudges, and as the mimic program rots his brain, it makes him a hyperd1ck and extra petty about it. IMO that makes him more sympathetic and likable as antagonist without taking away the jerkiness, and brutishness.

I want a monty plushie so i can give him a fully defined character in my little stupid plush series. Monty deserved so much better, like, imagine if monty was just... consumed by the virus over the course of the game, like, he starts off as a competent threat and the most dangerous glamrock, but over the course of gregory's night at freddy's slowly devolves into an easily defeatable threat, while the others become more dangerous and harder to deal with, until monty's fight, where all pretense is lost and the bucket drops, snapping monty in half, just like his mind, until he is just an animal. imagine seeing monty, as the most aggressive one, fights the glitchtrap virus and his lines are either pained, scratchy cries or automated sounding "come on out kid, i don't bite" type voicelines. Monty could have been so cool, and I love the character to death, but i feel like he could have been more. Rock and Roll!

One of the things that gets me the most when thinking about how bad of a draw Monty got as far as importance within the game: If you decommission Chica first, you have access to ALL BUT ONE of SB's 6 endings (Afton), but if you go for Monty first, you have access to HALF of the endings. Only one ending requires the player to think about Monty.

I always had suspected he was a rather airheaded guy with his "you can hide but you can't hide!" line. And while he was physically aggressive I never got the feeling he was mean or evil. While Roxie belittles you, and Chica lies about your family looking for you, he is all "Hey little guy!" "We're trying to help!" and while he gets annoyed he never threatens you verbally, and I just get this dumb well meaning jock vibe.

I kinda like the idea of Monty being bowser with a southern accent. I could legit see him scratching his head with a slight tilt going like "What in tarnation am I suppose to do?" At some of the shows, or if he's booked for a party maybe say something like "Howdy little rocker!"

Odds are, Monty was probably a red hearing when it came to Bonnie's murder. If you think about it, Bonnie's corpse had slash marks on it which Monty *couldn't* have had at the time since Monty only got the claws to use Bonnie's instrument after Bonnie was decommissioned

Considering what Scott said about how much he contributes to the books, and how he apparently had a greater role in the production of these interactive novels, I think I trust them a little more than Tales from the Pizzaplex. Though tbh neither have been officially canonized, so who knows. 🤷‍♀️

@@notrealnamenotatall2476The Tales From The Pizzaplex being so different from security breach might also be a result from the fact that Scott didn’t tell Steel Wool the plot of security breach (which wont happen again thankfully) I still have hope for this franchise and I still think they can pull this whole thing off, they just gotta *conclude and answer things about the mysteries.* That’s literally all they have to do in my opinion, other than that they’re doing great I also think Mimic can be a really good and scary villain as well, the description for the Secret Of The Mimic teaser trailer said that to understand the future we need to look back at the past, so I think what Steel Wool is doing here is giving the Mimic an origin story to give more context and give reasons as to why certain things will happen in the future games and why certain characters will do certain things in the future games

Another thing about Monty in the Ruin DLC that I would like to make sure it's real is his legs being hidden on the map like Chica's voice box. I've seen people investigating and showing the legs hidden on the map, so if they're really there then maybe Monty was supposed to have them back from Cassie like she did with Chica but they cut it out.

I think the worst part of how Monty has been treated. Is that SteelWoolStudios couldn't even acknowledge it. In an interview, they were asked why Monty wasn't in the game. They gave, admittedly a lazy excuse. I could be fine with that. Developing a game is more complex than just "make game". I was ready to hear "Monty just had bad luck". I just also wanted to know they cared about his fans to some degree. That it wasn't a lack of care for why Monty was cut. Just circumstances and bad luck. Then the interview continued. When they said what Monty had in HW2 was considered content. As in they thought what he got was comparable to what Roxy, Freddy, Chica, and Sun/Moon got. That felt so disrespectful. I feel like I've been punished for liking the wrong character. I've been boycotting SteelWoolStudio ever since. Cause, truthfully. Why should I support a company that thinks so little of its fans to treat them that way? What's worse is. I Hate Roxy and Sun/Moon now. Not because they're fan and creator favorites. Because the preferential treatment they got, meant Monty fans got left behind. Being very bitter. While you got a full course meal with how the Daycare is treated. I got told to go to the nearest dumpster and scavenge. Like you said. Monty is an afterthought, and his fans are no different.

Monty Might Be the Way He Is As He Doesnt Feel Quite Accepted By The Others. In The Opening Scene You Can See Them Walking With Freddy In Front, Roxy And Chica Flanking Him And Monty Lurking Behind. He Might Know He Was Just Bonnie's Replacement Because He Caused It Or He Might Not Have Caused It And The Other Glamrocks Think Or Know He Did It, Therefore Pushing Him Away And Treating Him Like Trash, And Maybe Outright Telling Him (I Can See Roxy Telling Him As She Seems Like She Doesnt Care How Most Others Feel) He Is Horrible And Doesnt Deserve To Be On Stage, Which Might Be The Reason Why He Misses performances, He Is Told Or Implied He Shouldnt Be There, And It Might Have Kickstarted Him Being So Violent As He Is Just So Outraged And Hurt At How He Is Being Treated. Monty Might Not Be My Favourite But He Still Deserves To Be Treated Decently And Have A Backstory.

I've never been into Monty, for the same reasons you stated here: all there was to him was anger issues and an unsolved mystery. He deserved far more, especially because he's the first mainline fully nee animatronic! For so long the core four have been the same, and while Roxy is new, she's a Foxy rip-off. The only times we saw a gator before Monty were the kid in the gator mask in Happiest Day (possibly Andrew) and Old Man Consquences. They could have done something really cool with that, though I digress. Great video as always!

If I remember correctly, Shattered Monty was glitched in the initial release of SB and would just stay in place after spawning, so he was basically a non-threat.
