HI KURT! Your versatility in the kitchen is truly impressive! Substituting pineapple juice with mango juice is such a good idea. You can also use Sprite as a marinade. The phosphoric acid in soda pop helps tenderize the meat. The subtle lime flavor can also give a tangy/citrusy taste to the meat and the acidic nature of it, will allow spices to deeply penetrate and infuse the meat with flavor and moisture. A great chef is confident in finding an alternative ingredient without compromising on the flavor or texture of the dish. Learning what makes up specific flavors, understanding your palate and getting comfortable with taking risks improvising, have been key to unlocking how to substitute while cooking, and it has made cooking a lot more fun. Take for an instance, if you can’t find annatto seed or powder, you can substitute it with Paprika powder. Annatto or paprika will give a natural red color to the dish. Whether you’re a seasoned chef or a beginner in the kitchen, understanding how to substitute ingredients can open up a world of possibilities. Cooking is a form of expression that allows you to create delicious masterpieces. May you continue to find joy in your culinary adventure, and whatever the future holds, we’re always here as your avid viewers cheering for your success! ❤❤ Ang iyong masugid na tagasubaybay na kambal na nasa Illinois, Josephine & Jocelyn

Annatto powder, a coloring agent, neutral in taste is now available in mainstream supermarkets in the internationa or Hispanic aisle! Modesty aside ,we used annatto oil to develop margarine'syellow color way back then! By the way, you could make bulk lumpia for cost saving & convenience. They store well in the freezer for a month or two. Separate the batches with wax paper for easy removal! Congratulations for hitting 65k subs in less than 6 months! Godspeed!

Ilocanos specialize in bagnet, but Kapampangan tocino is the best. Shout out to the Mekenes watching here. Philippine tocino is made with either pork belly or other tender cuts meats with good fat marbling and a little on the sweet side. It is generally marinated a long time to the point of fermentation. You started with a slab of bacon, so I wonder if the bacon slab is cured or uncured or if it is already flavored. Depending on the flavor of the bacon, it can either complement or compromise the taste. So it is best to start with fresh meat. Other than that, this episode is a success 🎉🎉🎉

Hi Kurt, here are my translations. You asked about... Thunder and lightning = Kulog at kidlat Teaspoon = Kutsarita from Spoon = Kutsara like Saucer = Platito from Plate = Plato or Pinggan Also wanna remind you on Sinangag (fried rice). Be aware that the 2nd vowel is A, not I. Say SINA-NGAG not SINI-NGAG. The root word is SANGAG. SINI is for SINI-GANG (sour soup). There you go. Peace out.

I am sure it has the screen in the front so you can see while vlogging. Im only using the phone, I use the back camera so it's sharper than the front. But I can't see if I am still in the view. Good Wednesday morning Kurt! I'm inspired to make this recipe. I was looking for annatto seeds for the longest time and finally found them a few weeks ago. All I need is the pork belly or bacon. Could you taste the mango flavour? Also with the soy sauce did you still need to add salt? Great intro and I think you're hilarious also. I talk to the flying pests like you. But my language is a lot more colourful lol. Loved seeing the pink plate! You've got good taste! Really love your kitchen!
