Tom was one of my favorites. Loved his hymn improvisations.

I wish the former Organist there, Chris Pardini, would come back and do a concert on the newly restored Hazel.

It’s still there? I was just wondering about that. I have heard this organ played countless times growing up in the Crystal Cathedral. I never realized how many pipes that organ has. It really does shake your core when hearing it in person.

1 A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing; our helper he, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing. For still our ancient foe does seek to work us woe; his craft and power are great, and armed with cruel hate, on earth is not his equal.

I miss the original of this cathedral. Those were the good ole' days. Seems as if the organ sounds nothing like it did back then. Really miss the choir, also.

Me too. I was a young kid who visited the cathedral with my family a lot through the years. Think I was a teenager or young adult when they had the final service. That organ is so powerful in person. I never realized how many pipes it had until much later when I googled it. I probably will never hear such a massive amount of pipes again.

Tom Leonard had a good style and a very colorful playing, even if rather conservative vs the potential of such a masterpiece that was the Hazel Wright. As others say, the organ seems not to sound at all like it did before, Idk if it is because of the lesser importance of organ music in the Catholic service or because of the manipulations they did during restoration...
