@@iBeFloe Yeah, I heard about that too! My mom has two shepherds and when she got them she made sure to search for “working line” dogs, cause that’s the breed that has a stronger, more even back with stronger joints that are less prone to hip dysplasia. We just need people to change their expectations that they have of certain “pure bred” dogs. If people simply refused to pay top dollar for dogs that have been bred to suffer, and instead demanded a dog with better genetics, then possibly the problems might get addressed. Money talks and if people had a higher demand for healthy breeds, then breeders would be more likely to supply said demand.

By that point of view my whole country should not exist. I am Brazilian and I have from european to indigenous ascendence, passing through middle eastern. And I am not from a very mixed family compared to others Brazilians. I think is quite racist to compare dogs that have a much larger genetic variation than humans (german shepherds and pugs don't even look like the same species) Even more so to envolve people's feelings in te mix, like grieving less the loss of a mixed race child?? How does one measure grief? All this could have been avoided if we just sticked to dogs

@Merciless Freak Wrong? This is the first pug that can properly breathe, and the stance of its shoulders means its less inclined to develop arthritis and heart issues. Mixed breeds are always a benefit to the health of the dog, while pure breeds are inhumane and suffer from a scala of defects, just for the fun of its owner. Do some research.

@Merciless Freak I have another "oopsie" if you will, my dogs dad was a pug, mum was a sprollie both owners never thought for a second that was possible, well they found a way... he looks very similar to this dog, only he has longer legs and a much leaner body but has the same facial shape including the small snout.. he is currently 8 years old and he has not a single problem that most pugs are born with, he can breathe, his soft pallette isn't suffocating him, his nostrils are open and his joints and stance are much better, I have seen for myself just how bad a lot of pugs have it because of selective breeding, I struggle to see what you mean by they are wrong or mistakes and what research people need to do because mix breeding is far better than pedigree breeding hence why in most pedigree lines there are always specific issues, some due to the fact there was a lot of inbreeding to get the "desired" look, dogs were never meant to has pancake flat faces hence why pugs and other flat faced dogs struggle to breathe, you cant deny statistics, pedigree dogs are more likely to have issues from birth than mixed dogs

@@AgeDrain I don't know what century you live in, but most dogs aren't bred for labor these days. If they're bred for an exploitable reason, that's not the dog's fault. It's the owner's fault, and unfortunately as much as we try to keep dogs safe, there will always be bad owners. This is why we have animal rights laws now. We have an obligation to protect these animals through law and litigation, regardless of their breed. The only thing I'm concerned about is whether or not the breed mix would cause some sort of major health problems, then I would absolutely be against breeding them. Being cute and adorable is nice, but certainly not worth a life of suffering on the dog's part. If they can't be happy, then neither can I.

Adding Pug to German Shepherds is bad for German Shepherds. They have enough issues without adding unhealthy Pugs to the mix. If you love German Shepherds you shouldn't want him breeding. Writing an animal because you think they're cute isn't helpful. That's the kind of thing puppy mill breeders do. So what you are essentially saying is you want irresponsible people breeding him.

@EmEm78
@EmEm78 2 жыл бұрын
@@CM-hx5dp I'm more against deliberately crossbreeding to sell made-up "designer" puppies at extortionate prices due to the issue of there being so many unwanted dogs in shelters/being euthanised already, just as I'm very much against unethical "purebred" breeders who profit from putting more dogs out into the world for the same reasons. Badly bred purebreds have a high likelihood of being dumped due to the costs involved in the many health issues that can arise (not to mention that bad breeders don't bother to breed for good temperament, which also results in dogs getting dumped due to behaviour issues, like aggression in particular). "Designer" crossbreeds have a higher tendency to be dumped too, as they often don't turn out like the breeder promised they would once they grow up. When you're crossing breeds, you can't reliably guarantee the future physical and behavioural attributes of the future pups, but a lot of these "designer" dog sellers make promises that they know they're making under false pretenses, in order to make a quick buck. Once the pup is paid for and picked up, they are seldom there to take accountability for any future issues their lies and irresponsible practices have caused. It's the same thing with unethical purebred breeders. And yes, your typical "mutt" is generally healthier and hardier than most purebreds, although I have seen extremely healthy, long-lived pedigree dogs from actual ethical, reputable breeders. There are breeders out there who truly breed for their passion and love of the breed, but unfortunately they are few and far between. Those are the breeders who don't actually make money from breeding, because breeding dogs, when done ethically and correctly simply is not profitable. If someone is managing to actually profit from breeding dogs or cats, you can be sure that they're not doing it how they should. Sorry for the rant. It's an issue close to my heart, because I've seen too much during my career.

This is a good example of a crossbreed. Let’s be honest, as far as health goes, pugs are genetic disasters. Crossbreeding them with healthier dog breeds, especially ones with longer snouts, can hopefully undo the damage of years of inbreeding that we’ve done to them. Pugs need to be cross bred.

Amazing, never seen a mix like this. And the dog is healthy, he got the best of the both worlds. He can breathe and he doesn't have hip problems. Will we see a new designer breed, geug? 🤔😁

You literally cannot tell whether this dog is healthy or not. Long muzzle =/= healthy.

@@AroBlackCat Well, when the most common health problems faced by a breed are a direct result of their physiology, you can get a pretty good idea. Besides, it’s generally pretty easy to tell when a dog is in good health. In short, long snout actually does equal healthy. Also I checked your channel. You’re a furry. Enough said.

The second she said “pug” I had a moment of panic because I thought “running dog with a pushed in face”!? But then was glad to see his normal snoot.

Goblin is one of those dogs that's so ugly he's cute. He looks like a genetic experiment that went horribly wrong or absolutely right. Either way Goblin is a very interesting dog.

I believe that's a "retro pug", aka pugs being bred backwards to back when they actually looked like dogs and not blobs of muscle that struggle to breathe.

Aw man, this just makes me feel even worse for regular pugs. Or pugs as they exist in the modern day, at least. This dude looks so happy and healthy, then I glance over to a photo of a typical pug and just see utter suffering.
